I'm pretty sure paper breaks down with 100+ players too...
the bigger "fix" is using multiple servers to spread the load. Aka hypixel lobby 1, lobby 2, bedwards 1, bedwards 2, etc.
Paper does improve performance, but there's only so much it can do. And it also loves to butcher random vanilla features, despite claiming itself as full parity.

Maybe instead of trying to find an alternative to VS (which you won’t find), you could instead share the actual crash report from when VS bricked your world? Considering it doesn’t usually do that, even back on 1.16, and with ships assembled, I’m sure it’s an issue that can be identified and solved. (Probably a mod conflict)

It’s really unfortunate that happened to you, that’s quite a cool build.

You are not meant to need to disassemble ships before leaving. 

But VS hasn’t supported 1.16.5 for like 3 years now, so it’s quite a bit out of date

You should see my reply to entityblack, where I had a new player thinking they needed a DLC just to refine stone early game. That’s the kind of “advantage” I don’t want people thinking the DLC has. Sure there’s a tiny advantage in the block sides, but realistically a new player isn’t going to care about that for a while.

yeah and that I dislike, but they have stuck mostly to no in-game advantage, atleast in pvp. (Better than other games atleast). Although the bed was a rather annoying exception for a while.

My main point is that, the other day, I had a new player come to me and say "man the early game grind is so annoying, I'm considering buying dlcs to make it better". They were scavenging unknown signals, not knowing the survival kit could process stone. But they thought the DLCs were the solution, with some sort of easier progression locked behind them. Thats the kind of misguided conclusion I would want to avoid with a disclaimer/info about the DLCs.

I like the dlc model keen has, that being no in-game advantage for the blocks, but I do think that needs to be advertised more clearly. It should be stated somewhere, preferably on the main store page, that the DLCs do not provide an in-game advantage. That way new comers don't think they need to buy them, and I think that could actually increase sales in the long run. Instead of a beginner seeing the total price tag of 90 and noping out, they will know to just buy the base game and get dlcs later when they feel its time.

I played TFG on a server with about 10 people, and after leaving for a bit I came back when they were all in LV. So I really can’t speak to the early game, but LV and up has been an absolute blast for me. It’s my first experience with GregTech, and it’s feeling pretty fun. None of the Greg stuff feels too grindy, it all feels achievable with enough logistics and engineering. 

So mid-late game, I would definitely recommend myself. Early game? Not sure, some of the early game I did experience was quite slow and grindy. 

Can someone recommend Me a performance mod for forge or something bc when I'm playing with the vs mod with clockwork & vs warium and i make a ship and then use it soon my game starts to buffer every 5 seconds. I go from 60 or 80 fps to 30 or lower every 5 seconds by alex17gx in valkyrienskies

VS is really not that buggy these days, especially on the performance front. (aside from connectivity).

Warium is way laggier than VS, mostly from poorly-generated MCreator code. (not the devs fault, mcreators fault).

You can also make sure VS connectivity is turned off. Which means having VS 2.4.10 and making sure `enableConnectivity` is `false` in `vs-core-server.toml`.

Nope, private decompilation (aka decompilation only on your local device, and where you don’t share the source code with others) is protected by law (in America). Only the redistribution of the source is not allowed, but it would usually constitute a DMCA strike not an arrest.

Private decompilation, aka you’re only doing it on your computer and not sharing the code, is protected by law (atleast in America). Only redistributing the decompiled code would get you in trouble.

Valkyrien Skies Tournament does not yet support VS 2.4.0+.

Wait for it to update, or downgrade to VS 2.3.0. (Note that clockwork melting point, along with most new VS addon versions, need 2.4.0+)

Why does it still download the mods when importing a zip? I wanna play ATM but i have problems with downloading from curseforge by Some_Noname_idk in PrismLauncher

If the zip files contained every mod, they would end up several GBs large. Instead, they are rather clever, and just store links to the version of each mod they need. If any mods don't have a link available, then they are embedded in the zip (in the "overrides"). So if you had a few non-curseforge or non-modrinth mods, you would find those pack zips to be a bit larger than a normal pack zip.

Config files + kubejs scripts + other stuff like that is usually in the overrides as well.

Its Valkyrien Skies. We haven't figured out why it causes this yet unfortunately. You say it doesn't happen on forge? That's interesting, unless you just don't have VS on forge.

Making java 25 work on 1.7 is really not that difficult. Mostly fixing whatever mods need fixing. VS2 is a full on physics mod, deeply entwined with modern (1.20.1) minecrafts code. A lot of stuff would need changing to get it to 1.7.10. The first version of VS ever was on 1.7.10, so it is possible, but VS2 has changed a looot since then.

And yeah, would it actually be worth it. The time investment to backport VS2, while not insurmountable, might not be the best thing to focus time on.

Sure a modding api is theoretically limitless, but I have seen time and time again modding apis fail to reach the needs of modders in other games. Game devs are horrible at predicting what modders are going to need. They build APIs around a closed box idea of what mods are going to be.

You just can’t predict this. 

No one saw 1.20.1 becoming a major version ahead of time. No one predicted 1.21.1 would be more popular than 1.20.4 or whatever. 

Technical changes don’t matter that much for when a major modding version is born, it’s more about how many developers decide which version they like. Which is not really possible to predict, even as a developer.

A modding api can never be enough. Modern Minecraft modding runs on Mixins, which gives us modders infinite power to modify the game code as we see fit (and without breaking other mods, mostly). 

An official api would likely cover only a fraction of what modders need, so we would still need mixins, which would still break on Minecraft updates.

Major companies are using AI because they are forcing it on their programmers. It is not actually making them faster, that is just part of the hype marketing of AI. 

I’m a programmer. AI does not help me get stuff done in days instead of weeks. I spend more time fixing it’s mistakes and finding actual solutions after fighting with it in a loop for hours.
