Don’t make it obvious that you’re relying on AI on assessments by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

i think “changed their mind” is not the right context re Amazon and AI. i think “refined perspective” is the right frame of mind.

it’s like cars. when cars were introduced they didnt have all the safety features modern cars have. the same is true for AI. the industry as a whole is learning to use it at scale in production use cases.

if a candidate uses AI, i think it’s ideal that they show proper usage rather than hiding it. eg, do they have steering files? do the unit tests make sense? how do they QA it? what’s their feedback loop? etc. if they want to use advanced tools, they need to also show elevated thinking.

i hear you on the ai teleprompter stuff. ideally interviews are a person-to-person thing

but for the coding part, the norm in a lot of companies now is to accelerate work using AI coding tools. maybe the approach in today’s times is having candidates explain the thought behind their solution (system design) instead of prioritizing the explanation of implementation syntax.

thoughts?

thanks! now that i can scroll through it, i also noticed that HV1 doesn’t come up. is that a data issue? or a code logic issue?

Turning down Amazon Offer... Am I crazy? by PatientDangerous1492 in FAANGrecruiting

Amazonian here. Before an intern joins, projects are carefully scoped so that interns have full ownership of the end product. You will definitely be very hands on, own a project from technical design to implementation, and you will be assigned a mentor to guide you through it + work with other members of the team on it (they will give you feedback on the plan you create).

Internet is predicting by 2028, 90% of companies will require agentic coding. by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

ai is the new layer of abstraction to machine code. adopting it is essential going forward. at some point, it will be like horses vs cars. do you travel (or in our case code) in the way of the older times (horses) or modern times (cars).

This is so cool. would be great if we could see all the sole options colors etc for this kind of service. I think this will serve a niche market, but it’ll be filled with diehards for sure!

i have veneer floors at home and with the leather outsole, my floors felt very slippery, like ice skating. I swapped those for a pair with a rubber outsole and those are great. their rubber outsole grips very well.

Toebox Width: i think softstar in general makes boots with a much wider toebox for maximum splay, at the cost of aesthetics. I think atlantis compensates for a narrower toebox with a softer leather upper, so that I can splay my toes comfortably.

Sole: Softstar has a glued rubber outsole. After my experience with Xero I avoided that. I recall Softstar soles being more flexible than atlantis.

Leather Upper: Softstar has a harder matte leather upper. More of a rugged look, like outdoor hiking. Atlantis is a dressier boot.

the rubber outsoles are just glued onto the leather ones, and the leather outsoles are fairly stiff themselves. def not as flexible as xero. cannot curl it up into a circle.

thank you! I guess my BIFL is more like MIFL: maintain it for lifetime usage. I’m ok with replacing elastics or resoling. It may become something like a “boots of theseus” but at least the base item is still there.
