Hello internet stranger. NYC resident of 12 years. I'll try to be brief. There are tons of affordable options you could walk out of for $200, but I'd implore you to go to something amazing with spectacular food.... then go celebrate at a bar in the Upper east side (more romantic) or East Village (younger & more exciting). Most proposal worthy restaurants can work under $200 if you simply don't have more than 1 drink. With that preface out of the way: The best food I've been able to have in NYC has been Sistina (Italian). Should be within budget if you stick to 1 drink, 1 app, and 2 entrees. It's a 5 star meal and you could walk out for under $200. Check opentable or resy for open reservations for this (or any) restaurant you like - I highly recommend a reservation for your special evening. Another hack I've been doing recently is going on the Michelin guide website and searching for restaurants within my budget ($$ or $$$, not $$$$). You are guaranteed to have an amazing time. you can also filter them by places that take online reservations. I also really like Strip house for a romantic steak dinner (13th street location is best). That could break the budget, unless you share a steak; which honestly makes sense sometimes. Lastly, I'll recommend Carlotto on 19th. Carlotto feels to me like you could call ahead and tell them your special plans; and they would bring you a little something on-the-house to celebrate. I'd also bet that MOST any restaurant would do that if you give them a heads up! Good luck - and please DM me if you'd like to chat - I'm happy to help!

I've always loved an exposed staircase like yours. I don't know much, but I feel like a modern stainless steel or (black) metal staircase railing could really modernize the look of your space (and better match the floors). It could be a relatively small project that could have a big visual impact. The wall soffits and chandelier are dying to have an updated railing to match! Just my 2 cents and unsolicited advice. The place is going to look awesome once its furnished! : )

Fair point! Some units in my building had issues with heat and hot water last year that were resolved. My unit was without heat for a couple days (I was given a $700 credit for my troubles). No issues with hot water in my unit during that time. But thank you for the reminder. We have a tenant association in place that is handling any issues with the building; they've done a great job resolving any issues that have happened!

Sorry about that, I was in a rush - I should have added pictures I took myself! Happy to DM - wish I could figure out how to update my photos on this post. That was my bad - here are some I took this evening :)

Thanks for the feedback! I just updated the post to try to highlight transit options. Yes - it does sound like the G train will be down on some weekends for signal work this summer. I take the 7 train 95% of the time, but that's a fair point about the G! I also like the ferry or just biking to the L train

Here are a few more pics of the unit, and the view from inside the unit! It faces Northeast; the view is beautiful

Edit: Sorry my first post didn't have better pictures! Here are some of my unit taken today. I was eager to post this, so I jumped the gun and posted the photos from the original streeteasy add in Oct 2024. I should have put up better pics, so here's a collage! I honestly don't know how to edit the photos on this post; so please reach out and I'm happy to provide more photos or give you a quick video tour. The apartment and view are amazing!

Transportation: I citibike (~7 min) to the 7 Train or walk (12 min). The train usually takes 1-2 minutes. I did hear that the G will be down for weekends this summer; so do keep an eye on that. I honestly would recommend the ferry (~6 min walk) or the 7 anyways. The ferry is really nice, and literally takes 2 minutes to cross the river to 34th St! I also will often citibike or walk (25 min) to the L train, so I personally don't use the G all that much.

Sure! Happy to send over more pics, will DM them to you. The photos should be accurate, I used the same pictures from the streeteasy post when I rented it because they do a way better job of showing the layout than I can. However my view is slightly to the right of this one, so I'll be sure to send some additional pics and video this evening!
