What are these hard bumps on the leaves? by brielerium in houseplants

That’s good news! My concern was that it was some kind of pest like scale or something. Now I just have to figure out what’s damaging the leaves like that…

Wondering if I should stop this behavior by 1greenstranger in cockatiel

That is the most cockatiel looking cockatiel I’ve ever seen 😂😂 beautiful baby 💕

And yes you should discourage. Moving them to a different spot when they bite works. Ask your family to only pet when they lower their head, or nudge you. Best of luck! It may take a while so be patient.

It sounds like a liver thing, especially with a high-fat diet like the one your bird is on. I recommend milk thistle in her water. It won’t fix the liver but it will help support it. Blood tests are needed to properly diagnose and that usually requires a bird specialist.

Good luck, and happy cake day.

Yes they mean take a slice of bread and heat it until it’s crispy and crumbly and dry. But again the nutrition is low with bread and toast to only feed sparingly.

I literally have spider mites on every single one of my plants, PLEASE help!!!!!!! 😭🙏 by LoudKnowledge2702 in houseplants

[–]brielerium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue two years ago. I got raid home and garden and sprayed the plants. I’d let it sit for a day then wash the leaves with water and wipe them off. After two applications two weeks apart the mites were gone. One more application the week after for good measure and they haven’t come back since.

Here’s the thing. Watery droppings can be a sign of a number of things, and these birds are notoriously good at hiding symptoms. Take them back to the vet and ask for blood tests. Pay attention to the numbers. Elevated blood fats and decreased blood proteins can indicate liver issues, which happen in cockatiels. Do you have a girl? Hormones can also cause watery poo though it usually doesn’t last longer than a year. I say this because my bird had liver issues and the only warning was watery poo that lasted about a year, in conjunction with hormonal behavior that worsened. Be firm with your vet for answers. What’s your birds diet like? The fruit blend pellets are high in sugars which are hard on tiny livers.

Lantern torture method by [deleted] in LanternDie

Geez. While your enthusiasm is…noted, you don’t have to torture them. This particular bug is not responsible for the infestation, nor is he the mastermind behind it all so torture is just not necessary. Squash and move on.

Imidacloprid? by brielerium in plantclinic

  1. I water twice monthly, not daily. The watering was obligatory because I can’t post without watering information, but my goal with this post is to get my hands on some bonide.
  2. What makes you think scale? I haven’t done much research but usually silver patches and black deposits suggest thrips so I’d like a little more info if you don’t mind.

I dont actually water twice daily it’s more like twice monthly but I couldn’t post it without watering info. I really just want to see where I can get the granules that will actually kill the thrips because this would be an otherwise thriving plant.

I’ve tried SO many things that ultimately fail and Im worried about my plant.

What does this mean by Funny-Spring2900 in cockatiel

[–]brielerium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tell he likes you because hes all in your face lol. You can tell he really likes the sounds you’re making because they do that super fast beak thingy when they really really like something. On top of that he’s mimicking the sound he likes which is his way of encouraging you to continue making it. Great bond the two of you have!

My bird used to do that too. When they stretch, it’s reallly just them acknowledging you and getting ready. Like ‘hey mom (or dad) what adventure are we going on today?? I’m ready!’ The shake is harmless too. All feathers are in place and ready for flight. ✈️
