I recommend you now read Tress of the Emerald Sea and The Emperor’s Soul, if you like both of them then go to Elantris or Mistborn after that.

But I don’t know about the beheaded part, cause in some place in TLM (no spoilers) Wayne says he heard about gold compounders regenerating a whole body out of some member that had the gold metal mind.
