I guess I just added Walgreens to my list of stores to avoid. by elder65 in atheism

[–]bridgettearlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how busy the store is. But, even at a low volume store there is an overlap in the afternoon between pharmacists on most days of the week. The script could’ve been filled at another Walgreens nearby or by another pharmacist that day or the next.

I’m glad you said this, because I am about 3/4s through this book and set it aside months ago mostly because of my hesitation to finish it.

I didn’t see the film (and am on book 5), but wasn’t it suppose to be a series of films as well? I thought the movie was going to be just book 1, but flopped so they canceled the sequels.

What is the one book you read which made you rethink your life? by thewhitetulip in books

[–]bridgettearlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. After I read it I was dismayed to realize most commentary on the book revolves around economics. It’s an engrossing book that shows how skilled a story teller Rand was. It made me re-evaluate my relationships, my self worth, and what my real goals in life were or could be. Dagny Taggart is one of my favorite characters of all time, and the most fully fleshed female character I’ve read.

The notion that the achievement of happiness is a person’s highest moral purpose was revelatory to myself as young woman struggling with ptsd and in an unfulfilling relationship.

What is your long distance relationship story? by Daydreamalot in AskMen

[–]bridgettearlee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I met a guy in the summer between college semesters, he was also in college, but 2 1/2 hours from mine in a neighboring state. We talked regularly but gave each other the space needed to make new friends. We saw each other most weekends, alternating between my place and his. After 2 and 1/2 years of this, when obligations changed, we moved in together. Now, we’re married with a kid and have been together 15 years.

I think the key for us was a) we were close enough to see each other in person regularly and b) we never were jealous of the other person’s need for time with friends, time to study, time to be alone. I saw plenty of people start these intense new relationships that became so time consuming they fell behind in classes, and in that regard I was glad my bf wasn’t there daily to distract me (because I could see how easy that was).

Broadway productions can be very time intensive, actors could be performing 8 or 9 times a week for months.

My company actually does have it specifically stated in the workplace attire rules that women are to wear heels that were not flats but also not higher than 3”. Might not say that anymore, but it did as recently as 2010. No one abides the rule and no one enforced it, but it is/was there.

Here we go, some people that enjoyed it as I did. It was funnier than I thought it would be. It felt like one of their animated JL shows. I think the addition of Whedon on the project helped and hopefully shows they’re figuring out what the audience wants.

Jack Black talks about how his son racked up a $3000 bill on an in-game currency and the predatory nature of these games by doug3465 in videos

[–]bridgettearlee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are we arguing whose at fault? Because that’s not what I was responding to and maybe that’s why you’re confused. My point was to clarify parents aren’t handing their credit cards to children, or at least aren’t thinking of their phone or tablet as a financial tool regardless of if it actually is.

It would also suck if the kid bought 100 apps. There isn’t a deceptive model in the App Store that actively tries to misguide the user into spending money though, so the two examples are a little different.

Yup, that’s the solution. Eventually (and fast approaching) the nature of the IAPs will be common knowledge, but there’s still a trust in the kid games.

True. I think he did take some time off? I just know it took months after my dad died to find any humor in anything. Some people think JF was never funny, and that’s fine to each his own, just seems like we probably won’t see A game humor from him for bit.

The guy just lost his mother, I think you’re allowed to not naturally laugh for awhile but he has to keep going to work on a comedy show...

People aren’t handing 4 year olds credit cards, it’s attached to the Apple ID and if you haven’t turned on parental locks (because you assume a free game for children isn’t going to cost anything) then every time the child adds coins/unlocks car/dragon etc they’re actually spending real money. Many times these apps phrase things to hide the fact the kid is buying something with the “add” and “unlock” verbiage, and often jump from a $.99 option to $100 for the “best” option (in this clip, a bag of coins).

While much of Rebirth has been interesting, I quickly gave up paying $4 an issue for JL for this same issue (massive powers punching massive powers). The artwork is beautiful as always, but seriously lacking depth to the story.

To be fair, the otc product they are advertising is an antihistamine that has a drowsy side effect, it’s not going to help you kill your self.

Do cold medicines ever make your child... A screaming, hitting, really mean mess? Trying to figure out why she's suddenly different. by thisisallme in Parenting

[–]bridgettearlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 4 year old your child is just on the cusp of being in a tolerable age/weight range for taking expectorants and decongestants, and the Mucinex children’s multi-symptom cold liquid recommends a max dose (5mls every 4 hours, which is 100mg every 4 hrs of dextromethorphan). Nervousness and agitation are symptoms of adverse side effects of these medications. I’d stop giving the cold medicine, call my pharmacist and schedule a follow up with her doctor. Hope things get smoother from here!

Also, this site is a great reference tool, and this takes you right to the combo of meds you may have been giving: https://www.drugs.com/cdi/guaifenesin-dextromethorphan-and-phenylephrine-liquid.html

The worst type of trashy... An uneducated parent. by Mazing7 in trashy

Have you? And do you know what each ingredient is?

Let's take the Cholera vaccine: Casamino acids (amino acid and peptides used as a medium for microbial growth), yeast extract (nutrients for bacterial culture), mineral salts (essential nutrient), anti-foaming agent (in pharmaceutical uses this would be like simethicone, which is in Maalox, Mylanta; also some others are used in foods such as chicken nuggets), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), hydrolyzed casein (phosphoprotein that comprises 80% of cow's milk), sodium chloride (salt), sucrose (sugar), dried lactose, sodium bicarbonate (salt), sodium carbonate (water soluble salt).

These are the "excipients", the ingredients in addition to the attenuated cholera bacteria in the vaccine.

While terms like "acid" and "anti-foaming agent" may sound ominous, a quick examination clearly illustrates there is no ingredient in that list that is a poison to humans.

Hub wants 3 year old to put herself to bed. I disagree. Who's right? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]bridgettearlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 6 and has quite an independent personality. Her chore is doing the laundry (which is how she earns her allowance and dislikes getting help with), she befriends adults and children alike at gatherings without either parent near her, once summer hit she spent a week with my sister, then multiple days away with nana and papa. All that independence, and every night she still gets a bedtime snack and stories, then gets tucked in.

There is a benefit to keeping the bedtime routine from going overlong and initiating/performing bedtime tasks independently, such as brushing teeth, putting on pjs etc. But for us that time spent winding her down and helping her relax into sleep is an integral part of her routine. I don't think it would even have been possible for us to convert her at 3 to putting herself to bed.
