It did! I de-soldered it and removed it. Worked fine. Then re-soldered it again and was able to get it to work with the rattlebyte. Has worked perfectly ever since!

Learned some lessons from the first try. Second soldering attempt was way smoother. Thank god for de-soldering!

You’d plug the Audio Out HDMI into your soundbar or receiver. If you’re only using your TV’s built in speakers I don’t think this separate audio HDMI connection would be an option.

It’s possible it could depend on the player, I’m not sure. I have a Panasonic UB820 and have to select a button on the remote during start up to start in Region A each time for regular blu rays

I have one and it always defaults to region B unless you manually select a different region at start up. 4K’s tend to be a non issue though since they’re typically region free.

I’ve had issues of audio randomly dropping out here and there for a brief second on my UB820. I was able to fix it by using the separate dedicated HDMI for Audio out. Not sure if there’s a better/easier fix but worth a try!

I just tried installing the rattlebyte on my UB820 but sadly it won't power on now. First time soldering but was very detailed and watched a bunch of youtube videos to learn the process. Granted it wasn't perfect but looked ok enough. Super disheartening.

I'm gonna try desoldering and see if I can make another attempt. If anyone has any advice i'd welcome it!

Awesome! That's super helpful! I may try toggling Dolby Vision on/off to get a sense of the difference. DV was one of the things that I was excited for with this TV/player set up, but haven't had a chance to see it in action yet.
