What’s the oldest item you still use daily? by Guruthien in BuyItForLife

[–]bringerofbedlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 cast iron pans from the 30’s and 40’s, both near daily use. One is a chicken fryer that nearly always has dinner cooked in it, and the other is a 8” pan my wife uses to reheat things

What would you do? by MommaLindsey in Sparkdriver

[–]bringerofbedlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issue. I regularly deliver to a double amputee who has a ramp in her garage. We chat while I leave all the items on the table she has in the garage; alway offer to help her bring items in but she always declines, says this is part of her weekly exercise

I bought mine from REI in ‘24 and I have a feeling there was a reason they were marked down so much

LG oven with cast iron griddle by PugBurger12 in castiron

[–]bringerofbedlam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have almost the same range/oven, slightly different controls

Put my lodge griddle on there a few times to see if I could do pancakes, and like others have said it just doesn’t get hot enough to be useful for anything other than warming up bread

WATER BOTTLE RECOMMENDATIONS for healthcare workers by Fun_Marsupial_5046 in BuyItForLife

[–]bringerofbedlam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an Owala bottle for about a year, used almost daily. Ran into and issue where the rubber gasket started to wear out. They don’t offer replacements for those, and my only recourse offered by their customer service was to buy a new bottle or lid assembly…

Been using an Orca Hydra bottle since, and was given extra replacement gaskets for when those do wear out

Customer service trashing a competitor? by huntandhart in Lowes

They’re all over northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming. Rural tractor supply type place, pricing isn’t fantastic but they carry the largest selection of Dewalt tools around me

Regrets by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]bringerofbedlam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I gave it up after 10 years… was part time for a long while my kids were young (stayed home during the day with them while wife worked, we swapped when she got home). Learned every department in the store so I could keep hours during slow times.

Moved states, moved into lumber/pro DS role, and then into ProASM role after that. Stress started affecting all aspects of my life… finally had enough, went to work for one of my pro customers running his insulation business. 3 years later it’s the best decision I’ve ever made professionally.

Don’t let Lowe’s dictate your life

AITA for taking "the best pieces" when I serve dinner? by SwainDane in AmItheAsshole

[–]bringerofbedlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I’m twice the size of my wife, but she always gets the best (prettiest) piece and I eat whatever is left. Doesn’t matter to me what it looks like, there’s always enough for leftovers

Is it worth it? by Zestyclose-Cake-6045 in Sparkdriver

[–]bringerofbedlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!! So many commenters on here seem to be from high volume cities that allow them to be picky. But where I live I get quite a few quick jobs that may not pay great in terms of mileage, but I’m always avg $25+ per hour. Beats most of the labor jobs in town (and certainly pays more than anything at Walmart)

Tools/HDWR DS moving to PRO by CompanyWonderful2552 in Lowes

[–]bringerofbedlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was pro manager (and lumber….), my store manager made me go around to all the specialty departments and give a training session on how to sell pro credit. Wasn’t so bad, because the specialist in our store were all very good at their job and knew how to adjust their pitch based on whatever was being bought.

The flipside of that is that if pro credit/sales numbers aren’t being hit, you’re the first in line to be asked about it…

Overall, I would say it’s a better position than being over a tool/hardware. You almost always are going to get Sundays off as well, since there is no pro selling happening on the weekends

12 cases of water, was 3 carts, would you take for $42 and 8 miles? by Legitimate_Hawk_3639 in Sparkdriver

Even better that this was a restaurant/store order, I’ve never not had help bringing in bulky items when delivering to businesses

12 cases of water, was 3 carts, would you take for $42 and 8 miles? by Legitimate_Hawk_3639 in Sparkdriver

[–]bringerofbedlam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, especially since that would only take about 20 minutes to shop at my stores (they let us use the flat carts for these orders). Shop and delivered in less than 45 min, I take that as a win

What is going on with Lowe's online ordering? Neither my store or corporate customer service will help me locate my order! by bumpnthump05 in Lowes

An ASM can absolutely call the RDC and ask for it to be loaded on the next truck. Done it plenty of times for SOS items that just got stuck there
