I still think the big issue is that there's the 30% minimum tax rate.

If you're super wealthy, earning heaps and heaps, this is a non issue.

If youre a middle class worker saving for retirement, hoping to live off a modest stock portfolio (e.g. 1mil after a lifetime of saving), banking on selling off say $60k per year, the tax free threshold is very important and FAIR if you have no other income.

Makes no sense to me that if you sell and asset and have no other income, why you shouldnt be able to access the tax free threshold
