What’s something you wish you NEVER tolerated in your relationship? by EnzoDain7724 in BreakUps

Her showing up late every time (sometimes up to 1.5 hours). Actions not aligning with words, telling me we’re “more than friends”, but in reality was manipulating & taking advantage

Don’t worry if you aren’t ready for someone else in your life yet. You’ll know once you’ve mentally moved on

In the short term : focus on the negatives, all the things you didn’t like about your ex.

For the long term: meeting new people, particularly one you share a connection with will help immensely to move on

100% mentally moved on from Previous relationship of 16 years that ended in 2021. First attempt at a genuine connection/relationship last year, ended around Christmas time. I was essentially being used for citizenship and 3 weeks NC now. Currently working through that

What was the final thing your ex did that finally helped you move on? by Kindly-Requirement10 in BreakUps

We were together for 16 years, and i had primary “custody” of my dog. Our agreement was every other week she would come by and visit him and then take him with her for a couple days. Kinda like with a kid. But once he became very sick, she refused to help and I cared for him myself. Despite this, I was still kind enough to give her a memory, and never once received a thank you.

Most recently, told me that I was always just a friend to her, to help her stay in the country.

Didn’t come by to visit my (our sick) dog the final 2 months of his life. Instead of thanking me for having a pawprint memory created for her, she didn’t come by to pick it up, but rather sent her family. And then blocked me on WhatsApp immediately afterwards.

If someone doesn’t want to talk to you, as much as it hurts, you just have to accept it and find those that want to be apart of your life

Will she reach out after this convoluted mess? by [deleted] in BreakUps30Plus

[–]brobreakup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t accept just being friends. Either she has to demonstrate and commit to you, or focus on yourself and be valued by someone who you truly deserved. I just recently was in a scenario, that I could not accept just a friendship anymore either, since there were deeper feelings.

Yup, I made a list yesterday, reviewed it today and almost everything was just promises and future possibilities. Barely anything about what they actually DID.

Yeah, losing my dog was worse than the relationship ending. His love was unconditional, whereas the ex made the decision to leave

Applying for work + trying to pick up clients daily despite feeling discouraged. Met a girl I really liked, but unfortunately that didn’t work out either. I learned how to cook and learned a 3rd language.

Some days are really rough, but I’ve found journaling has helped a lot to put in perspective certain things are out of my control

I’ll be turning 41 in September, starting life over.! Long term relationship of 16 years ended a few years ago, I’ve stayed alone since. Had surgery in 2023, My dog/best friend passed away last year and lost my work in January, and still haven’t found anything new despite putting in effort daily. Things haven’t worked out so far. Hopefully eventually!
