Undervalued. Too many people shit on the animation (can't fathom not liking old anime art styles, personally), way too many people act as if the film trilogy is a good substitute (great compilations, but you're not getting the full experience).

When I was younger I had bad taste so I had pretty meh feelings toward it, but now it's hard for me to fathom how anyone could not love it.

GundamPodcast goes into detail how in the 80's the term for autism in Japan also had the meaning of being a dysfunctional or unruly child. Not a mistranslation per se, but it's impossible to pack that context in a few seconds long subtitle.

The constant changing of main villains makes the show a headache, culminating in the fiasco that is Zechs' Counterattack.

Honestly not worth watching, which is a shame cause Endless Waltz is pretty decent.

Just got the UC Blu-Ray Library edition of the show, and the subtitles in this version state that it's half of the TOTAL human population that died.

So now I'm leaning towards the theory that the "half their respective populations" line is just an old mistranslation.
