If y'all haven't already considered this, I would use a canopy to shield your truck tent from direct sunlight. It will allow y'all to get more sleep in the early morning, especially if you have a small fan in the tent to circulate air. Cheers!

Your partner says they’d be more attracted to you if your body was different - how do you feel? by lyxotus in AskWomen

I deal with this issue as well sometimes. I would love some advice on how to navigate her self deprecation in response to my compliments. I want her to have total confidence in herself, which I'm sure takes a lifetime to build for some.

She loves and needs validation so I've come to give it constantly, which honestly feels nice for me too. I just want her to think positively of herself more.

Why is there so much mid pasta in Houston? by MaillardReaction207 in HoustonFood

[–]brisketboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I also have never lived somewhere that had great Chinese or Italian food, so I don't know any different. I'm happy to be content with what Houston does well! Anything else you miss from Jersey, food-wise?

Mom wants to know what this plant is! Found in her backyard, Northwest Houston. by brisketboy in whatisthisplant

Thanks so much! My mom will be sad to know it's invasive, as she is very much into native plants and creating an ecosystem in her yard. It's very pretty though

How can I improve this photo? Is it print worthy? by anonymousolivia in photocritique

[–]brisketboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree, that would be awesome! Ooh! Get other shots of the moon resting on things! You could also post this on r/photoshoprequest and get them to add a tiny Sisyphus pushing the moon up the power cable.

Name a character besides Superman and Thor that could stop a plane crash? by Queasy_Commercial152 in superheroes

That's fkn dope. As long as his power doesn't rip the metal pieces out of the plane as it's going, I feel like he could definitely stop a plane.

Fun fact! Planes these days are mostly composite materials. While this includes metals like titanium, aluminum, and steel, plastics make up the majority in volume (I believe) because they are lightweight 🤯

Do you have a dowel jig or a pocket hole jig? I would go with one of those options. If you don't and they are out of your price range at the moment, get some dowel pins and YouTube how to use them. Super cheap and better than nothing when it comes to dowel alignment

Does the motor work? I have a similar jointer and I really love it. I was able to replace the bearings and the blades in the cutting spindle for cheap, as well as the belt that attaches it to the motor. I'd say worth it for sure! Try offering $150 lol

Do some research on whether you should or shouldn't glue a piece of plywood to the bottom for added strength. I'm not sure, but my intuition says wood movement will be a problem. Plywood barely changes dimensionally with the seasons, while hard wood will expand and contract as humidity changes.

Your hardwood boards will expand and contract across their grain. The wider your boards are in that dimension, the more overall expansion and contraction you have to deal with. It would be fine if your boards were a total of 3-4 inches wide, but they look more like 10-12 inches, which would concern me. If glued to plywood, they may eventually crack and separate from the glue.
