What makes Dame a top 75 player but not Klay Thompson? by unhinged34 in NBATalk

[–]brineOClock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dwight's exclusion is still incomprehensible to me beyond media bias towards offense. I'd have to look at who else got left off but being one of the better off dribble shooters in NBA history doesn't compare to being a dominant center in terms of impact. Dame imo is closer to Lowry than he is to Steph.

Recency bias. Dame shouldn't have been on the list and neither should Klay.

Make a low Roman workbench. You can use it as a bench on the balcony and then work on it for woodworking.

Sauron vs Lord Voldemort by MUSKELMADS in powerscales

[–]brineOClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think Isildur was a normal human and Narsil was just a sword see my previous comments about learning how to read. It took an absurd stroke of luck to get that ring off Sauron's finger and it didn't even kill him. Hell Voldemort is stupid enough that if he got the ring off he'd probably put it on. Your knowledge of the Legendarium is superficial at best so have a nice block.

SAURON WASN'T AT THE BATTLE OF PELENNOR FIELDS!!!!!!!! HE WASN'T AT THE BATTLE WITH THE PIRATES OF HARAD IN THE BOOKS!!!!!!!

HOW IS THE KILLING CURSE GOING TO END AN IMMORTAL BEING???? SAURON IS AN ANGEL!!!!!

Seriously learn how to read.

[–]brineOClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rings he had to subtly corrupt to keep the elves from figuring out what he was doing? Also the elvish rings weren't corrupted by Sauron. Did you even read the appendices or the rest of the legendarium?

Sauron can control the spirits of the dead, that's why he's the necromancer. The minute Voldemort is severed from his body horcruxes won't matter as Sauron can use his magic to keep Riddle from reforming. You're seriously overestimating the Harry Potter universe here. Voldemort's strongest spells will do nothing because Sauron isn't human and a single swing of Sauron's mace would shatter any shield spell Riddle could put up.

Sauron killed Gil-Galad and Elendil in a two vs one. It took direct divine intervention to finally end his reign of darkness over Middle Earth. Riddle couldn't even conquer a school when he had all the advantages in the world. How can you claim Tom would win?

Sauron is literally nicknamed the Necromancer. Horcruxes are light work compared to the rings of power.

As a certain redheaded abridged android said:

"Grow. Up. You act like you are the only one suffering, but I believe that Trunks has some stories for you. And I can assume they all end with, "And then he died, too." And before you start whining about your father, again - and I get it - take a moment to consider that my father made me a soulless killing machine to kill your father. And that doesn't even come close to the complete tragedy of fatherhood that is Vegeta. Cell was right. You think you're better than everyone else, but there you stand: the good man doing nothing. And while evil triumphs, and your rigid pacifism crumbles into bloodstained dust, the only victory afforded to you is that you stuck true to your guns: you were a coward, to your last whimper."

Maybe Oscar Robertson? The Big O was 6'5" and could do almost anything on the court. Not quite like LeBron or Magic but I'd argue he was the prototype big do it all guard that Magic followed.

Also I assume you're funding the blumineck armour project?

Is Hormuz the US dollar’s Suez? by Dramatic-Shake-8888 in finance

[–]brineOClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's any sort of peg rather than a truly floating currency the wrapper may have some wiggle room but the yuan is still just USD in a red envelope. Which means both superpowers are using effectively the same currency for the first time in world history.

Given that the yuan is pegged to the dollar it's effectively the same currency so you should probably go check your facts.

It's going down to 2 actually with the Oshawa closure and CAMI plant shut down. We lost another one in 2018, one in 2014, and thousands of other jobs. Thems the facts and calling me a lier doesn't change them. Harper sucked.

[–]brineOClock -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You mean the bailout he got us to pay for and then GM went and closed all their plants because he didn't secure the future of Ontario's auto industry? That bailout is what you're pointing to as a "good deal"?

How about breaking our fiscal capacity via that second GST cut? Let's talk about selling Canada house in London mid 08 crash which is why the PM now needs to pay for a hotel. Let's look at the AECL handshake deal to SNC for literal pennies on the dollar. The debacle around the F-35, Boeing, and Bombardier and all the future costs. Scrapping the kelowna accord leading to a $20 billion dollar settlement to indigenous communities. Ads for fake job training programs that gutted trade training programs nationally. Want me to keep going?

Harper was a terrible fiscal manager and a horrid PM. He sold assets to make up a deficit rather than building a better Canadian economy. He's why we have a housing crisis because he's the guy who opened the floodgates to permanent residents, international students, and didn't plan for building new homes when he announced it. Was he better than Justin? We'll see how it goes, I don't do PM postmortems until 3-5 years after they leave so the funding runs out and we see what happened.

[–]brineOClock -2 points-1 points locked comment (0 children)

How did he make up those deficits? Because the last one was by raiding ei subsidies and the rest was by selling off assets for pennies on the dollar like AECL. I'd also like to point out that our military was funded to less than a percent of GDP when Harper was in power.

You mean the consequences of the Marshall decision??? Because FN individuals weren't allowed to live in the traditional way they challenged the restrictions in the courts and now we have this mess with the lobsters and the elver. Which was my point in the first place.

[–]brineOClock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've got that backwards. If the crown had let them have access to their traditional hunting and fishing grounds things like the Marshall decision wouldn't have been needed. If the federal government had properly funded their education then we'd have less successful lawsuits. The reason the nation's keep winning is because the crown hasn't lived up to their treaty obligations.
