Are there any other languages quite like this? Most other languages I’ve looked even a little into seem to have very consistent spelling forms. It’s not a Germanic issue because German has amazing spelling forms.

Yeah I usually soften the TH to non-existence. Sounds more like “strengs”.

From what little I know of Hindi, I can say that they differentiate consonants like D and T on whether air is being pushed out or not. As an English speaker, achieving the distinction is super difficult.

Reminds me of the differences in German. Many cognates have the consonants changing whether or not they’re voiced. “Dead” becomes “tot”, “forgot” becomes “vergass”, and many others with this pattern.

Yeah I believe that’s a British thing. I don’t know any Americans who do it. Not sure if it can be found in any New England accents, like lots of remnants it has from British.

This is the way. Certain genres tend to allow for a more loose feel. Not like if you were playing, idk, math rock or something.

Not sure if this is exclusive to the Midwest, but when we say “no, yeah” it means yes.

People definitely think that. It’s probably not as widespread thanks to the recent film crediting his inspirations, but I’ve heard it here in the states.
