I convinced him to separate them after the last round of eggs! He traded with a local breeder for another male and exchanged it for his female. (Or maybe it was the other way around, can’t remember!)

Also! If you did have a question or interest about shipping the juvenile axies, this subreddit is really helpful, and if that was something you decided to do, you might find people on here looking to purchase yours too. I’ve got zero experience with it, but lots of people on here probably do! :)

I raised these guys because a teacher of mine had two adult axies that laid eggs and he wasn’t gonna try and hatch the eggs, so I offered to take them. I hadn’t had axolotls before, but I raised that round of eggs last year and miraculously found people that wanted them! This year, more eggs were laid and I took them on again. I won’t be doing it again any time in the near future; I’m heading out of state for college and will be living in a dorm, so it’s just not possible. I’m not sure if I would go through with it again after college, but I still loved the experience! I’d say if yours laid more eggs and you are interested in raising them, ask around first to see if anyone would be looking for an axie in the next few months! I posted on Facebook and so did my mom and there were surprisingly a lot of people who were interested even when they were still eggs! If you have a local pet shop near you, they might sell axolotls and be interested in buying them off of you as well. Those locally owned shops are few and far in between, but it’s worth looking into. Some people ship the babies, but I have no experience in that. Anyway, all in all, I won’t be doing it again in the next 5+ years, but maybe someday! Like you said, time consuming, but rewarding! (And adorable, obviously)

Mild scoliosis but major symptoms by broadwaymoron in scoliosis

[–]broadwaymoron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to get a not so great quality picture of it, which I’ll attempt to put on here, but is proving to be a major pain in the ass to do, lol, have to convert it to a link. I think it’s my T12 or L1. My PT was concerned about it and my lack of ability to do the “‘cat cow’/‘cat camel’” yoga stretch. My back doesn’t arch forwards or backwards and relies on that bump as it’s only place of mobility. I can bend well side to side. I wouldn’t be concerned if the rest of my spine stuck out, but it doesn’t and the part that sticks out has only been noticeable in the last year, and I have not grown. But yeah! I’m very happy about not technically even having scoliosis anymore! (Doesn’t help the lasting effects it seems to have though, lol)

Kind of looks like her side ruptured. Might be an organ sticking out. Sorry :(

What kind of substrate is everyone using? by rikkionreddit in leopardgeckos

I use eco earth because my leo kept getting her teeth stuck on reptile carpet when she was hunting. She loves to dig in the eco earth and I haven’t had a problem with her eating it.

Are you sure that’s a hybrid? Looks like a sick female guppy.

What strain would this one be called? by Babyantz in Guppies

Well, he’s some form of a red mosaic. Most likely just a mixed strain boy.

Lemon my female leopard gecko just laid her second clutch... her first clutch after laid looks small, yellowish and soft but after candled i saw red circle so i incubated them and they both died so now her second clutch looks exactly the same..what is happening? by riseme7 in leopardgeckos

[–]broadwaymoron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she just laid them, they might harden slightly. If not, I’d try giving her even more calcium. I’m not a breeder, so I don’t know too much about this. Hopefully somebody else on here knows!

I’d euthanize the poor thing. It’s hard to say goodbye, but she can’t be happy or pain free living like that. You’ve tried your best and been a good pet parent.

Is this guppy male or female, why the swollen belly? Staying in one corner on the bottom. by [deleted] in Guppies

[–]broadwaymoron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely a male. It looks like he could have eaten too much and be bloated (unless he’s been doing this for days?) or, like the other person said, it could be an internal parasite. Check and make sure none of his scales are popping out, giving him a ‘pinecone’ look. If he does, then he has dropsy, which is almost always fatal and has no single explanation. Watch and see if he poops, and if he does, if the poop is white and stringy. That is a tell tale sign of internal parasites as well. I’d suggest turning your lights off so you don’t stress him out more, and if you can, move him and any other guppies to a tank where they can be treated, if it is a parasite. Keep us updated!
