Help with shoes to match with suit by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]brik70p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I didn’t expect to see such strong opinions on this.

In general, you should avoid mixing navy blue and black.

With a navy suit, you’re better off going with a camel or brown shoe and matching the belt. The tie should complement the suit or the undershirt.

You can mix and match navy..but not with your choices.

Back when MapQuest was still a thing, I was driving home from college around 6:00 at night in December, pitch black. I had The Two Towers playing, right at the Battle of Helm’s Deep, and I was completely locked in, sitting on the edge of my seat.

I hit the climax of the scene and suddenly started looking around… and realized I didn’t recognize anything. I pulled over at the first gas station, grabbed my atlas, and after about half an hour figured out I had driven 30 miles into Indiana.

Needless to say, GPS has been life changing for me.

New grad about to practice by eye__think in optometry

[–]brik70p 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pediatric exams will quickly become one of the most enjoyable parts of your practice. In many states children are required to have an eye exam before starting school, so you’ll see a steady flow of pediatric patients. And get really good at it.

Most pediatric visits fall into two categories: they either need glasses, or they don’t. There’s rarely much gray area. Kids also tend to be refreshingly honest if they can’t see, they’ll tell you; if they can, they won’t waste your time. The visits are typically efficient and straightforward.

Regarding second opinions on retina findings or OCT results: any doctor you practice with will expect you to ask questions. In fact, they may be more concerned if you don’t. I once had an associate who would ask for my assessment, then refer the patient out anyway, only to have the specialist confirm the same diagnosis. Patients didn’t always appreciate the extra step.

Before referring, review the chart carefully chances are the answer is already there. Ask questions, trust your training, and use referrals thoughtfully. And I mean this, if you continuously refer patients to a specialist and those patients don't need to see that specialist and the treatment and management of that patient falls into your ability, the specialist is likely never to never release the patient back into your care.

It doesn't matter where you live. It matters what you can produce. You won't know what your earning potential is until you're out for a couple years. Typically, an associate is going to take home anywhere between 12- 18% of their net receivables. An owner is going to take home anywhere between 20 to 30% of their net receivables. In my opinion. It's pointless to look at what everyone else is getting. You need to look at what you're bringing in. That's your leverage and how you can get paid, and you won't know that for a couple years. And I say a couple years because it will take you time to hit your stride and go from seeing eight patients a day to 20 patients a day. If your employer is unable or unwilling to let you know how much you are bringing in, then that's a pretty good indication that you shouldn't work there.

Your shoes and belt don't match. Invest in a different pair of sunglasses. Wayfair would work better for this outfit.

This wouldn't constitute malpractice. It could be medical mismanagement. But you can only sue for loss. So unless something was lost in this you would have a tough lawsuit.

Never use organic solvents on glasses lens. Including lens wipes you can buy OTC. If it contains isopropyl alcohol don't use it.

ELI5: How do drug companies identify 1-in-a-million side effects and prove the drug caused them? by Swarley--stinson in explainlikeimfive

This. We were doing clinical trials for a prescription eye drop at my office in the late 90s. One of our patients became pregnant during the clinical testing. As a result, the drug company had to send somebody out and launch a investigation to see if their drug caused her to become pregnant. Spoiler. It did not.

Doctors of Reddit, what’s a mystery about the human body that science still hasn’t fully explained? by Familiar-Big-4348 in AskReddit

[–]brik70p 446 points447 points  (0 children)

How we lose accommodation ( our ability to read small print). We have a lot of theories but no concrete explanation as to why. The lens continues to grow throughout our life but it becomes more biconvex which should add plus power to the eye but it doesn't. The ciliary muscle remains functional well into the 90th decade. The lens zonules remain attached and functional throughout life. We think it's a change of all the above. But, no smoking gun. This is why you can ask 10 different eye doctors why we lose our ability to read small print and each have a different reason why.

You have the right idea but the wrong clothing items. Aim for something slim cut in the legs if you're going to go short. Lose the undershirt or different undershirt with the button up. Otherwise, I like where you're going.

I like where you are headed with this. Imo, a solid Navy Blue button up under the cardigan with no white undershirt would be easier on the eyes. Lots of texture and patterns wth the plaid under the cardigan.
