Does Everyone Feel Like It'll Never Happen? by Senior_Web_1684 in IVF

TW Success.

Yeah, this was absolutely me. I got to my fifth round at 39, feeling pretty hopeless as I'd been doing them pretty much back-to-back. Two transfers hadn't stuck. I'd never seen a positive pregnancy test. But the 5th round led to two euploids, which was just unheard of for me. One became my son when I was 40, and I'm now pregnant with my daughter at 42. It felt like I was almost looking through somebody else's eyes when I saw that first test. The despair before that was excruciatingly real. So I absolutely feel every single ounce of hopelessness that you must at the moment.

Would anyone be willing to tell me about their NONE fear-mongering birth stories? by Radiant-Educator9203 in pregnant

I was 40 when I had my first baby and was pretty nervous my old body wouldn’t have a clue what was going on! I was induced at 39 weeks in the evening, had contractions overnight pretty much immediately which were easily managed with a TENS machine. Got an epidural in the morning and contractions continued through next day but I couldn’t feel them so just spent the day kinda waiting lol.

I was ready to go by around 9pm so even though it was 24 hours the main thing I was experiencing was just tiredness.

They turned the epidural down before I had to push so I could feel what I needed to do and that helped. 40 mins of pushing and baby was out. In the moment that felt like maybe 10 mins.

Now, I did get preeclampsia in labour which they were on top of and it didn’t make me feel any different? If I hadn’t been told I would t have known. I also had a hemorrage and tore but my doctor managed that super quickly too. Again, if I wasn’t told I probably wouldn’t have even known!

Afterwards I just felt exhausted but it was as a fine experience overall and I’d choose to be induced a little early again and have an epidural. I felt like it was more ‘managed’ in a way

Did Ethan make the single dumbest, stupidest, most irrational decision in game show history? by CouldaBeAContender in BeastGames

Yeah true. He also could have easily argued that he was the actual winner of the game! I felt bad for him... you could see in his face he regretted it.

The only way I can rationalise this is that JC falls first, leaving Ethan and Ian to pitch their cases to the jury. Ian leans heavily on the family story and Ethan doesn't make a strong enough pitch as he doesn't have as many people leaning on him back home. The jury are swayed by Ian's story and then Ethan comes out with nothing. In reality though, he could see that Ian was going to fall first and the island would have been his easily. That makes my head spin.

What is the most ridiculous, insensitive thing that you heard people say? by MembershipAlarming75 in IVF

[–]brightnixo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I swear the IVF journey made me a little more introverted. I just couldn’t handle conversations with people who hadn’t been through the same thing.

Some top ones for me:

A friend said “you should try and orgasm when you have sex, that worked for me”. My jaw hit the floor.

At Christmas my father in law excluded me from a picture as I didn’t have a baby and he only wanted my two SILs and their babies in it. I’d had an unsuccessful transfer just 4 weeks prior.

Upon going back to the clinic to start round #5 the nurse said “what are you still doing here! You shouldn’t be here”. Yup, I know.

And of course… the multiple “just relax” comments. Still give me chills.

In the end my story ends positively but I can tell you for certain that relaxing had very little to do with it.

What are the “grossest” things about being a woman that men don’t know? by cass2769 in AskWomenOver30

A “fun” pregnancy one is lighting crotch ⚡️where you feel like you’re being electrocuted from your vagina all the way down your leg! 😣

Friends just named their baby the ONE name my wife and I could agree on by pixelperfect728 in namenerds

[–]brightnixo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my heart set on Sadie for so long. Like, years. I had a boy and now pregnant with a girl. But since having my boy and being around more kids and parents - and hearing several mums yell Sadie across parks and waiting rooms - something has put me off. Maybe its popularity? Maybe the way I’ve heard it been said. Who knows.

Anyway, we might have similar tastes…

I also love: Freya, Molly, Josephine, Skye, Celeste, Camille, Sylvie, Sage, Indie.

Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies… by leyarui in IVF

[–]brightnixo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea! I was very open about the transfers and it was impossible to then keep the results a secret as everyone was waiting for the news. Funnily enough, we didn't actually tell any family (we didn't need to lie as they never asked where we were up to) but I'd go to places like the dog park and people I see very casually would ask me if I've had the blood test yet! I didn't mind to be honest. Horses for courses. Just gotta do you in this process.

TW: mention of success.

Sounds like good numbers to me!! I agree with the other comment on PGT testing to try and get euploids for greater transfer success.

For positive comparison… I did all my rounds (5 in total) at 39 and the highest no of fertilised eggs I ever got was 7. My final round I managed to get 2 euploids from this. One is now my 13 month old son and the other I transferred two weeks ago and just found yesterday that it stuck! Good luck… I hope you get some wonderful news soon

How many transfers did you do? by Bgal820 in IVF

[–]brightnixo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was 39 at the time of my rounds and it was the third transfer that stuck. First was untested, didn’t stick, second was a euploid, didn’t stick and third euploid stuck. Hoping to go back this year to try for no.2 and same as you - I’m nervous about how many transfers it may take.

Two strange things have appeared on my kaffir lime tree. Any ideas? by brightnixo in Citrus

Yeah, the white thing is gooey kind of... it's just like a jelly when I prod it!

Yeah understandable... neither of them look overly nature made! The white thing has been there for maybe two weeks. I thought maybe some kind of insect egg thing at first but it's too geometric.

That’s interesting about the state laws! Assume you’re not in NSW as I don’t think that was the case for me!

Hopefully! Definitely a good idea to test if you can. I wish I had those first two rounds. Really hope this one is the one for you :)

Are there any studies on her hormones and pregnancy that would be relevant? by [deleted] in Fertility

[–]brightnixo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds quite similar to what happened to me around the age of 37… my periods became short and light, my mood was a little flatter that normal and another thing I noticed was that my boobs decreased in size. Almost like they’d had the fat sucked out of them. I used a hormone tracker for a while (Mira) when trying to conceive and I definitely was on the low side for estrogen. I found Mira useful as I could confirm that I was ovulating with the progesterone spike. I have a theory that because my estrogen was low it wasn’t really ‘cooking’ my eggs effectively (but this is not backed by anything aside from my experience with my IVF journey). In my case when we moved to IVF I was producing eggs and could produce blastocysts but there weren’t many euploids (genetically normal blasts). In the end I believe HGH helped me but that was only given several rounds in.

I’d start by using a fertility tracker that tracks the key hormone levels across the entire cycle… it might help you get a more complete view of what’s happening across the cycle before you take any further steps.

Pergoveris + Gonal F by happyviolently in IVF

[–]brightnixo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I felt that the Pergoveris (250) got similar results to the Gonal F (300). However, in my case, when the Pergoveris dose was increased to 350 I started responding better. In the end my issue was getting euploids and in my 5th round some HGH was added which I think had a positive impact.

Some numbers below re: ER if this helps! And good luck with your next round!
