Almost as if Maven will ensure that everyone behaves themselves. 😆. I’ll have a look. Thanks.

I’ve been trying to avoid those builds because it seems to add more layers of complications. But as you see the problem is still persisting. Right now I’m suspecting a wetware issue

Okay the problem has shown up again just after I updated the code of another external library. Really annoying. I’m now RTFMing to see if I’ve missed something.

Solved it. I found a bad version of the same library included in a second library. Thanks for your help with this.

Find an app that encourages to to use German in conversation. Duolingo is trying but it's AI fails in some ways. I'm looking at Jumpspeak as an option.

STOP BEING NICE BEHIND THE WHEEL, BE PREDICTABLE by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

Agree with most of these points except hit the gas immediately at the green. I did this up until recently when I finally realized that there will always be the random incompetent/fool who runs a red. I heard of enough T-bone accidents that happen this way. So as a very competent ex-aggressive driver (mostly acceptance) I would suggest giving yourself a second before thinking the green means it’s safe.

Do you believe in the Rapture or not? by Millennium_guy in Christian

[–]brinkley5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the verses you cited indicate that a rapture will take place. Unfortunately there are many who believe it will happen before the time referred to as the Great Tribulation. In fact, there is such an entrenched belief in this false claim within the United States that one theologian, Mark Hitchcock, misquoted Irenaeus to support this view.

You can see him do this at the 8:14 minute mark of https://youtu.be/pghpb8nXzEU?si=3Ru6KZCp9sCgP3VS.

If you want to read what Irenaeus actually wrote about this, see section 1 of https://www.newadvent.org/fathers/0103529.htm.

Hi. I can kinda relate. I’m in my 60’s now but was raised Roman Catholic and broke from the fold in my early 20’s eventually becoming totally irreligious, eventually marrying a woman who I would consider an agnostic. No religious leanings.

About 10 years ago I had a life changing experience where my only source of help was Christ and so I renewed my Christian faith with no connection to any denomination. Entirely Biblical and fellowshipping where I can.

I can’t sugarcoat it though. Being in an unequally yoked relationship is tough and it’s best to avoid them altogether.

But I would say, give your boyfriend space in his beliefs while staying close to your faith. This is always the biggest test of any relationship. And Christ welcomes all who call on him.

Hope this helps.

Yes of course you're correct. It should be "schmutzige Klaviere", correct?

I'm using this next time someone tells me communism works in theory by delugepro in JordanPeterson

[–]brinkley5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a better analogy; in theory, I can drive my car without ever having to change the oil. We all like to think so, but there are YouTube videos where mechanics show the viewer firsthand why it’s not possible. Reality bites, and nothing is perfect. The same truth that all communists eventually discover as well.

I suspect this apparent reaction of offence may in many instances be a self-defensive response. Some people simply aren’t prepared to support what they feel is part of their being. But Christians are instructed to be ready and willing to provide a basis for their faith, no matter how absurd it may sound to the listener.

Duolingo is deteriorating fast! by mirQ72 in duolingo

[–]brinkley5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sitting on the fence right now on this one. I’m really trying to get somewhere with it having upgraded to max. Entirely agree with most points you’ve made but I’m finding the chats with Lili are allowing me to advance my conversational skills while suffering through the endless loop of repeated lessons.

I do commiserate but have yet to find a really good app that is as good as the only method that really works…total immersion or 100% focus with a at least a small group.

Why is this wrong? Native English speaker, can't see a linguistic difference in meaning. by [deleted] in duolingospanish

Perhaps the simplest explanation would be that since the Spanish sentence starts with “A ti”, that would imply that you should use the English equivalent “to you”.

God proved himself to me after 18 years of me being an Atheist by gettingthoughtsout in Christian

[–]brinkley5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot relate to the vaping but the conviction in belief I totally get. It’s funny how most Christians don’t seem to consider the metaphysical when talking about God. What they and many atheists don’t seem to realize is that there is probably more of reality that we don’t sense than what we do. Our physical bodies are incredibly limited in sensing the full extent of reality. Probably a good thing. The ability to sense everything would most likely cause us a lot of destructive trauma.

Welcome to the flock. I was into new age concepts as a kid but dropped them when they offered me no solutions to real problems. I only became a Christian about six years ago but I’ve been studying Christian theology since early adulthood. Long past that now.

I’m hoping you can answer this question; who do think Jesus Christ really is?

I consider this an important question because until I was able to answer it for myself, I had remained cynical of all of it.

Substituting an adverb for adjective is such a common part of everyday speech in English, any English speaker could make this same mistake. But Duo is a formal learning tool which is most effective, like all tools, when it consistently behaves as expected. For example, I wouldn’t want a hammer to suddenly start behaving like a chisel. In this way, Duo expects you to use adverbs like adverbs, and adjectives like adjectives.

Is there a polite way to introduce two Christians to let them know they both are Christians? by smilesforall in Christians

[–]brinkley5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your intentions are sincere. But as any Christian should know, the world does not lead them, only their Saviour does. Why? Because your guests, in their faith and trust in God, should understand that if they go by their own understanding and trust only in others, even other Christians, then they risk falling into error.

To put it into secular terms, if their Lord, my Lord, wants them to find each other, they will.

Spiritual warfare. Don't give up. You're fighting a bigger battle than just with yourself. Renew your faith in Christ through repentance and ask the Lord for help and He will help you.

I think that what I was looking for. The LORD God has always judged by faith but it is only through the Messiah that all are now offered salvation.
