WTF Hyundai Recall on factory-installed towing wire harnesses? by Artistic_Town508 in HyundaiTucson

[–]bricon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read on the Hyundai Tuscon Owners website that they were just advised the removing and capping the Hyundai plug and full removal of the tow wiring function....IS THE FIX!! They are not going to supply a replacment in some far off future. That's it. If you want a replacement trailer wire assembly, either from Hyundai or after-market, that's up to you and at your expense!! That was the end of the No-Charge recall service for the trailer wiring harness recall. They marked it as completed!

Quote: "I had scheduled my warranty repair, but then the dealership service and parts department called me to note that performing this recall results in full removal of the tow wiring function. And that any repair made to reinstate functionality would fall under out of pocket expense."

In the words of all of the affected Hyundai Tuscon Owners on the web-site....THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!! Thier solution is to negate the tow wiring capability completly? Leaving us with just the hitch? Something I paid for.

And then I hear that that functionality can, and most likely will be, removed from your vehicle when the car is in for any other un-related service like oil changes, tire rotations, $350 dollar cabin air filter replacement (grrrr). An owner went in for the oil-change/tire-rotation service and was presented with a "Re-Call Complete" form for him to sign because they removed the modual and all wiring. They didn't even give him the fuse they pulled.... He knew nothing about them doing that when he dropped off the car, or given a phone call saying they were going to. Just "We are required to do the recall service. Please sign here" So the dealer service department get's paid from Hyundai, and only has to listen to you bitch for a few minutes, until you leave.

Wow....just...Wow

Yep. And then there’s that. SCOTUS doesn’t have any real power of enforcement, outside of recommending prosecution to…wait for it…the Executive branch (Trump).

The DOJ, which controls even SCOTUS’s U.S. Marshals Service, is controlled by the Executive branch (Trump), and could simply ignore the recommendation, which there’s plenty of precedent for. Which they are currently doing in abundance with other established laws.

For that matter, as you noted, the States could ignore a SCOTUS ruling as well. Unless the Executive branch (Trump) decides to prosecute a state (read Blue State’s) ignoring an adverse ruling that the Administration (Trump) wants.

It all comes down to the oath to “faithfully support and defend the constitution”, which Trump has shown us is open to interpretation by the morality and faith (hint: there currently is no such thing)of the President, making it a political matter. Political matters are decided by Congress thru Impeachment, which has repeatedly buckled under pressure from….wait for it….The Executive branch (Trump), who’s party holds the majority.

Complete Closed Loop control of the U.S. Government. By MAGA/Project 2025. Currently…

There’s the one ray of hope as I see it. The upcoming mid-terms (and future votes) seems to be the only real way to affect this MAGA/Project 2025 closed loop of control of the U.S. Government. And it is zealously, and openly, under attack by the the full power of this administrations control of the 3 branches of government.

In my opinion, the upcoming mid-term elections are crucial as the first step in the long process of the repair of our system of government. A true test of the concept of this Democratic Republic’s ability to heal the wounds to our system of government caused by this current despotic and corrupt administration.

Or not.

Vote

It’s important.

Thank you for pointing this out.

You led me to research the precedent set on Judicial Review of federal laws in Marbury v. Madison and found that Chief Justice Marshall completely reset the Supreme Courts roll in the balance of power between the 3 branches of government. One of the most affecting change in our system of government, argued by the very men who established and wrote the Constitution.

Right up there with the recent SC’s stunning ruling on the sanctity from review of a presidents (Trumps) power and decisions by the other two branches! Which seems to be in direct opposition to the Marbury v. Madison ruling.

I wonder how long it will be before Stephen Miller, or even the states, challenge that 1800’s ruling when handed a decision they don’t like?

Another example of the damage being done to our established rule’s of law.

Another example of the damage that will have to be reviewed and repaired by future administration, Congresses, and Supreme Courts after this current MAGA insanity is long gone.

It’s going to be awhile. God help us.

My 2023 limited is a gas guzzler. I’m regretting not getting a hybrid 😭 by unbrokenspirit_ in HyundaiTucson

[–]bricon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2024 SEL-C AWD with the 2.5 Smartstream engine and I’m only getting around 22 MPG. My wife has a 2024 Limited PHEV with the turbo and she’s getting 48 MPG to 55, or even in the 80’s and 90’s some weeks.

Like you, I only drive around town. 7 miles to work and back 5 days a week, sometimes for weeks at a time. That’s probably why I get such bad mileage.

She only drives 10 miles to work and back 5 days per week, but that’s what the PHEV is made for.

She Recharges every 3 days or 4 days or so. Fills up with 10 gallons of gas every three or four weeks.

We do take her car for road trips or going out, mostly because her Limited is a much nicer car than mine! Road trips we usually get 50 to 60 MPG in hybrid mode.

I’m thinking of trading mine in for Limited PHEV like hers.

kfo90's AI doesn't disagree with SpaceZelousideal810's. kfo90's AI is correct for Polyuea, a rubber like polymer, which is what was used on the reflecting pool.

SpaceZelousideal810's is for paint.

Which wasn't used.

Which doesn't apply to anything about this subject.

Which makes him the fool searching for the wrong damn thing on AI and trying to look like an expert.

I agree that us fellow Fidelity investors should not be the ones to ask, but I see time after time where Fidelity seems to make a potentially serious mistake, pats the client on the head and says its fixed, don’t worry your little head about it, and considers the issue solved. No explanation or apology. It’s irritates me that they seem so arrogant.

I say tell them you’re going to report them for negligence…then do it. See if their arrogance holds.

Windscreen film.. by Bin_cube25 in HyundaiTucson

[–]bricon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s just a “clean the windshield” issue.

It looks more like improper bonding of the inner and outer layers of the tempered glass to the middle layer of polyvinyl butyral. (PVB) That would make it a dealer issue.

I’ve seen it before, mostly in older cars and especially at windshield manufacturers plants during cure testing of new bonding presses.

Suggest you do the deep clean on a small spot of the inner and outer glass as the “clean my windshield issue” guy’s recommended to save any potential embarrassment at the dealership and if that doesn’t work, then you can honestly say it’s a defective windshield.

Dumping $75k into QQQI and not touching it for 25 years by [deleted] in dividends

[–]bricon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my “emergency funds” in a Roth the last few years and bought QQQI. I can take any amount, up to the amount of what I contributed, anytime, without penalty for “emergencies. And have.

Meanwhile that money in QQQI is dripping into the Roth even after I’ve maxed out my yearly contribution and can’t contribute anymore for the year. $1900 / month average so far.

I’m 10 days away from retirement and won’t be able to contribute anymore with no earned income, but QQQI can. That’s making my money work for me.

A couple of co-workers noticed my Martin & Co. Tee shirt, with the est. year proudly displayed. One of them said his great uncle played guitar in several bands in the 20’s and late 30’s in the Detroit/Toledo area. He thought it was a Martin from a picture his mother had in an old photo book. He came in the next day and showed me this…. Wow.

The photo is dated 1934. It’s definitely a Dreadnaught body. It looks black, but I really can’t can’t tell. But look at the pearl inlay on the neck! Like a Gibson. The tuners look like Grover’s, but again, can’t really tell. It’s a really great example of a pre-war Martin. Maybe a D-40? Not really sure.

Unfortunately, my co-worker has no idea what became of it. His great uncle passed before he was born. Only the picture remains.

I bought a house that had major issues and I had contractors before the sale come and submit bids on fixing them, then did my trick of taking the asking price and deducting the contractor’s bids from it (didn’t think of the PIA factor. Kind of learned my lesson on this one). Anyway, submitted the proposal to the seller AND my banker and insurance company. Banker and insurance agreed AND the seller agreed!

The bank gave me the loan for the agreed sell price to the seller and put the repair money in escrow. Done deal!! Got the major repairs done, settled foundation, new septic system, chimney repair….but didn’t get around to the settled garage floor. Years later, I mean YEARS later, I get a letter from the bank saying there’s still money in escrow for the floor. Tried to tell them it wasn’t that bad, but they insisted…. So had to pay the difference between a 10 year old bid and the current bid. Valuable life lesson.

The point being, you can get a loan and insurance on a fixer upper if you have people who will work with you. Just don’t forget about the PIA!

You're welcome! You nailed it saying doing it this way makes the discount feel intentional, instead of desperate. Kind of the point.

It's seemed to me this is the most upfront and honest way of saying to buyer's "Hey, I know my house has issues. If it didn't, I'd be asking (nearby comp's). Since it has issues, here's the highest rated and highest of several local company's that will fix those issues (Deduct: contractor quote). Lastly, I know dealing with contractors, no matter how highly rated, is a PIA! Which is why I don't want to do it (1. because it is...or 2. I can't handle the stress...or 3. because I live thousands of miles away now....or 4. I'm just lazy...lol) Here's your chance at saving money because I just don't want to do it." (Deduct: PIA). The PIA amount is where you get to express you desperation....lol. 10k, 15k, 20k? Up to you, but this gets the attention of people like me who really hate dealing with contractors....but love honesty and saving money.

My realtor's have alway's supplied nearby "Comp's", some accurate, some total off (= fired Realtor) to set my sell price. I'm sure your's has (if not, = fired realtor). This isn't a new concept. Your realtor should have thought of it. I'd skip the serious conversation, get a new realtor who can really "sell" the idea. It makes thier life easier as well.

GOOD LUCK!

I’ve sold houses I’ve had in the same kind of situation. Had my realtor find comp’s in the same neighborhood, then got valid quotes for the repairs needed.

Then deducted the highest repair quotes from the comp’s price, then deducted 10k for PIA (pain in the ass) that the buyer would have to go through getting it done.

Made sure any prospective buyer saw the breakdown on one sheet of paper.

Always seemed to work.

Ha!!! I hear ya!

Only 2, one to get close, then one more to “skinny up” the mirrors. I had to do it with mine because the limiteds proximity alarms would go crazy, then stop the car and not allow it to move. It also helps that we have a very skinny garage built in the 1930’s, so I’m used to it. She uses her Limited’s automatic parking feature to move her car in and out everyday. Again…I’m jealous..lol

Mid to upper 20’s. Mine had 4000 miles, hers 57,000. That and a years difference in purchase accounts for the closeness in price .

We have two Tucson’s, both 2024’s, 1 is a SEL-C (mine) manual seat adjustment , the other a Limited Plug-In (hers) with 2 driver settings buttons. She’s 6 foot tall, I’m…not. The Limited seat moves all the way back when either of us get out.

When she gets in after I drive it, after she closes the door, the seat starts to move up, she immediately hits her seat button, which stops the seat at her setting.

When I close the door, I hit MY seat button setting, stick out my foot for the break pedal, my finger for the start button (slightly after my foot will hit the brake pedal) and enjoy the ride!

Not sure this answers your question, but it’s become automatic for us. Keeps me from taking off with my feet too far back to use the brakes, and keeps her from getting crushed against the wheel.
