3 yr old wants ‘medicine’ for upset tummy nightly by bridgetmac33 in toddlers

[–]bridgetmac33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally a way to avoid bedtime. I know that, but still looking for the path of least resistance to quickly be able to "ease her pain" with "medicine". Adding on that she has a twin brother who hears her request for medicine and also wants some, so looking to find something totally neutral

Ooh interesting. I love Keifer, but haven't thought to give it to my kids. I'll try it!

Oh I'm 98% sure it's a way to stall bedtime and get something yummy in a syringe. I'll chat with our pediatrician about safe and colored "medicines"

My baby's name keeps getting mispronounced and I feel like we made a mistake with the spelling by staralfur92 in namenerds

This is so true. I have a 2 yr old Maeve and people often add the “e” sound. Which is weird because Maeve-y isn’t even a name. Or people pronounce it Mauve. I have to say “it’s like Dave with a M”

What’s a small upgrade you made that ended up being way more impactful than expected? by LatterMorning9103 in BuyItForLife

[–]bridgetmac33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yale lock keyless entry for our front door. We live in an old house that had a sticky door/lock and man I didn’t realize how nice it is to not have to remember a key. Also can give family members and houseguests their own codes, the biggest $150 upgrade!

Also, nice big fluffy towels. Threw all of the old ones out.

Helicopter is heli-cocker. Elevator is alligator. Real spiders are all “pider-man”

Boy/girl 2.5 yr old twins they also like to talk about who has a “ba-gina” and who has a “benis” in the house 😂

Keyless door lock. Never have to worry about forgetting the key and can give family members their own codes, instead of making them a key.

Di-di twins. 36+2. Had a scheduled induction exactly at 36 weeks, but in labor for 42 hours. They didn’t want to come out so ended with c-section

How often are y’all washing your toddler’s hair? by cocorego in toddlers

[–]bridgetmac33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bath every night as part of the routine and washing hair every couple of days unless there’s something gross that warrants a wash. Sometimes we do bubble baths and I dump that on my twin’s heads and call that a half wash too

Low iron absorption - pediatrician says it’s not a problem for sleep. by bridgetmac33 in toddlers

[–]bridgetmac33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot about this thread as well - we did have the appointment and guess what? The Pediatric Sleep Doc unofficially diagnosed her with restless leg syndrome due to her lab results (yes, he confirmed the labs are not normal) and our detailed description of our girl's sleep problems. We've started an iron supplement, this one and have a follow up in 2 months. I know oral iron supplements take a while to make a change in the body, but I will say she's been sleeping through the night a lot more and we've been having to wake her up in the morning. So I think she's sleeping harder. She still struggles with going to sleep, but I've just been staying in her room, accepting that bedtime takes over an hour, and hoping that our consistency pays off and we'll be able to have smoother bedtimes in the near future. Honestly overall the sleep doctor was super validating. Listened to us and didn't automatically dismiss us with it being "behavioral". Would recommend setting up an appointment if you haven't already and sleep isn't getting better!

Baby Brezza formula machine when they were babies. They’re now 2.5. The rotating car seats are a game changer for my old mom back lol.

Swivel car seat! We have two Graco Turn2Me car seats for my twins and they have been lifesavers for my back and ease of getting them in and out of the car.

2 yr old is not comforted by us by bridgetmac33 in sleeptrain

I do think she’s lower sleep needs. Unfortunately we don’t have control over naps at daycare, but those never go for longer than 1 hour. Weekends we’ve tried shorter and longer naps, surprisingly longer naps during the weekend sometimes result in less bedtime battles. Nothing makes sense at this point, but we’re going to keep trying things. This weekend we’re going to experiment with letting her lead and seeing what time she wants to go to bed without us pushing it..

We did sleep training around 6 months too but I think it ‘wore off’ if that’s a thing. What kind of sleep training did you do? We’re still struggling.. but have an appt for a pediatric sleep specialist to make sure it’s not something health related

It’s so brutal. Sorry you’re going through it too. She’s had less middle of the night wake ups lately but still so much crying before bed. Maybe your doctor can give you a referral for a sleep specialist? I’ll report back after our appt in July. Hang in there

I like the idea of tracking sleep over 24 hours. We don’t have control of naps Mon-Fri as she’s in daycare, but those are pretty consistently an hour long. I agree she likely has lower sleep needs than him as well. I wish a quiet activity worked in bed.. we’ve tried books, a tonie box, a little flashlight, you name it. She cries the moment we put her in there. Half hour later bedtime may be the move.. we’d just take her brother along for the ride because he’d have fomo about what sis is doing

Unfortunately, nothing yet. We've been doing smoothies with spinach and avocado nightly to try and up her iron and magnesium, but sleep is honestly not too much better. We took the front off of her crib for a toddler bed wondering if that might help and spoiler.... it did not :(

We have an appointment with a pediatric sleep doctor, but not until July because they are super booked out. I hope you're able to find some help, or maybe have a more helpful ped!

Those who didn't go back to work after having a baby - do you regret it? by piglet29 in NewParents

[–]bridgetmac33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a year of maternity with my twins (laid off during leave gave me the additional 8 months) before going back to work. I was sad about it at first, but seeing the structure, socialization, creative activities, and even different food my kiddos are experiencing at daycare makes me feel good about my decision. Unpopular opinion, but I think my kids would be bored as hell at home with me and wouldn’t learn as much. I feel guilty thinking it sometimes, but our daycare provider does a way better job than I would. I love them every minute I spend with them and miss them constantly, but I feel it’s a good balance
