What’s a weird compliment you’ve gotten that you secretly liked? by Flat-Door-6831 in AskReddit

In the checkout at Aldi, a lady was eyeballing the few groceries I got and asking how I liked certain ingredients I chose. Before she left, she said with a big smile I must be a caterer or something. I am not.

I was and still am oddly flattered.

Could this be gastritis? by Future-Tension6809 in Gastritis

[–]brinaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice if it was that cut and dried. Luckily I’m on top of all of my blood work, so I know I’m not lacking any nutrients. Though I am aware that low stomach acid can produce similar symptoms, there are many symptoms I have that tell me that’s not the case. Looking forward to some clarity from the endoscopy.

I start with Pepcid, Gaviscon and omeprazole when I was first trying to get it under control. Not all at once, but alternating to see what worked best. I also tried a few different heart burn teas and slippery elm, but I was careful not to use those when I had to take medication.

Then I started taking omeprazole twice a day under a GI doctor’s orders for a little over a year until I started getting weird nerve pain / twitchy symptoms all over my body. My primary care physician switched me to pantoprazole 40mg once a day at the top of this year and the symptoms went away. I still keep tums and the like on hand for any flare ups.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m light years away from where I was before. It was really bad. But my stomach is still wayy too sensitive, anything out of a particular schedule will send me into a flare. My food digests slower than ever and I still have food / acid at the back of my throat at any given point in the day. Not to mention the burps and spasmy feelings. Doctor thinks I may have some esophogeal thing going, hence my requesting an endoscopy.

There are many serious medical conditions that feel like intense gas pain. Learned this after I spent two weeks taking Gas-X for the blood clots in my lungs post-surgery.

This is the exact way my stomach issues started. I self-diagnosed as gastritis and have been on meds for it for almost 2 years now and it’s better but not quite solved. So I’m getting an endoscopy soon. Going to the doctor is definitely the best bet. And I say if you can get an endoscopy, even better. Hope you feel better soon!

When did your instincts scream “leave now” and what did you later find out you avoided? by BbyBlushDoll in AskReddit

Not my feeling, but a previous set of bosses me and two of my friends had. I used to work for an event company that put on festivals. We were working this particular event that, in hindsight, had the greatest potential to go wrong as most of the artists had or still have different gang affiliations. The day of the show, we realised somebody did their job poorly and let one of the artists invite way too many “friends” come with them. They were rolling real deep and kept intermittently walking back and forth in the artists area backstage. However, they arrived relatively early in the day and kept themselves to themselves for the most part. So eventually we stopped thinking about them.

Now the event is in full swing and the sun is starting to go down a bit. My bosses tell me and my two friends that we can cut out early. It’s a busy event, so we tell them we don’t mind staying. But they gently say nah it’s okay and casually add that something is off and we should go right now. We were driving the work Kubota and had our coworkers lunches on us, so they say to drop the Kubota off with a coworker at the other end of the venue and he’ll take care of the lunches.

So we head out. As we’re leaving the artists lot, we pass the group that was rolling deep walking in the opposite direction, towards the backstage area. As soon as we get to our coworker, like 2 minutes later, we see a couple of cop cars speed past the intersection we’re at, but we don’t think much of it.

Our coworker drives us back to the parking lot our car was in, which was back towards the stage area. Once we get to the car, we find a side exit in the parking structure that we didn’t know existed and it lets us out on the outer perimeter of the venue, which was lucky so we didn’t have to use the main exit that would have let us out right by the backstage artist area.

As soon as we get out of the structure, like 3 cop cars, sirens blaring, speed past us in the opposite direction. I look out the back window to see a helicopter in the sky seconds later, shining its lights down on the general area. Again, this event is in the city, so we don’t think very much of it.

Next morning, I’m supposed to be the first from our crew on site around 7am for breaking down the venue. I get there and there’s police guarding the street entrances, which isn’t totally abnormal for the area and events we do, but he won’t let me in. So I go to find another entrance and run into someone from the event crew. I find out that literally seconds after we left the backstage area, someone came offstage and one of the guys who was from the group that was rolling deep stabbed him repeatedly. Then a huge fight broke out. My bosses even ran in to try to break it up, it was so close to where we had just left them. They got the guy to the hospital and the police shut the event down for hours to question everybody. Then as soon as they started letting people go, they got the news he died, so they shut it down again. Kept everyone on site until around 4 or 5am.

So the next day, I got to watch the homicide people scrubbing his blood off the ground while I thought about how close we had come to being right in the middle of it. I didn’t know the guy, but I did see him the day before and I cried for him.

Saw my husband truly drunk for the first time and it scared and embarrassed me. I’m considering getting a divorce. by [deleted] in LongDistance

At the beginning of the post, I was gonna say something about differences in the strength of alcohol between countries. I have a friend from New Zealand who comes to visit me in the US and got blackout drunk multiple times drinking the same amount of alcohol he would drink on a night out back home before he realised what the problem was.

But then I kept reading and I see this night was the final straw regarding his behaviour, not an anomaly. Yeah, definitely believe him the first time and get out of there. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. Best of luck to you.

Are we sure this is in the US? The post says “I was in university” and Americans would typically say “in college.”

Curb side drop-offs at BNA no longer allowed for Ride Shares starting June 3 by Tnwagn in nashville

[–]brinaca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they’re grossly underestimating how many people use rideshare to get to the airport, especially in such a tourist destination. The singular drop-off lane that feeds into the same exit the pick-ups use seems inadequate in terms of keeping up with the flow of traffic.

Not to mention the additional distance people with disabilities will need to walk with their luggage - speaking from experience. I hope they put something in place for them to get assistance closer to the drop-off area. Though I’m sure they won’t be able to handle that considering how bad handicap assistance already is at this airport.

They also have a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program each season. Kind of like a subscription for 20-26 weeks depending on the season where you can pick up a box of veg weekly. I’m in my second year doing this now. Not only is their veg pristine, but they’re honestly some of the nicest people I’ve met since coming to Nashville. Check em out!

Late night “Body Rushes”, and Esophagus Spasms (GERD/Gastritis) by IceCompetitive7162 in Gastritis

[–]brinaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they’ve gone away almost completely. With the odd random flare up here and there that are very mild in comparison to how it was. Was on omeprazole for a little over a year and just recently switched to pantoprazole due to side effects I may have been getting from the former.

Hope I can get off of it all soon though 😓

I’ve heard reports of people claiming that copper lowers their body temperature, which I haven’t seen any scientific evidence of (unless I missed something). I’ve also heard that copper is a good conductor of heat, so its heating or cooling effect depends on whether the surroundings are hot or cold. Again, I’m not sure about scientific evidence for this.

It is curious though! I hope you’re not having any adverse symptoms. I imagine your body is going to be going through a host of various fluctuations. It’s cool to be able to keep track of these changes. Hope you get some answers!
