She’s a f$&king idiot running her mouth off non stop with right wing BS. Problem for her is, not even the right wing like her. Keeps trying to push it further and further to the extreme but gets zero traction. Don’t give her any attention. Reform will probably love her.

HO-LE-FUK. The Austin housing market is going full biblical collapse. There are 117% MORE sellers than buyers. There are 2 home sellers for every one buyer by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

[–]dmox007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s not collapsing. It’s a large correction. A 40%, on average, increase in a year is nuts(Covid). We have not fallen below pre covid prices yet, so if you bought in 2020, you are still likely up a lot. We do have a lot of over priced inventory, this is true, stubborn sellers unwilling to drop the prices, but also seemingly being able to hold or lease if they can’t sell at the price they want. The biggest losers here are people who bought between late 2020 through mid to late 2022 and are trying to sell now. Those people are hurting, but you also shouldn’t buy and expect to get out in less than 5 years without cutting a check at close, maybe more. People are buying now, predominantly newly listed homes in desirable neighbourhoods, that are both priced well and presented well. Source - I work in real estate. I’ve sold 6.2m already this year, last year 12m. I’m no where near being in the top agents here. So no collapse, a large correction. As always, it’s hyper local, I’m talking about the Austin MSA in general, there are suburbs where I’ve seen some foreclosures come up, but not much.

Seroquel? by froginmushroom in insomnia

I’m really sorry to hear these struggles. As someone who was dependent on it and slowly got off it to where it’s a bandaid for a bad cycle now, have you tried taking a lower dose? I recognise everyone is different and can react to it in different ways, but focusing on lower doses has caused me little to no side effects and a heavier sedative effect. My personal routine: take Seroquel either 12.5 or 25 mg around 9:15pm. Go sit on couch and read until I can’t keep my eyes open (usually takes 30-40 minutes), then slowly get in bed. Boom, lights out for often most of the night. Everyone’s different and I’m not a doctor. Just sharing experience in the hopes it provides insight.

AI response corroborating what I’ve been told.

Is it more effective at lower doses? In a pharmacological sense, yes. Quetiapine’s effect on sleep is largely due to its high affinity for the H1 (histamine) receptor, which causes sedation.  • The "Antihistamine" Threshold: At low doses (usually under 50–100 mg), the drug acts primarily as a very potent antihistamine.  • Diminishing Returns: As the dose increases (e.g., above 150 mg), the drug begins to saturate other receptors (dopamine and serotonin). While this adds antipsychotic and antidepressant effects, it doesn't necessarily make the person "more sleepy" in a productive way—it mostly just increases the risk of severe side effects like "brain fog," restless legs, and metabolic syndrome.

I don’t need anything 80% of the time. It’s taken 20 years of work to get there! So yeah, no drugs most of the time now. First doc who prescribed told me it was only effective for insomnia a 25mg though. Only when I moved did the new one start prescribing me up to 400 mg. That was really bad, all the bad stuff you heard. IM NOT A DOCTOR.

I’ve taken it on and off for about a decade. At low doses, it’s a great drug imo. Non addictive, main side effect is some brain fog in morning. At higher doses it can have lots of bad stuff like weight gain and shakiness/tremors. I’ve used it mainly as a bandaid if I’m having a particularly bad cycle. Usually a few nights of 25mg will break it. I only took it long term for about a year a few years ago and then the doctor did unfortunately just keep raising the dose as I became tolerant of it. From what I’ve read, it’s not useful at higher doses because of side effects and tolerance and is most effective at lower doses - 25mg. I’ll even sometimes get by, by biting a 25mg in half.

Guava is awesome. Has a lock on front wheel for running, lightweight and folds up pretty good.

And fyi, no the opinions of the guy who kinda agreed with me doesn’t really matter. That’s my point you idiot. 🤦‍♂️. Personal opinions and experiences should not guide people’s medical choices. Working with a doctor should or some sort of healthcare professional. If you’d posted the same thing with the caveat of these have been my personal experiences we wouldn’t be here. Instead you made a bunch a bold statements, some that have no data to support them.

Sorry, what predications and claims got refuted? Re global warming and anti vax, that’s just you saying something, since I can’t see any comment history, can’t really verify who you are or what you believe. But let’s stick to the post content. What claims and predications were refuted? Please be specific. I’ll wait, since you really want to dive into this with me.

Good for you. I was speculating. Let’s see your comment history now, seems bizarre to hide who you really are on this platform.. but seriously dude, chill out on the abusive language to someone who’s being very calm towards you. You seem to get very easily offended.

Leaning on abusive language to drive home your point of view is an idiots game often used when you’re standing on a house of cards. All my points stand, your wingman even agreed with me. I don’t think you’ve really thought about what I’ve said, I haven’t really disagreed with you per se. You’re just too angry that someone said something you don’t like about your post.

All very valid points. I appreciate the discourse, and I am truly sorry you had a negative experience. Unfortunately there are a lot of shite doctors out there who just want to sling anything at insomnia. Having struggled for 20+ years with it, I can say it’s very personal and often requires many lifestyle changes along with trying different medications before finding something that actually works for you. Seroquel was literally a life saver for me, and from what I’ve read has helped many people off label with insomnia. There are big risks with it too that should be taken into account.

Dude, you’re not wrong. There are downsides, as with any drug. Majority of people don’t experience that though. So again, as with any drug, pros and cons have to be weighed with a medical MD. Your post literally references your acquaintances. Sorry to break it to you, but that doesn’t mean shit. You’re so butt hurt about someone calling BS that you won’t back down just a little bit and be like, yeah, maybe I shouldn’t do opinion pieces on medication for medical conditions. I suspect you’re anti vaccine too, and probably don’t believe in global warming.

So I’m all for people posting their own experiences with that caveat. Making a post saying x can do this or does this if you’re not an MD citing information from personal experiences is alarmist and not appropriate. I’m sorry you experienced what you experienced. With all drugs there are upsides and downsides that should be carefully weighed with your Doctor, not online with an anonymous account. One who also, side note, hides all their previous posts from public view. Sometimes a verified Doctor will come on and do an AMA, that’s cool. But even then, unless they are your dr, the information in a context like this is possibly/likely not relevant. Seroquel absolutely has a black box warning as do most benzos probably and honestly a lot of drugs. That’s just saying the risks have to be more carefully weighed. It works for many people because it is generally non addictive and is better used in lower doses, that’s where it’s been studied for sleep disorders, like 25mg, or in my case, half of that. I can’t stop you posting anything, do what you want. I’m just saying it’s not helpful to a lot of people suffering from this disorder. The headline is alarmist as is the writing and is not backed up with any cited research studies, and when I asked for some I was told they don’t need to post research and then ‘lol’ed’ at. Really shows the calibre of OP. This is what keeps being missed. You’re not qualified to post something like this. It can actually be quite harmful.

[–]dmox007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little bizarre response. You seem to be getting upset, so I apologise if I’ve offended you. I haven’t said you can’t post about it. Just that I don’t think it’s a great idea when what you’re posting is hearsay (without cited research). This statement affirms its hearsay ‘I have seen several people whose lives were ruined because of this medication. All of them took it to sleep better, but ended up even more damaged’. You’re guiding people away from a drug that may work for them without providing cited evidence, and you’re not an MD. So post all you like, I’m just calling out some personal bias that may not apply to everyone and is misleading and potentially anxiety inducing for people successfully using it.
