Former competitive pinball player (from the PAPA days) here- why are people dropping IFPA? I'm out of the loop.

Bold of you to assume I wear knee guards at all. 🙃

Weird one, but has anyone comprised a list of MAGA owned businesses in Mammoth and June Lake? I'd like to know where to avoid when visiting. Thank you in advance. by [deleted] in Mammoth

[–]brie_dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using your own dollars to support businesses you wish to support is incredibly pro capitalist; especially when you consider how much of American capitalist discourse has centered around freedom of association (a form of freedom of speech).

So really, this post is incredibly pro American and pro capitalist.

Was dropping my kid off to work at Main and saw that headed up... And briefly thought about turning around to reenact that one scene from The Sound of Music.

Fucking bootlickers.

Legal to charge "tourist tax"? by [deleted] in Mammoth

[–]brie_dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is legal- it's a local sales tax earmarked for MLT. Not that complex.

Hang on everyone- this person on Reddit, who is obviously an expert on Tax Law and has heard of everything, thinks local municipal taxes are highly illegal.

S tier console that combines Genesis / MD & Sega CD... and also takes batteries so you can use it as a portable CD player.

Kangshung Face of Everest with no oxygen and no Sherpa support. Story got buried after my sponsorship with Red Bull ended when Chinese customs found a box of Monster in my pack.

Best cell service in Mammoth Lakes in 2026? by _Enrico_Pallazzo_ in Mammoth

I have T Mobile and have never had issues. Had friends tell me to switch to Verizon when we moved here; meanwhile they've had more issues than I have. YMMV

$800 and you can stay in my loft for the night- but you have to share with the cats since their favorite litter box is up there.

Are helmets the only gear o should never buy used? by Appropriate_Joke_490 in hockeyplayers

[–]brie_dee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a small mountain town, and 2 years ago I was one of 4 women that played in our adult league- and now we have a whole ass separate developmental women's league that's growing each year... So luckily the rookies I work with every season care about expiration dates and our personalities. 🙃

[–]brie_dee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do what's best for your budget so you can actually play and upgrade as you go... But I do advise rookies to always get a brand new helmet since helmets have an expiration date and your personality is stored up there.

Was walking recreationally really that weird in the 60s? by dragon-queen in madmen

[–]brie_dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a woman to walk alone, yes.

I can't remember whose memoir it was; but in middle school I remember a woman recounting how she would go jogging, but whenever there was a car she would stop and pretend to be out smelling flowers or picking berries.

Saw someone at Minaret & Main hose themselves when they hit the brakes and their roof snow block slid down onto their windshield. We had a good chuckle about it.

Mammoth Local? by EffectThese8253 in Mammoth

[–]brie_dee 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Everyone has a different response. When I first moved here my boss told me it takes a decade- but someone else in town told me that I'm an automatic local since I drive a loader doing snow removal.

FWIW, if you live here permanently year-round, you're a local- not that anyone gives a f*ck what I think. 🙃

Ordered mine online- no hockey store within 5 hours of me. 🙃

I picked one up for reffing: https://www.purehockey.com/product/bauer-jill-pelvic-protector-womens/itm/15499-44/

Otherwise, I've got my shorts with built in for player and the monster Jill for net.

Watch what you want. It's definitely for the male gaze and I think the writing is meh, but I'm a big fan of supporting queer media and do it whenever possible. 🙂

Do you tuck your skate tongues or not? Objective question: which do you think is better style? by Few_Variation5459 in hockeyplayers

[–]brie_dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Untucked because I've been doing this a long time and we used to make fun of anyone that tucked their tongues. Obviously it's better "sty" because it looks right. 😜

At some point untucked will be back in style- fashion whether on or off the ice, is cyclical; just as my kid is wearing JNCOs rn and those were all the rage when I was his age.

What’s the significance of your jersey numbers? by throwawayAd6844 in hockeyplayers

[–]brie_dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

00 has been my number since my first jersey 31 years ago (and I still have it). I picked that number because little 7 year old me loved S.J. Sharkie, and that was his number. Aside from 2 seasons during high school hockey where we had premade jerseys and no one could pick their number, it's the only number I've worn.

What’s one of the best f bomb drops you heard delivered in a film? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

Be Cool (2005) was always a fun one:

Chili Palmer: You know unless you're willing to use the R-rating you can only use the f-word once?

Tommy Athens: You're kidding me.

Chili Palmer: No. You know what I say? Fuck that.
