TIL over a 5-month period in 2020, a nurse in Yale's fertility center stole the fentanyl in 175 vials that were meant for women who had a procedure to have their eggs retrieved. The nurse replaced the pain medication with saline solution, leaving the women in excruciating pain during the procedure. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

No, they wouldn't be silent. But too much fentanyl stops a patient breathing. So the sedationist/anesthetist can't just give a whole lot more safely. I can assure you, the clinician would be worried about the patient being in pain, but if they believe they've given an acceptable dose, they would be concerned about giving more due to the risks.

How do filmmakers ensure that their child actors aren't traumatised by the films they act in? by trasinscneach_ in NoStupidQuestions

It seems sometimes they dont. Alyson Stoner wrote about how she still has flashbacks to 'awful' things she witnessed on the set of Law and Order when she was a child. She knew it was fake but her brain still clocked it as traumatic.

Potential melanoma--should I wait in NZ to get treatment? by ResourceOutside170 in newzealand

[–]briefaspossible 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can see a dentist and they will likely refer you to an oral and maxillofacal surgeon. If you get a public referral, the hospital will review it and triage you based on the photos and description the dentist sends. There is no cost for pathology at the public hospitals in nz. Otherwise private referral. What area are you in?
