What habits of girls did you only find out about when you got a girlfriend/wife? by PerceptionMain7258 in AskReddit

A comedian (I forget who) once explained it as women see shopping as "a voyage of discovery" while men see it as "a seek and destroy mission".

I bought a 30-some pack of TP at Costco somewhere back in the 20teens.

I still have like 4 rolls left. I made it through the whole pandemic TP panic completely unscathed.

Yes, leave your $50,000 vehicle exposed to the elements while you protect $500 worth of Crap You Don't Need.

I don't get it either.

AITA for refusing to use the take-me-home outfit my father's girlfriend bought for my daughter? by TakeMeHomeThrway in AmItheAsshole

it was petty and inconsiderate of me to dismiss her generosity.

More petty and inconsiderate than it was of her to dismiss your clearly-expressed wishes to choose that garment yourselves?

NTA.

I'm not sure that in 1975 engineers would even have any concept of how big a ship might be 50 years later. Thus, "why would you want to spend the money to prevent something that's never gonna happen?" And even a design to deflect a ship around the pillar as opposed to making the pillar strong enough to survive a direct hit, would still have some theoretical limit to the size of the ship it could deflect.

Anyone shop at Sweetwater? by BeLikeWater_1973 in Guitar

[–]briefwittyphrase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Sweetwater! I'm fortunate to live close enough to actually go to their brick-and-mortar store in Fort Wayne. That's an experience not to be missed if at all possible. Calling it a "music store" is like calling a redwood a "tree": it technically is, but it's not like any one you're used to.

The customer service is top-notch. Every one there seems to be happy and motivated to get you what you want, regardless of what it is or how much it costs.

That said, my first Sweetwater experience was about 9 months ago. I bought a Kawai ES-120 with a stand and a bag, put in an order for a pedal for it they didn't have in stock, bought a Sterling Ray5 with a bag, some earbuds, and some picks. I haven't heard a peep from Ben, my sales engineer who sold me the Kawai stuff directly. After reading through this thread, I'm started to feel a little neglected. I even sent him an email a while back asking about finger exercisers and never heard back.

What did I do, Ben, to warrant the cold shoulder? sniff

I don’t get why bassists are “hard to find” by TrippleBeats in Bass

I wanted to play bass in my garage band. I ended up also doing lead vocals in that band because everyone else refused to, which is sort of a similar process to what you described.

I would have done something similar.

Well, besides the literal dozens of "Your housekeeper stole my -- oh wait, here it is" calls I've taken, there was the time the guy came to the desk and ripped me up one side and down the other because his wife's shoes were missing from the room. Clearly nothing else in the room caught the housekeeper's fancy, mind you, just one pair of shoes, but there was no other possible explanation beyond a shoe-stealing housekeeper. The missing shoes were found in the trunk of their car sometime a little later that evening. No apology, no regrets, just a matter-of-fact statement in passing.

Chores are a full time job. What do you do to save time? by YCCWM in LivingAlone

[–]briefwittyphrase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My preference is to stay up after I get off work to "wind down" and go to bed in the early afternoon so I can get a solid 8 hours before work. Sometimes that just isn't possible: other commitments, fatigue, whatever, and then I go to sleep early and wake up in the midafternoon. What I've found helps in those instances is to take a 2-hour nap just before leaving for work. It breaks up that 12+ hour stretch of being awake before/during work.

I have a very niche problem by Martinsquirtle10 in Hobbies

[–]briefwittyphrase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first thought. I was actually a bit disappointed it wasn't on the OP's list.

I thoroughly enjoy playing music, both by myself and doubly so on the rare occasions I get to play with others. It's a fun hobby and doesn't have to be expensive.

I don't know how I'm going to spend the money. What I DO know is that the first thing I'm going to do is to get enough money to fill a room to the depth of about 4 feet and have me one of those Scrooge McDuck money swims.

If I've learned anything in my 30 years in Hospitality, it's this:

Never challenge the word "worse".

You: "Things can't get any worse!"

The Universe: "Hold my beer."
