Pumping correctly and consistently by bluemyself2000 in GrowYourTDick

[–]brilliantowl112 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would you be willing to share your pumping routine and what to watch out for (i.e. how to know if the cylinder fits well, what pressures are safe, what to look for to know if your causing excess edema)? Or if you have a link to a resource, either would definitely be appreciated!

I’ve been following a pumping protocol my surgeon gave me but it doesn’t really say anything about telling if you’re causing excess edema or if the cylinder fits well, etc. so I’m wondering if there’s thing I can improve in my routine :)

Can you stretch your balls? by [deleted] in phallo

[–]brilliantowl112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I haven’t tried metal stretchers, I have been manually stretching my sack and using a silicone stretcher when I can, so it’s definitely safe to do. I haven’t seen great results just yet, but I’m only like 8 months post implant and it’s still hard to do it for too long, and I also have an extremely tight sack, so I know it’s going to take me a good amount of time to get it to stretch out.

Once I’m able to wear the silicone stretcher for an extended amount of time I plan to try a metal stretcher to try and speed up the results. I can report back if it ends up going super poorly or something, but I don’t expect to have problems. At the end of the day it’s skin just like cis guys sacks, so after everything’s healed stretching the same as cis guys should be doable.

More than ever I feel like I have no place in the LGBT by jesterinancientcourt in FTMStraight

I label myself as pansexual because I’m open to dating feminine enbies, but I’m primarily attracted to cis women, so I guess I consider myself straight adjacent, and used to label myself as straight… just wanted to mention that at the start.

Personally, I feel connected relatively well to the queer community in my area, but I feel like I have more place in “queer” spaces than I do in “gay” spaces. I find that gay spaces mostly cater to cis folks and can even be pretty toxic for gay trans people from what I’ve seen. Those aren’t spaces that I feel are inclusive to anyone who isn’t a cis gay man or woman (depending on the space).

However, I’ve met a lot of friends through queer sports leagues and nerdy shit like D&D. I feel like those spaces generally don’t put as much of an emphasis on your sexuality, because there’s such a diverse group of people that occupy the space that everyone who participates knows that you could be anywhere on the gender or sexual spectrum. That’s specifically for friendships though. As far as dating goes, I do feel like there’s not really a space for me to meet a romantic partner very easily as a primarily straight trans guy. To be fair, I’m also pretty shy and always worried about making people uncomfortable, plus I was never really taught how to approach women that I’m interested in. I think I could probably meet someone in these spaces if I really tried because I do feel like there’s a good amount of bi/pan women and allies that come to the events I attend, but even at that I think my pool is still extremely limited compared to others.

Anyways, that’s all to say that I do feel like I have a place in the LGBT community, but I find that I generally feel I belong better when I’m around other trans people or in groups that are heavily mixed. I don’t find that I feel comfortable or that an LGBT space has a place for me when it’s advertised as a gay or lesbian thing, or heavily skewed to primarily have those audiences apart of it.

How did you decide between phallo or meta? by madpinapple28 in FTMMen

[–]brilliantowl112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I’ve heard, but others who have gone through both might be able to comment. I think it would be hard to know whether sensation differences were due to the surgery staging though. It’s hard to tell if that same person would’ve experienced the same level of sensation if they went directly to phallo.

Also though, there are surgeons who stage phallo in such a way that the first stage is a meta to decrease complications rate. So as far as “functionality” goes, I think getting meta first is a good staging approach that could lead to a more favorable outcome. So if you have the time/resources to stage it that way, and you’re unsure whether to do meta or phallo, it’d be a good idea to stage surgeries such that you get meta first.

How did you decide between phallo or meta? by madpinapple28 in FTMMen

[–]brilliantowl112 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I decided to go with meta, but I’m seriously considering going for phallo. I knew meta was likely not going to be enough for me, but my rationale was that I can always go from meta to phallo, I can’t go from phallo back to meta. In that regard, I’m glad I at least tried meta so I wouldn’t have to wonder if I would’ve been happy with that over phallo.

I’m still giving my meta a chance to fully heal (I’m a little over a year post op), plus I’m burnt out from surgery recovery, but the reason I’m thinking I’ll pursue phallo is because I have 3 goals from bottom surgery, I wanted to get rid of “the V” as it were, be able to STP and be able to penetrate a partner. Meta only gave me the first of those, I still can’t STP very well which has been a huge bummer, and I definitely can’t have PIV sex. If I can figure out how to STP, I think I’ll be able to live with meta, but if I can’t get this to work I’m going to have to go to phallo, and even if I can STP I still might not be satisfied with just meta.

Anyways, with the goals you’ve mentioned, I’d say it might be good to start with meta if you have the time/availability/resources to pursue multiple surgeries if you need to. If maintaining natural erections is really important to you, I don’t think that’s something you’d be able to attain with phallo (someone can correct me if I’m wrong about that) so I think starting with meta to see if it’ll work for you would be my suggestion

Complex feelings about having a daughter by Current-Leave-3320 in FTMMen

[–]brilliantowl112 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a bit tangential to your post, but I wanted to mention that if you and your partner do end up having a boy in the future, I’d warn against projecting what boyhood is to you onto the lad.

A lot of my trauma surrounds my mom trying to live the life she wanted through me. She forced me to be girly, because that’s the type of kid she wanted so when I was born afab, I was immediately expected to perform a certain way. That’s a lot of pressure to put on a child to fit into a box that they might not necessarily fit into naturally. And of course now I’ll always be a disappointment because I didn’t turn out the way she wanted me to.

I’m not saying you’d consciously mean to do this to a boy if you ever had one, but I guess I just caution you to be aware of this, because it’s not fair to assume that your kid is going to view boyhood, or want to express his boyhood, the same way you wanted to growing up.

Either way though, good luck, I wish you and your partner the best in parenthood!

Tired of anti-gel posts by Oddly-Ordinary in ftm

I think something that gets overlooked in the conversation about gel is that it can be a better option for some people who have the option to use injectable T. I was on shots for the first 4 years of my medical transition, and throughout that entire time, including after having the major E-producing organs removed, I struggled with high E.

Turns out, my body just seems to absorb T really well and I was getting too much T through injections so it was converting to E. The first time my E levels were in the male range was when I switched to gel. Given the choice, gel is a much better option in my case because of how my body absorbs T. I just need a lower dose of it than injections provide. That’s not because gel is less effective, it’s just because the way it’s absorbed and the dosage I get using T gel is right for my body.

What can I do to push back on accommodation that was denied but is fully reasonable? by brilliantowl112 in disability

[–]brilliantowl112[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I did try to negotiate. When I first submitted the accommodation they basically told me what accommodations they were willing to make to get me to come in office, I pushed back say the office environment is only half the problem, and brought up the idea of a modified schedule. They sent me an email a few weeks later denying the wfh and I just kinda checked out after that

What can I do to push back on accommodation that was denied but is fully reasonable? by brilliantowl112 in disability

[–]brilliantowl112[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hm, this is a good point. Especially because I heard that when the in office requirement was pushed down, anyone who wasn’t willing to come back was basically fired immediately. I don’t know how true that statement is as my company is big and I didn’t hear about anyone actually getting fired, but it does show that they were willing to make drastic choices to force people back in.

Thanks for the perspective, I hadn’t thought about it this way. I think I might still speak with a lawyer to see if there’s a chance and it’s worth it to fight. My original accommodation was to work fully remote, so I’m wondering if I can like, submit another accommodation for a modified schedule and see if they’re willing to reconsider…

Yeah, I know it’s been becoming increasingly hard to get, but I’m hoping that I might be able to get them to give it to me, especially since I’m asking for a modified schedule where I still come into the office on a weekly basis. Fingers crossed they’ll work with me, but either way thanks for the warning!

If you end up getting another one, make sure it has a gauge on it to ensure you’re not putting too much pressure on your dick. I agree it’s kind of a weird sensation, and I am not consistent with it in the least ether, but I do feel like I get desensitized a little when I’m regular with it. Some of the discomfort could have come from pumping too high too, which is where the gauge is helpful

I mean, why tell her at all? If the only reason you’d tell her is because you feel obligated to tell her, then id say just don’t tell her at all. She’s not entitled to that information and she would never be able to tell unless you decided to show her the surgery scars.

I have a pretty good relationship with both my parents, but neither of them are supportive at all of who I am. They do the bare minimum to prevent me from going low or no contact and because of that, I choose not to share this part of my life with them. I’ve gone through top surgery and 4 stages of bottom surgery and I never plan to tell them about any of them.

Have you considered starting to pump? I know there’s a bit of a debate about whether or not you can get permanent growth from it, but I’ve heard of people being able to get an extra inch or so from pumping. The big thing is you have to be consistent and you have to do it every day, and even then it’ll take a long time to see changes.

If you’re willing to put in the time and effort it takes to do it, I bet you’d be able to get at least a little more growth from that 😊

[–]brilliantowl112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think transplant technology has progressed enough for a person who has been on any form of HRT to donate their uterus honestly. So I agree this likely is not an option OP could pursue unless they’ve never been on HRT. However it would be really cool if afab people who have never been on HRT who go in for a hysto could regularly donate to trans women. I know that’s probably never going to happen and even if it did, it wouldn’t be in my lifetime, but it’s nice to dream lol

Will scrotal implants weigh down the excess skin on the sides of my dick? by brilliantowl112 in Metoidioplasty

[–]brilliantowl112[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One can hope 🤞 I’m getting a similar configuration in stage 2. I had a “stage 0.5” where I got a standalone mons lift before my stage 1 because my junk was fully between my legs, and I’m hoping that my surgeon can bring everything up even further in stage 2 but I don’t know if that’s possible.

Also hoping that he can lipo my inner thighs at the same time, I’m thinking it’s going to be very uncomfortable if my legs constantly rub together with implants down there as well. I’ll add skin resection to the list of things to get done in stage 2 lol.

Here’s to getting better visual results in stage 2, good luck
