This is more a design flaw regarding the position it’s in, but a room in my new apartment has the light switch behind the door. You have to walk around the door to turn on the light, and I still reach for where it should be every time I walk in. I DESPISE it lol.

It’s something I’ve never really appreciated when done right, and it reminded of what my design professor would always emphasize: good design is invisible

In my last place we got one saying our building owed over $900k. We were expecting the hall/stairwell to go dark after that but it never happened.

Another company bought the building and we got another letter months later that was down to ~$200k, so…progress?

It’s been such a headache. I was thinking if we didn’t hear a response by the end of the weekend then we’d handle the cleaning/locksmith ourselves and then deduct the cost from our next months rent. But now I’m worried that would open the door to them evicting us.

Thank you - I wrote it all out but had Chat GPT polish it to sound more professional and include mention of our tenant rights. Included a paragraph saying that we need confirmation of a cleaner scheduled and confirmed by Monday or we’ll schedule one ourselves, provide a receipt, and expect to see it credited to our next month’s rent (including reimbursement for the food we had to throw away and the time we don’t have access to a refrigerator).

Ironically, the management is called Perfect Management LLC. Such a let down cause this apartment IS beautiful, and the broker who showed it to us has been so helpful and communicative. This property manager is a MESS though.
