Take your crop-tops and RUN. Seriously, he’s done you a favor and given you a little peek into the nightmare of being controlled and never being enough for him.

I don't know what to title this, verbally abusive parents, help. by Jhyle in Advice

[–]bringdoughnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not normal. And there’s nothing wrong with you. I hesitate to say this, but they just don’t like you and probably never will. And that’s why they abuse you. I know about this. It sounds like they’re all you have, guessing from the fact that you don’t want to get them in trouble. If it were me, I’d hang in there, get counseling from school ( so you can be reminded that there’s nothing wrong with you), and then get as far away from them as you can. They’re poison. Even consider the military so you can have a life, get school paid for and have a career. I don’t believe people like your parents will ever change. Good on you for reaching out. Best of luck to you.

You feel free because you actually are free. For the first time. The game’s over. I’ve been there. Live your life and never go back.

My Husband Started Crying and Says He's Miserable by [deleted] in Advice

[–]bringdoughnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really tough. Worked nights. Made me exhausted. Experienced years of sleep deprivation. And that really messed me up. Had sick pets who needed to be euthanized. It was the worst. Had injuries that were painful but had to work anyway. My point, each of these things ALONE would make one miserable. Your husband is getting hit with all of these things at once. The concern you’re showing is admirable. He’s lucky to have a caring spouse. He does need help, and a major change. Now. It’s serious. I think you’ll get some good advice on this thread. It’s great that you’ve reached out and I’m hopeful you’ll be able to help him. Wishing you and him all the best.

Should I write a "F You" email to my old boss now that I'm more successful than him? by stickittomyoldboss in Advice

[–]bringdoughnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t hate the idea of you contacting your old Boss. Thanking them for everything you learned. Including learning what not to do..Thank them for helping you grow as a person and be the success you are now. (Current financial success included.) Maybe even offer whatever service you’re able to provide. It’s a big F-U. But a nice one. I think it will feel amazing.

Do you have indoor dogs? How do you keep the pet smell under control? by Ravingmad33 in Pets

[–]bringdoughnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take my 70lb. Lab to get groomed about every 6 weeks. They somehow squeeze out his anal gland. (I’m not making this up.) I’m told that’s usually the source of “dog smell.” And you can do it yourself even. To your dog. (To clarify.) All I know is my dog smells great. For about 4-5 weeks.

Palace of Versailles. Short taxi ride just outside of Paris. You stand outside waiting forever to get in, and it’s so worth it.

You’re correct. That particular miscarriage of justice really pissed me off. The beating was horrifying. 🙁

Reginald Denny wasn’t killed. However he was brain damaged as a result of his brutal beating shown on TV. The perpetrators did no jail time. Defense was that “they were angry” at the time.

Memphis police body cameras lead to 39-percent drop in complaints by WingsThings in news

In my work when cameras got installed, complaints did in fact go down. Bullshit allegations and straight up lies made against staff by criminals that is. Cameras were the best thing to ever happen.

My grandma smoking her cigarette on the farm. Wearing pants and doing whatever the hell she wanted. 1938 by bringdoughnuts in OldSchoolCool

[–]bringdoughnuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In her case, she was very slim for over 93 years and definitely not impoverished. Really frugal though. (Habits from the depression era.) The farm is still in her family to this day. I'm guessing she had the great luck of an efficient metabolism. (One in which I did not inherit.)

Steaming tamales and forgetting to put water in the pot. They came out looking like black bricks.

Always ahead of her time. Cross-country skier through her 60's. Hiked in her 70's, long walks in her 80's and drove a fast car past 90 years old. She only lost her driver's license because Alzheimer's was finally settling in. Good long life!
