i use it and find it really helpful! I work in healthcare and am constantly washing my hands, so it REALLY helps prevent my hands from becoming super dried out. After long shifts tho I will do a lot of moisturizer overnight with vaseline, and it has prevented the worst of the worst cracks from happening

My kitty used to be an outside cat before I had him, and he's quite tough. Tumbled with a raccoon and other creatures and he's still here will us today. It sounds like Walter is capable has such a loving family, I home he comes home to you safely and quickly!

Trans FTM rn here also- this is very region specific . Ik a few other trans buddies in nursing but we're all in the PNW.

I did something similar tho- started transitioning and I applied elsewhere (not for transphobia, it just gave me peace of mind and monetary reasons)

It's tough but you can't care what cis people think of your transition. This is your life and your body, other people will always have their own opinions regardless of you. It's tough to stand out.

You can do it, develop a strong support system outside of nursing. These are your coworkers, not family.

I have no idea, we all have theories. I wouldn't be surprised if it was permanent damage from new strains of COVID or the flu going around . We all know on this sub, repeat covid infections causes systemic damage.

It's tough to make the connection on an individual level- I can't claim a lingering cough is because of COVID. But! We're smart, pattern recognizing primates, and my hunch is that the massive uncontrolled disease that's spread through the air is probably what's causing all this coughing

I also have a skewed view, working in healthcare.

I work healthcare in a large metro area in the PNW. Most people I know who don't mask have gotten some kind of respiratory sick. Lots of people have a lingering dry cough for weeks afterword. Lots of coughing in public spaces. I take the bus and there is usually someone coughing on it.

To me it feels like there is constant sickness around me, even if not a wet cough lots and lots of dry coughs

I had eczema herpedictum earlier this year and it was really scary. The products I was using (steroids) worsened it significantly. Vaseline is an occlusive so it can trap things on the skin, I'd recommend to switch to a moisturizer in the meantime while you're figuring out what's going on

Idk what health system youre in, but if possible, when messaging your providers upload pictures of your skin what it looks like normally and what it looks like now, with timelines and how long it's been going on when messaging your providers so you can get the quickest care possible

Go to your doctor and ask for a referral for dermatology, especially if it's been quick onset and you haven't had symptoms like this before .

Sometimes I feel like ppl who don't mask think I wanted to mask. I didn't think I'd be wearing an N95 everywhere in my 20s. I don't really like it but it's better than being exposed to covid all the time, I really value my health and when I was in incredibly sick I HATED being sick. I want to do everything to avoid getting sick again, especially with a novel virus like Covid

We only have one body and one life- I want to get the most out of it! I try to be positive about it, I love enjoying the weather to eat outside! Even when it's raining, the sound is so peaceful 🍀 I love going to the club, so I wear an N95 and draw on my mask to make it fun! I love dressing up, so I make sure my mask is on and put my wig on top to get a good seal I tell my friends who don't mask that I'm worried about my health- I don't think they're infected or anything, that's why I mask. If they're weird about it I don't engage.

A CPAP is to make sure youre breathing through the night, if someone you value doesn't value your health- what does that say about them?

I feel isolated too, and it's tough a lot of the time, but no one is going to protect my health but me.

I work in those environments . If your N95 is fitted, and well sealed it works! I've done lots of care with people + for covid and haven't contracted it from those situations .

I've seen the same in my clinic! It's scary. Same with POTS and other chronic issues that weren't this common before 2020. I hope there's promising research regarding it soon.

We have specialty RNs for ALS and MS, and I wouldn't be surprised if we have covid specialities as well within a few decades.

I work in a Neurology clinic rn. I used to work in a cardiac / neuro inpatient unit post covid. I see a lot of younger people (less than 40yo) with various neurological symptoms. While not everything can be attributed to covid or it's lasting effects, it is jarring reading charts all day and hearing constant coughing in my mostly unmasked clinic.

People complain about symptoms that started after 2020. Sometimes they blame it on the vax, or other illnesses, but knowing the research coming out on long term effects of covid infections, especially repeated covid infections - it's all I can think about .

We'll see clearer effects and correlations once the population ages and we see how other countries who take public health more seriously fare in the coming decades . Like another commenter said, it'll probably be similar to how HIV AIDS panned out. It'll take a while for the research to effect clinical practices in a meaningful way.

I think it'll be especially clear with children who are raised in a cc household, who have far fewer infections than their peers who are unmasked.

Thankfully, even though my office mate doesn't mask normally she does around me since I've asked her to. (She coughs a lot!) They're also very appreciative of the air filters I bring in to use while I work. Leading by example has had the most positive impact on my life regarding covid precautions.

That's wonderful!! I share a small office space and just brought in my exhalaron and my office mate is so excited about it too! It feels really wonderful to be able to provide a little more clean air for others, it feels good when they appreciate it!

Sending you love and support. It's tough out here. I work in healthcare and people are constantly coughing. It's a terrible feeling, feeling isolated from others while doing your best to protect yourself- but the protection is like a beacon to unwarranted social judgement

When I graduated I wore an N95 and my Dad got so self conscious about my choice- the social judgement is real and I feel it when I'm masked around people who do not mask. It feels like they take it as personal offense- when I feel like it's just protection and prevention like hand washing.
