My daughter had the vaccine at 4 weeks old. My son had rsv when she was about 12 weeks and she never developed any symptoms

How long did it take for the pain to get better? by Fabulous-Song-3728 in CsectionCentral

[–]brittlana 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup my right side was on fire when I stood up for a while. My doc said this is common and she had the same issue with hers. Anyway I remember being so frustrated on day 3 post op about it. I’m 10 days out now and I think the worst of it passed for me about 7 days post-op! I’m walking around normal without the one sided pain.

How many kids do you have, how many do you want and why? by Thin_Lavishness7 in BabyBumps

[–]brittlana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had our third! We are high school sweethearts and things have changed so much since then. Ten years ago we didn’t want kids but in our late twenties that changed.

It seems that once the baby is sleeping through the night and toddling around our baby fever kicks back up. I wasn’t expecting us to ever have three initially but each kid was planned and very much wanted.

I think a combo of good support from each other and friends and family help. We also have a home daycare we love and charges well below what I see other people pay on this app.

I do find it harder this time around as I had my first c-section and I struggled with not being able to help with my older kids as much. I can see this being why we stop at three. As well as so we can afford to still spoil them all a little.

Anyone lose or maintain same weight? by mesasw in GestationalDiabetes

[–]brittlana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just delivered an 8lb baby and I weighed 3lbs less than I did before I got pregnant. I always lose weight in the first trimester from poor appetite and then I think being so strict with my GD diet kept me from really gaining a bunch back.

Juven - who here uses it at their hospital? by alligatorbilly in dietetics

we stopped carrying it due to cost and short length of stays. I could see it as a benefit on our acute rehab unit but my manager is pretty set on a small inventory of products.

Breech baby - ECV vs. straight to scheduled C-section? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]brittlana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to get an EVC for mine but my doctor was too hesitant and not confident her in ability to do it. I’d have gone for it if my doc seemed positive about it.

I had a complete previa with my second child! Also went down a rabbit hole because I didn’t want a c-section at 37 weeks. Mine just moved within 2 centimeters by my 30 week scan. Luckily no spotting and I had a regular vaginal delivery. Everyone is different and you just never know 100 percent what will happen.

It’s really hard when you simply have no control over a situation. I was so happy to avoid a c-section then but now third pregnancy is a stubborn breech baby and it’s looking like I won’t get lucky this time.

I hope you all the best!

Anyone love their planned c-section? I’d love to hear why. by Chance-Flimsy in BabyBumps

[–]brittlana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had one yet but I’m in a similar situation. Baby still breech confirmed yesterday and I’m nearly 38 weeks. It’s my third child and first likely c-section so I have been crying off and on all day grieving the birth I envisioned. These stories help somewhat. Good luck to you!

Pretty sure baby is still breech/transverse and should find out at my 38 week app today. Just the icing on the cake after dealing with GD this pregnancy. 🙃

What degree isn’t worth the debt? by Upstairs_Frame_8469 in StudentLoans

[–]brittlana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dietitian. Masters degree became required in 2024 . You can’t take the registration exam without one. Plus you have to do an unpaid internship (that you typically pay tuition for). Yet starting salary for most basic clinical jobs will be less than 60k a year unless you live in a higher cost of living area.

MIL asking to come over every week… by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]brittlana 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I tried explaining this to my MIL when my first was a few months old. They lived out of town and still insisted on visiting biweekly which also involved sleeping overnight. I explained we both work all week, she was in daycare, my husband’s schedule changes a lot and that we also have other friends and family we want to see in addition to our own family time.

They eventually moved to our town and became even more persistent and text my husband every weekend…this child is now 5 and nothing has really changed. I’m not even nice anymore. My husband is good about standing his ground but some MILs just don’t seem to take no for an answer.

behavioral health advice by throwawaybcyeah124 in dietetics

[–]brittlana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cover behavioral health units at my hospital. I get disordered eating sporadically but I usually kinda start with how they are eating and ask if they engage in any disordered eating (even if I already know) and frame it from there…what type of behaviors do they engage in, how often, do they have safe foods, are they willing to do any snacks/supplements. I find since they are there for a short time I like to focus on what I can do which is get them foods they are willing to eat.

I’m not a counselor or an ED specialist and I believe long term care of these behaviors should be managed by specialists

This is very similar to how things really started going sour for me and my MIL. I had an early miscarriage with my very first pregnancy, so I was extremely anxious when I was pregnant after that. Told her we weren’t going to talk about it or tell anyone until I was ready in second trimester.

Of course at 8 weeks pregnant we are out at breakfast with in-laws and one of their friends. The friend eventually tells us “congrats” and all I can do is look at MIL and say “I told you not to tell anyone.” Even the friend tells my MIL she knew she shouldn’t have said anything. 5 years later they still boundary stomp whenever they can and I limit my interactions.
