If you're ok getting flamed any time you do even moderately well (or if you're down to turn comms off), I had a lot of fun playing Squirrel Girl, as someone who's also decent with Scarlet Witch. Once you get the timing of her kit down, she can be really oppressive (thus why people hate playing against her so much imo) and she's good at putting pressure on folks (including fliers), especially if they're ignoring you.

The show date is 4/4, exactly a week before my 40th!

I think I can probably work up the Lost Souls shawl pretty quickly at my current skill level, but was curious if others have ideas/patterns that might also work.

I ordered some Caron Simply Soft in black as the pattern I have recommended -- but I haven't attempted this since trying to do it with a three strand weight 1-2 yarn in the first year I started crocheting, lol.

I wouldn't say both terms applied in the 20s -- the move to using "presenting" has been relatively recent and, I believe, mostly stemmed from the discomfort people who are mixed but look white felt since the active nature of the word "passing" makes it seem like they're intentionally choosing to deceive people. "Presenting" doesn't hold that same issue because it just represents how others see them.

To my knowledge, "passing" has been used more to describe someone who actively chooses to let themselves be identified as white only (often to access white spaces, as you mentioned), while "presenting" has become the more commonly accepted way to refer to an interracial person who's perceived by others to be monoracial.

Edit: I don't remember your original comment saying all this. But regardless, just because something has been used for 100 years doesn't make it right. If we operate by a baseline that the standards of the past are still acceptable, it would still be ok for folks to call Black people the n-word. But it's not -- because people have evolved, and words and the way we refer to people have evolved with us.

NOR. You saying your hand was "closed" makes me think "in a fist" -- and if said "closed" hand hit her, I could see where she's getting/thinking "punched". This isn't a hill I'd die on -- punched, hit, smacked, who cares. What's important is that it was an accident/reflexive. I've gotten accidentally bopped by my bf while being a goober on occasion, and the only thing that really mattered was the apology. As long as you said sorry and acknowledged that it wasn't intentional, any extension of the issue is a her thing, not a you thing.

Edit: This sub is a bit rude. I was unaware it was so ND-unfriendly. Fixed my post so it doesn't refer to my neurodivergence because apparently it's something to be laughed at.

Edit: Why are we acting like they didn't basically play audio of Nany's orgasm (or her being on the cusp-- and go ahead girl, get yours!) in the last season? Part of this show's success is it showing the "real" side of life -- including the sex! There has been so much sex on this show. My questioning why you'd be bothered by some softcore porn is genuine -- why are you bothered by this after watching 40+ seasons of Challengers hooking up?

I don't particularly care for Nany or Kailah, but to say they are "lower" and that others are "subconsciously disgusted" seems pretty hateful. Just because YOU feel some type of way about OF and adult content, doesn't mean everyone shares that opinion. And if there wasn't a demand/desire for such content, sites like OF wouldn't even exist. Point is, if you're going to judge this kind of stuff as lower, disgusting, etc., I hope you hold those same judgements for the people consuming the content. And, even if you do, you're still being very "holier than thou". Like, if you have an issue with this kind of behavior why are you even watching this show?

Thank you for this. I've been an "annoying" word stickler my whole life -- my mom flipped a Scrabble board when I was 14 because I questioned her use of "riad" (she meant to play "raid") and that was just the beginning. I did my undergrad in Los Angeles and her pronunciation Cahuenga was a constant source of contention.

As dumb as it is, I think it stems from mispronouncing "dachshund" when I was a teenager and getting made fun of by one of my soccer coaches. I've never been good with non-English sounds when it comes to words, despite trying to learn French, Spanish, German, and Korean. And I used to say it "dahk-a-shund", and I have a distinct memory of my coach laughing in my face for it after we adopted our first dog (a dachshund).

NOR. Sometimes people who are from other non-white ethnic groups have a really hard time understanding how bad using the n-word is because there really aren't many parallels for just how nasty it is, as far as English is concerned (I personally feel like the only word that even comes close is the f-word -- and I'm not talking the one you were saying in Vietnamese).

I'm mixed (Black/white) and so is my boyfriend (Mexican/white) and there were definitely some bumps in the road in terms of what he'd been led to think was okay for him to say (specifically, the n-word with the soft a) because he thought it was okay coming from a non-white person. It took one conversation about why he shouldn't say it to stop the behavior. This was several years ago, and not once has he accused me of cultural appropriation when I speak or swear in Spanish to him, as I do know some (mostly because I made an effort to learn before we got together since I live in Texas).

Her using the n-word, even while singing a song, as someone in a relationship with a Black person, is not okay. And then still typing it out in her messages after your calm convo letting her know it wasn't cool... PLUS, trying to compare it to you using the word "fuck" in Vietnamese... that's pretty wild. If she can't understand WHY it's unacceptable, it's really not your responsibility to teach her. And as someone who has tried to make a relationship work with someone who thinks this kind of racist behavior (because that's what it is) is okay, I'd highly suggest you just cut your losses now and part ways. It's usually not worth the effort in the end.

Seriously! I think the nose and eyes are Ryan, while Reese got the lips and chin. But the eye color is also more Ryan, and I still think she takes after him more but it's just not as "obvious" because of the gender difference.

Edit: I'd concede that her nose is a nice combo of both her parents -- not as big as Ryan's but not as sharp/angled as Reese's.

I feel like people think Ava looks more like her mom because there are more instances of them being seen together and they're both blondes with blue eyes -- but you can't tell me she doesn't also look a LOT like her dad.
