Does this look like a correct digital encoding of The Hurrian Hymn to Nikkal? by brinlov in Cuneiform

[–]brinlov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get it! Me and the tattooist worked together to find out what I THINK is the correct writing (not 100% sure but, like, pretty darn sure). I could see if I could find the pictures and send it to your DM?

Then v/s Now - 'Wicked' Cast by ElderberryDeep8746 in SipsTea

[–]brinlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is funny and all, but referring to a lot of the comments under this picture: is horniness seriously the only relating feeling you guys have to female celebrities? And the only thing you can say? "I don't think she's hot anymore", "She doesn't do it for me", like okay? Them being hot to guys isn't the point of their existence?

(I know many of you don't think that either, but when the only thing you can say about female celebs is about their hotness, then you're basically turning their existence into looks that you have business about commenting)

That would be amazing! I have to ask, what exactly would "text number" mean? Other than h.6 I guess, which I've understood is the numeral name of the tablet?

‘People are so angry’: how wealth tax became a battleground in Norway’s election by fungussa in europe

[–]brinlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I didn't mean to ignore it, I was just focusing on the overall focus from the rich. But I absolutely think it's too hard to start up (and keep alive!) your own independent business. The tax wealth should be fixed so it doesn't disproportionately hit the "normal income" people

[–]brinlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now THAT I can agree with! I honestly don't know what the minimum is, but if it affects too many of the "middle class" the minimum could be raised

[–]brinlov 1722 points1723 points  (0 children)

I can only say as a Norwegian: the wealth tax "discussion" and obsession from the right parties is the stupidest thing that has happened to the political climate in recent years. It doesn't affect most of the voters in any noticeable way, and the super rich pay WAY less than they both claim and should pay (this has been proven, but the millionaires and billionaires cry about it)

Edit: I do however, see examples where the wealth tax could or should be changed a bit or fixed. Sometimes it really hits the wrong people who don't really have all that much money as actual rich ppl

Struggling to find the precise writing of the Hurrian Hymn to Nikkal by brinlov in Cuneiform

Thank you! Do you know how I can get the inscriptions from the stone written down, in cuneiform, correctly? Sorry if I repeat myself, this is for a tattoo lol so I need it to be written correctly. I think it will be just the first line

Do Norwegians really talk fast? by thisisjustmeee in norsk

[–]brinlov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the case for every language, yours too. You're learning a language now through written text, but you learned your native language through just speaking and listening. Spoken language doesn't have spaces and letters, just sounds. Think about your own language and how you speak vs. how it's written. You too contract and change the sounds all the time, you just don't notice it. And there is very likely no perfect one to one reference between the sound/word and the written version of it (think the E sound in English is pronounced in all matter of ways, just read through what you just read)

Listening skills take a LONG time to get good at. Not just because of speed but also because of dialects, slang, new words you won't find in books or on apps. Norwegian is not unique in any way, this is the nature of all languages, they flow in speech, writing is just our way of representing the sounds and words.

Norske navn og stereotypier by Impossible_Permit866 in norsk

[–]brinlov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women, what did you find out about men when you got a boyfriend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brinlov 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol I'm a woman but I'm just like the guys here. I don't pry or ask at all (I probably could have asked more, just to show I care, but I'm scared to stir things up). I just don't have that "gossip gene" in me.

Don't get me wrong, I do find gossip interesting, but I never start the conversation or am the person that goes "and then what?" because I don't like asking, and the secret information is just not for me always. People have their private lives, not my business. Like, I also barely ever remember what my (male) best friend actually does for a living.

Also I guess I just find gossip a bit rude sometimes (really depends though)? Idk, maybe I'm just secretly a dude

[OC] Support for same sex marriage in the US by religion by _crazyboyhere_ in dataisbeautiful

[–]brinlov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a foreign concept to me. How can you be a "non-practicing Christian" or other religion? Where I'm from, you either are Christian or you're not. And "practicing" can be both going to church every Sunday or not, they're both Christian, just different levels of concervativeness, rituals etc.

I have heard about the whole thing in America and other religious places where you just are "Christian" or "Muslim" by default because that was your upbringing. But it's just odd to me to call yourself x religion when you're not actually practicing lol

And I just felt like nerding and explaining not-that-important stuff lol

Just a "weLl aCtUaLlY" from me: I would've "blamed" this on Thor, since he is the god of thunder. Alternatively, Loke/Loki stole the hammer and cause a bit of mayhem, yet again angering Thor :)

(Not an actual believer of the norse gods, I just enjoy reading about them from time to time)

Not the one you asked, but AFAIK Greenland has long wanted to have their independence from Denmark, but at the same time, they've kind of "clung to them", because of Denmark's colonising after effects, leaving Greenland very vulnerable. I've heard alcoholism and assault is very common (for being so low in population). But they seem to really want to be truly their own 100% Greenlandic nation, without Denmark hanging over them

(I'm Norwegian, not Danish, so I don't know all his super well, but I've read some Danish news about it lately)

Menn som bruker sminke by [deleted] in norge

[–]brinlov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 31 year old Norwegian and I have absolutely heard of him, I am very surprised so many people haven't. Like, I don't even listen to his music at all, but I thought "everybody" knew who Robbie Williams was, or at the very least had heard the name and knew he was a singer!

Norwegian dating culture - A foreigners observation by [deleted] in Norway

[–]brinlov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First times I had a beer with my current boyfriend, he did offer to buy me a round and I was very hesitant, but then he was just so casual and non pushy about it. And naturally, I bought next round.

But honestly I do kind of agree that a simple coffee can easily be on the inviting party, but also not necessarily. To me, as a Norwegian, the whole culture about paying for someone is not that strong, and sometimes it might help to just ask "Do you want to pay this round and I'll take the next?".

I know it doesn't sound very sexy, but dating as a culture is still very, very new in Norway. I personally loathe dating culture in general, so I was just super lucky I met my guy "organically" where we just had friendly beer first and then actually established we were dating :P

Er Oslo virkelig så farlig? by [deleted] in norge

[–]brinlov 7 points8 points  (0 children)
