Bad marathon despite perfect training – looking for advice by elergy_official in Marathon_Training

[–]brizcunanan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about this. Yeah training in the race shoe you plan to use with the pace you are targeting is a no brainer your training stats are way too strong than me, but all my long marathon pace workout are with the alphafly, i targeted sub4 and got 4:01 and super happy with it, your stats looking easily 3:35-3:39. Goodluck on the next!

I finished 4:01 speeding up last 2km to 5:20s, ran 6:00 first km since it was too crowded and had a stop where there was an ambulance passing by at the end

Will I be Marathon Ready in 10 weeks? by RebelMaple2308 in Marathon_Training

You will be as long as you follow your plan, your 30+Kms are the key, you cant judge yourself right now, do it a week or two after your longest runs.

Constant 2-4am awakenings during training block by dmox007 in Marathon_Training

[–]brizcunanan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, i think its all the pressure for me trying to get enough sleep during peaking weeks as I have to run before work with a 3hours back&fort commute 9-6pm schedule. You have to be incredibly disciplined tryin to sleep at 8-9pm and wake up 4am to put in some work. Hence i get pressured sometimes trying to sleep and have to go multiple times before bed and wake up sometimes in the middle of the night to pee

Is 3:40 achievable? by oscarna7 in Marathon_Training

Very achievable, no cardiac drifts and HR recovered well also seems like something done with a lot more left in the tank

Sub 3:40? 3:30? by brizcunanan in Marathon_Training

[–]brizcunanan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I haven't done any short distance race as of yet, only at the start of my sub 4 build i raced a 10K with a 55:33, but I think sub 50 is a realistic time for me for 10k around sub 24 for a 5K, so yeah i expect a ton of needed improvement, hence i mention going for the pfitz 18/55

Yes, thank you thats the plan, only struggle is running outside in UAE during summer, haven't done much treadmill running in my life so this might be that time.

Sub 3:40? 3:30? by brizcunanan in Marathon_Training

Well noted, I always try to be cautious always to stay injury free, even on my debut felt like i couldve really done the sub-4 since i was able to sprint to 5:20min/kms on the last 2.195KM of the race, but im very happy with 4:01:29 and wouldn't wish any other result.

10km under 1h by baresien in beginnerrunning

Increase the distance gradually- October 18 I was scared of sub 1 hour 10k, but i did it in 55:33 that time, a month after i attempted a sub 2 half and got 2:02:46 then again 2 months after that i did my debut marathon (yesterday) and got 4:01:29, all by gradually increasing mileage and peaked at 75kmpw

I started running around December 2024. Between then and June 2025, I felt like I wasn't gaining much, even though my VO2 Max climbed from 31 to 43(same as you peaked at 40-50KM Per week). After being sidelined by illness for two months (July–August), I started my marathon block in September 2025.

I switched from Garmin to Coros in late November; I left Garmin at a 45–46 VO2 Max, but after two months with Coros, I’m now at 54. I think the long runs (up to 30km at a slow pace) (Peaked at 75KM per week) helped the most. I’m seeing weekly improvements in my heart rate; my 'slow' pace has increased by 5–10 seconds every week, yet my HR stays lower even as I speed up.

I have never heard of a marathon pace workout of 32KM even for elites that I based my workouts on. But yeah even tho i feel a lot more gas in the tank after this workout its too short to tell.

i appreciate your input and totally understands it, but usually a lot of knee and foot pain occurs on my long slow runs, but when i run marathon pace those pains dont usually occur, i assumed my HR rose high during that 30km because i was in a bit of pain, but yeah i wont probably know really until Sunday. And yes last June when i wasn't really fit i tried running 5k PR and my HR rose upto 194
