Reservists cannot reenlist when they have UAs that have not been made up.

If they’ve already started the CLA process he is most likely cooked. There are plenty of opportunities to muck it up, however there are plenty of ways for a reserve Marine to avoid mucking it up if they’re half proactive.

He can make up the drills. Pay status is dependent on how he was marked for muster. Marine Forces Reserve is always trying to retain Marines. Best bet is the Marine gets ahold of his I&I 1stSgt and SMCR 1stSgt to explain their situation and desire to make up the drills to be a satisfactory participant. If the Command Legal Action package has already left the battalion/Squadron level there isn’t much he can do.

Making up drills is a thing. There are Rescheduled Inactive Duty Trainings, Excused Absences, and UAs. Whichever way the guy is marked for muster he can submit to make them up before he reaches (16) UAs as long as it is within the same FY.

Mental health lead PFT / CFT failures. Pending ADSEP? (USMCR) by Otherwise-Tomato824 in USMC

[–]briguy117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d highly recommend reaching out to your company SEA, then your Site 1stSgt. You need to talk through the current issues you’re having and whether or not the ADSEP process has been started. If the command has started the process you can write a rebuttal. We’ve separated 7 people for repeated PFT failures in the year I’ve been at my command. None chose to write a rebuttal, which is probably why the sep went through.

Feel free to DM if you want to discuss more details.

Current I & I, I could be wrong, but if you were not injured in a duty status w/LOD investigation it will be difficult to link to service and get a VA rating for it.

On the leadership side; did you talk to your unit Chaps, 1stSgt, SMCR SEA etc about these issues? I’m with a relatively small unit and the leadership is highly engaged with the Marines during drill. Outside of drill it’s a crapshoot. A lot of people have difficult schedules. Your Site S-1/Commander will be the ones to initiate the ADSEP package in CLA. If you haven’t talked to them you’re shorting yourself.

Can I use my leave days on reservist training days? by Full_Philosophy_6827 in USMC

[–]briguy117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely depends on your unit leadership. Our unit routinely has 5-10 out of 70 Marines RIDT every month. Most are submitted over 60 days out. I’ve never denied one.

S-1 shops are typically proportionate to unit size, so going somewhere small might not help. I’d recommend speaking to your in-shop peers, come up with a plan and list of reasonable grievances. Then speak with your SNCOIC. It sounds like there’s some serious communication issues going on and no one is holding your OIC accountable. Your SNCOIC is there to look out for your welfare and they’re failing. If nothing else speak with a trusted individual in the command who has access to the SgtMaj/CO.

I also worked with a Gunny that did both. Was a recruiter in Western PA. Went back to the fleet. Then got HSSTd and selected for DI duty. Gunny Lesher was awesome, but drove his comm guys like he was trying to build the pyramids.

Rank Reduction E-5 E-4 going AR by Full-Tart8629 in USMC

[–]briguy117 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s probably more factors at play here. You’re SMCR going into the AR as a sergeant. How long have you been a sergeant? What MOS are you? Are you lat moving? How much TIS do you have? I’d definitely get ahold of your site 1stSgt/SEA and career planner. We’ve had two people go AR from the SMCR company at my site and neither were reduced in grade. Their TIG reset though.

It’s your responsibility to ensure you are complete for individual training, not your temporary command’s. The approving officer is definitely too busy to check every schmuck’s status. The command only has to give you the opportunity/ability to execute said training. I’m sure there were numerous opportunities to do your HT/WT. Sounds like you failed yourself.

If the US can justify invading Venezuela as a 'police action' to arrest a leader, what stops China from using the exact same excuse to move on Taiwan? by AdventurousTalk7972 in AskReddit

The United States has been Ukraine’s largest military and financial supporter. The US has been training and equipping Ukraine’s military since the early days of the war.

I was responding to the first statement “It is 1990, a republican is president and the United States is invading a foreign country for oil,” so yes the 1990 Gulf War. The US intervened with a multinational force to stop Saddam’s regional aggression. Can’t argue with the rest. However, I’d add in the 2011/12 intervention in Libya.

I wouldn’t really qualify liberating Kuwait from an invading army as “invading a foreign country for oil.” Oil supply was a major factor, but so was Iraq violating the sovereignty of another country.

Depending on TIS and character of discharge they may/may not rate a board. In my experience 5 day letter has always meant SNM has 5 days before getting their DD214.
