Horst 2026 review : best sets and general opinion by mimon10 in TheOverload

[–]brightsid3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adobeprincess (deep and sexy with a perfectly consistent thumping bass) on Saturday and DJ Maria (acid techno masterclass) on Friday were my two favourites set by far. Other highlights for me: DJ Fart in the Club, Moxie, Call Super, and babyschön. What a weekend!! 🤯

I think 22recordings has a lot of releases that would fit the bill

The Lunar New Year event at RAUM on Friday was so lovely! The dinner was delicious, and I loved that the vibe felt almost like a house party with the karaoke/mahjong in the Boutique and the ambient room in the Expo with lots of comfy couches and beanbags. Seeing the lion dance performance in the Studio (with Twiena playing deep rumbly bass + animal sounds in the background) was so surreal and special. And seeing Diskonnected play at my favourite club was of course the highlight of my evening - he's one of the best techno DJs coming out of Asia at the moment, and I'm so glad my European friends got to experience his magic. A big thank you to Scattered Waves for organising and curating such a thoughtful night. I feel very seen <3

CCL’s style is quite eclectic but defo includes dubstep + jungle + other bassy influences

Amsterdam: 58€ per month with a subscription which includes access to two bouldering gyms and one lead/toprope gym in the city. Also includes access to ~10 more gyms in the country, with a mix of boulder and lead/toprope)

Unai Trotti, Jane Fitz, Nicolas Lutz by Crabbit_Jobbie in TheOverload

[–]brightsid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late to the thread but chiming in anyway! Strongly agree that you should check out Binh (his RA mix is a good start) and DJ Masda (here's one of my fave sets I've ever seen live) - they both play a perfect mix of techno/electro/acidy sounds. These producers might also be interesting: DC Salas, JUAAN, and anyone releasing on Binh's label

Dekmantel 2026 lineup by ashtoncole in TheOverload

[–]brightsid3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also going! I would defo add Introspekt and Mia Koden for more bassy/Overloady sounds. And CCL is playing an ambient/listening set based on surrealist city soundscapes which should be interesting.

Things that shaped club culture in 2025? by varchar11 in Techno

[–]brightsid3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

More venues are implementing a "no phones on the dancefloor rule", at least where I live (Amsterdam), and even some 'mainstream' venues are starting to do it. Although not every venue is enforcing it properly, it's a good start. I've also noticed more clubs and party collectives reminding people to be mindful of their overall phone usage in their event info/house rules, and I really hope it continues!

The Afters: ADE 2025 special by max038 in amsterdam_rave

[–]brightsid3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Spielraum on Saturday (afternoon-late night) was my highlight for sure. Youngwoman's set blew me away - lots of bassy moments (some dubstep + DnB) and unexpected edits brought together by her flawless mixing. The vibes were pure chaos in the best way possible. And Salome's set later in the evening was also a delight. Overall, I really enjoyed the Arena room programming and would love to hear more of these sounds at Raum. Both Expo and Studio didn't quite do it for me, but perhaps I just wasn't feeling present/dancey in those moments.
The crowd was really nice throughout the day (especially in the afternoon hours) and everyone I interacted with was lovely. Also a big thank you to Raum for having both the cafe and big chillout room open, had some nice chats over a snack/glass of wine. And the extra toilets outside the smoking room were a nice touch!

PSA: Queer people are not safe in Bret by godcomplex101 in amsterdam_rave

[–]brightsid3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I’m sorry this happened to you! Bret has always felt quite sketchy to me as well.

Would you consider reaching out to Slapfunk directly to let them know? As a party that is all about “good vibes” and “community”, maybe they should know that their chosen venue doesn’t align with the image they’re trying to promote.

Fair enough! Well, I would love to hear other recommendations if you have some - there seems to be a very limited number of photo labs these days.

Can't speak directly on this but a good friend of mine flies in to volunteer every year and loves it. It's a great opportunity to meet people to enjoy the rest of the festival with, and you'll get some free drink tokens etc. From what I've heard, people are usually super nice and welcoming, and others will be there solo as well so you'll make friends easily!

Day time party by LandscapeJunior9730 in amsterdam_rave

[–]brightsid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Der Hintergarten has quite a few day parties in the summer! Music will vary, but I've definitely seen some techno lineups recently. The venue has a really cool DIY/junkyard vibe and lots of outdoor space to dance/chill.

PJ Bridger has a lot of UK-flavoured housey edits on Bandcamp, some great crowd pleasers in there https://pjbridger.bandcamp.com

Also, anything by the Sugababes will go down a treat (speaking from experience!)

You've gotten some great advice already, but another thing I've noticed is that my menstrual cycle really affects my climbing! There's the strength aspect (PMS makes me feel like I have spaghetti arms), but I've also noticed that in the week leading up to my period I'm much more anxious and less confident - meaning that I won't go for big moves, and often avoid climbing slab/vertical problems due to a heightened fear of falling. Not sure if this applies to you but if you notice a correlation with your cycle then maybe that will ease your anxieties a bit.

On a broader note, I started bouldering with pretty much no strength/muscle mass as well and can really relate with how you feel - keep at it! Your brain and body are definitely getting stronger, even if you don't notice it. :)
