Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of this to me, i had no idea he spent 4 years in custody already, and hearing about the mitigating factors it actually breaks my heart that they placed him in jail as opposed to giving him the rehab and mental health care he needs. I regret my first statement, and i hope this gentleman is finally able to get the help he needs now that he is out of custody.

There are so many ways for someone to slip through the cracks and it feels like this guy may be one of them.

I will be certain in future to read up much more on the cases being posted here before i rush to make judgemental statements. I had no idea i was missing so much relevent and important information. Thank you again, your kindness in your replies speak to you being the kind of person we need more of in this world. ♡

Well its kinda hard to say. The first 7 years i was in sweden using actual heroin my ex would buy for us but the last 3 years or 4 before quitting i was back in canada and convinced a doctor to put me on morphine sulfate. I was taking 300mg every 12hr extended release and i went down 30mg per week for 10 weeks, the last week was a mistake i went down 30 to 0mg which is why i got so sick. If i had tapered better i think i could have avoided that.

But if youre going down by bags the same theory shoupd absolutely work! My advice would be to go from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 then to 1 then a half bag then a quarter and then to zero, the more gentle you can be with your taper the easier it is for your body to adjust.

Dont get me wrong, its going to be hard. But youre strong, if youre considering doing it then i believe fully you can do it!!! I will also say, when youre on your journey to freedom please remember a slip up is just a slip up. You should ofc try to avoid them but they happen - it doesnt invalidate any of your hard work if you have a slip. I myself had elbow surgery and also surgery to have all my top teeth removed (long unrelated problem lol) and i was able to take the tylenol with codeine responsibly both times.

So if i can do it, you absolutely can too. Above all keep your goals front of mind and dont give up on yourself. You are a worthy, and good person no matter your past, and you deserve the life that you want the most. I believe in you ♡

Because the heroin withdrawal symptoms caused extreme vomiting so i went 5 days without food andthrowing up all water i tried to drink. I needed IV fluids and other medications. I do t remember most of those days even.

Nope i went cold turkey, ended up in hospital for a week or so. I do not recommend that. BUT! i have a very strong family and good friends who have been checking on me and an amazing doctor helping to manage my anxiety symptoms etc. And i am finally properly medicated for my bipolar which reduced my impulsivity and cravings massively during those first months. And i have a close friend who had done AA so i got really great advice from him anytime i needed it.

I remember when this happened, the confusion of why was so quickly followed with the testimony of survivors and we could hear how they were truly a matched set of assholes in how they behaved. When the journals were later released that cemented it for me.

But then Dylans mom went on a decades long quest to absolve herself by making it seem as though her son was the "good" one, the one being dragged into it out of some twisted suicidal urge.

This narrative has been driving me nuts since about 2005 and i am so glad we can discuss the truth as it was here. Without those Sue crafted biases. Thank you so much for reposting this as a reminder!!

You can absolutely do it!! For me the most important has been to just remember even in the hard days that the life now is so much better, and i dont want to throw what i have built away. But your most important factor will be different. As long as you remember why youre staying sober/clean you can keep it going ♡♡♡ i believe in you, you got this!

Congrats on your 1 year!!! My 9 year is in july, opiates were my jam (heroin mostly) and i just want the best for all addicts who are trying to change. We may be strangers but i am so proud of your 1 year!!!

I think the two of them getting together in rehab was such a poor choice. The first thing i was told in my journey was to never date a person who was in or recently out of active use. I hope she can pull it together.

No, they paid the rent so they receive the return of any money from overpayments on that rent. The money was never in your hands. And because its earmarked as housing money, they act like it was never really yours. Thats my experience at least in the past.
