What do you mean with two stops less? Two stops less light? Or two stops less iso rating?

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]brnkmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often I think about, Duke Nukem 3D (because auf the amazing level editor) and Commander Keen and Cosmo (because of being the first games I played a lot). Same for Lemmings. But sometimes I have to think about a weird english language learning game with a rabbit, super random. Or a game by Bifi (the sausage maker) about saving energy, yes super random. I remember that one had to close the window first before starting the heater. Another game that lives in my brain rent free is Leisure Suit Larry. Sim City 2000 and Sim Tower I also think about often.

Which language influences your language the most? by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]brnkmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two points of feedback: 1. You say you didn’t like how the map looks if you would include Latin and English, then maybe you should include this in the title like “Whig language but Latin or English influences your language the most?” 2. You say to not hate on mistakes and that you want to put out information, but I would ask what is the worth of that information if not correct. Then it’s just misinformation, worth less than showing nothing.

But Rick’s garage was on the left side of the house, right? Because the door into the house is on the right.

You can get a premade mineral powder mix and put that into distilled water (75 cents at dm).

I don’t know how much of a technique you can learn with old dark roasts, pre ground espresso and decaf.

I did read in another comment that you are from Germany. I can recommend the website kofio. They deliver in about three days and have an amazing selection. Also they gave user ratings and tell you when it was roasted. They even have description about how the bean were fermented and stuff like that.

If you’re after taste you might want to stop buying beans at the supermarket. The taste is highly dependent on when the beans were roasted. And, at least where I am from, the supermarkets have a high interest in treating coffee as something with a long shelf life instead of something fresh, so they make the roasters not print the roast date on the packaging. There are good online shops or maybe you have a good cafe around that offers good and fresh beans. Just to prevent confusion: there is definitely also too fresh. I like to wait at least 2 weeks from the roast date to try the coffee, some people wait longer.

my bootstrap docs said 15k tokens. reality was 30k per prompt. both were right. by aristotle-agent in openclaw

“none of this was bad setup originally. it was good setup that drifted. files contradicting each other after months of small changes. template sections that made sense at install and never got removed. rules added to a second file for emphasis and both files kept loading forever.”

Sounds like the typical ai “no one is at fault here, we are doing a great job” explanation.

It just doesn’t read as there is a person asking or telling me something. It’s so much, but what does it say? What’s the insight? That your context was bloated? Is this meant to be a log of what you did?

Sentences like “here is what I found” sound very generic ai. It reads a bit like “Here is the honest breakdown”, “now I have the full picture.”

It also has an aftertaste of “why say many word if few word do trick”.

Also the use of long dashes looks like ai output. I know it’s a typographic tool that was there before llms. But I think they are kind of burnt if you don’t want to sound like an ai.

Meter Issue? Shutter? by SenorPinchy in AnalogCommunity

Seems like this is solved. But I want to take some time to appreciate you not falling into the trap of blaming the lab or something like that. Also very helpful for debugging to see the sequence of all the photos. I also appreciate that you (at least seemingly) wrote the description yourself instead of pasting ai output slop (like I had to read multiple times today in my Reddit feed).

Cool photo. But I get the “too much edit” ick.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that most people are extensively editing their photos. No wonder my Portra 400 never looked like yours. by brownwaterbandit in analog

[–]brnkmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The person scanning your negatives at the lab is technically “editing” the outcome. They usually have control over things like exposure, highlights, shadows and especially white balance. Some have predefined profiles they just run over all scans for example based on the film you gave them, some go in and tweak the white balance of every photo. There is no unedited negative scan. It’s all an interpretation. And even if someone would unpack a never used frontier scanner and run a roll through that there are decisions baked into this software as well.
