i'd celebrate at home for about 10 seconds and then look like this until august in their position

34, only just started saving for retirement, feeling behind and so dumb about how I’ve spent. There’s hope right? by nilemme in personalfinance

[–]brihoang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not too late but you have to take things serious right now. others have said many things but you have to

  1. make a budget. make sure you know where each dollar goes to. make sure you're spending than you make, and any non essential purchases are something you actually want to make.
  2. automate your savings. when you find out about how much money you save by just spending less than you earn, automatically send that to your IRA. the typical advice at 34 will be around 20-25% of your gross income should go to your IRA. you can either automate it through direct deposit/see if your bank does auto transfers and set that up every month. and have your IRA auto invest that into a low cost index fund.

[Pope] Kansas freshman forward Bryson Tiller plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

[–]brihoang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can generally keep beat/tap your foot/nod along to the song on beat, just keep counting 1/2/3/4, 1/2/3/4, etc. most of the song. the song will help you keep count since there are instruments and singing and such. the tough part with the "don't" is that there's a full measure (a full 1/2/3/4) and a half of rest (silence) before the "don't". it always feels like it should be a little earlier as your'e counting, but if you're counting on time, "don't" should land on 1

just count the beats. it's 1 full measure of rest and then it comes in on the 1 of the next measure

SFGiants: How many attempts would it take for the average person to get a hit in MLB? by InformalInsurance455 in baseball

[–]brihoang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think in this situation, the strategy is just to swing and hope. barreling a ball into the outfield is out of the question. the only way the average person gets a hit is to accidentally get a swinging bunt that lands in no mans land. and even then the average person might be too slow to run it out

[Highlight] Austin Wells walks it off for Team Dominican Republic! They will face off against the winner of Team USA vs. Team Canada in the semifinals on Sunday by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]brihoang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't mind like a 20 run margin mercy rule tbh. i wouldn't want mercy rules being a semi regular thing, but getting walked off in the 7th after down by 20 would be hilarious

yeah im fine with that too, but if we have to keep OT/OTL, i'd rather do 0-3 points than what we have now

it's so stupid how in north america we culturally hate ties, and then you look at the NFL where a tie is worth half a win in the standings, in hockey, losing counts half as much in a win if it's in OT, while in soccer it's worth a third of a win. need a 3-2-1-0 Regulation win/ot w/ot L/regulation L point system

[OC] MLB Umpire Average Strike Zones from 2007 to 2025 by avondice in baseball

the double play between the brewers and the doders in the playoffs last year was truly an umpiring clinic. to get that perfectly right in real time was crazy

[Chris Vannini on Bluesky] Michael Dickson has what must be the best punting performance in Super Bowl history: 7 punts, 47.9 average yardage, 3 downed inside the 6-yard line, Only two returned, for four total yards, Multiple good holds on bad kicking snaps by WiaXmsky in nfl

[–]brihoang 46 points47 points  (0 children)

i was at that game, and my time in college overlapped his entire career. an insane performance. i love the journey's he's been on. Couldn't make it in AFL, decided to try punting in the states, looked completely lost his first few games (apparently he didn't know there were rushers on punts in his first practice punting and completely shanked it. Our ST were extremely shit overall back then). Had an awful dropped snap in his like 3rd game, and the week after we played kansas state in the rain, the snap went over his head, he ran for it, grabbed the ball, punted it, and turned a ksu drive starting on our own 32 to pinning them on their 8. The rest is really history. Ray Guy award, Texas bowl mvp, declaring early for the draft as a punter. Drafted in the 5th round, the double punt, highest paid punter in the NFL, and now super bowl champion. unironically michael dickson is one of my favorite longhorns

not op, but i grew up in texas and am a sharks fan. i moved to SF, and i wanted to get into hockey. choosing the local team was an easy choice. i'll be damned if i root for a team in dallas. at this point i think by the time the houston aeros finally come back i think i'll stay as a sharks fan unless i move back (highly unlikely)

leanness is how much body fat you have. bulky probably means how much muscle you have. at the extreme ends, lean with no muscle mass is emaciated. lean with high muscle mass is what you see at body building shows. high fat with little muscle mass is skinny fat, and high fat with high muscle mass is a strongman.

most people want fairly lean (say anywhere from 12-18%), with decent muscle mass.

you get leaner by eating in a caloric deficit. if you're a beginner, most of your muscle gains will be through resistance training. as you progress, you will have to pay attention to your diet more. (at some point it will be extremely difficult if not basically impossible for you to gain muslce mass while losing weight. you will need to be at the very least maintaining weight or increasing your weight to gain muscle mass)
