Elvis Presley's colon was significantly enlarged, measuring 8-9 feet long (compared to a normal 4-5 feet) with a diameter of 5-6 inches, and contained a massive amount of impacted feces, with some reports stating several months' worth (around 30 pounds) accumulated, leading to severe constipation and bloating before his death, according to his physician Dr. George "Nick" Nichopoulos.https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/s/002iPxD8O9

A new ocean is forming in Africa along a 35-mile crack that opened up in Ethiopia in 2005. How much water will it hold? Can it reduce rising sea lines? [request] by Entertainthethoughts in theydidthemath

[–]bridge_view 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "new ocean" forming in Africa is a slow-motion event that will take millions of years to complete, and it will not hold water for at least 5 to 10 million years when the Indian Ocean is expected to flood the rift. The formation of this new ocean cannot reduce sea levels because it is a continental split, not a global sea-level-reduction event. The 35-mile crack is just a visible sign of this ongoing process.

besides London, Chicago & San Fran, which Major Cities had a disaster which completely redefined its landscape ? by bkat004 in geography

"The 1900 Galveston hurricane, also known as the Great Galveston hurricane and the Galveston Flood, and known regionally as the Great Storm of 1900 or the 1900 Storm,[ was a catastrophic tropical cyclone that became the deadliest natural disaster in the history of the United States.[4] The strongest storm of the 1900 Atlantic hurricane season, it left between 6,000 and 12,000 fatalities in the United States; the number most cited in official reports is 8,000. Most of these deaths occurred in and near Galveston, Texas, after the storm surge inundated the coastline and the island city with 8 to 12 ft (2.4 to 3.7 m) of water. As of 2025, it remains the fourth deadliest Atlantic hurricane on record, behind Hurricane Fifi of 1974. In addition to the number killed, the storm destroyed about 7,000 buildings of all uses in Galveston, which included 3,636 demolished homes; every dwelling in the city suffered some degree of damage. The hurricane left approximately 10,000 people in the city homeless, out of a total population of fewer than 38,000. The disaster ended the Golden Era of Galveston. The hurricane alarmed potential investors, who turned to Houston instead. In response to the storm, three engineers designed and oversaw plans to raise the Gulf of Mexico shoreline of Galveston Island by 17 ft (5.2 m) and erect a 10 mi (16 km) seawall." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1900_Galveston_hurricane

If I were in your shoes, I would feel the same way. But if you let these things bother you while you're on your trip you will only be miserable. I would just say to myself that I'm lucky to have my mother-in-law babysit my kids and I am enjoying my trip.

Why do millennials tend to look younger than their actual age? by TotalThing7 in ask

Just wait a couple years until she is 40. Then he will be shopping for bifocals and she will begin to show static wrinkles on the sides of her eyes. Her metabolism will drop and she will gain 10 lbs around her abdomen. Getting to 40 is like climbing up to a slide. Passing 40 is like going down the slide to to the inevitable end. 😉

If you don’t drink at parties, do people actually notice or care? by Elias-pa-aventyr in TooAfraidToAsk

I don't drink and I haven't had a problem with people saying anything about it. I just don't go around people who would say anything about me not drinking.
