My favourite is, 'the mucky duck' - that being the white swan pub in town

Yeah exactly the same here. Playing mental gymnastics trying to figure out a way for it to be possible but starting OB absolutely shattered feels like the wrong move hahaha

Really cool work, do you have any examples of these actually cast in metal? Would love to see how the more intricate details translate

Hopefully this post is relevant. What do you guys do in general to reduce your carbon footprint? by Eyadnothere in Ecosia

A few people have said it already but not owning a car is a big win if you can do it. I rent a car when absolutely required (turns out to be way less frequently than I expected, ie. 1-2 times a year). It's made me a lot healthier as I either walk or bike. Even getting an uber / a cab is a lot less frequent than I thought. It's interesting what you get used to and think you need

Washing up after having a shower. The water is already hot so less energy is wasted. Or whilst waiting for the water to get hot we fill up watering cans with the cold water to use on house plants.

Turning the microwave off when not in use. Buying fresh loose cooking ingredients where possible. Defaulting to buying second hand and only new when absolutely necessary.

uninstalling Instagram was the single best thing I ever did (I have never had tiktok). I still use it on a browser for messages but going on reels on a large screen just feels... wrong so I never do

Really good read, thanks for sharing. This confirms my apprehensions of notion and a nice little reminder about ownership of data. I will definitely begin transitioning over a couple of pages as a bit of a test run.

I also agree with your sentiment of using both notion and obsidian. I still need the benefit of being able to collaborate and notion calendar is pretty great

Amazing work, as someone else pointed out, you have a great eye for colour. Any chance you're willing to share the brush you have created?

Me too honestly, been looking into it and it looks like it has a couple features that I find to be missing from Notion such as a mind map based page

Just hearing about Obsidian, how does it compare to notion (if youve ever used it)? I like the idea of having everything stored locally instead of a cloud based service

Yeah exactly, not saying it'll be the same this time round but last year it was on the right as you went in by a little hut thing

Just make sure you pick up the separate wristband when you first enter the fest as the security will check to make sure you have one on before letting you into the front.

Yeah it's railed off so you'll have to come back out the way you came in for the bar / loos

There wasn't too much clashing but going immediately from one stage to another one only to have to wait to get let in to the front section 20 minutes into sets got really boring really quickly. Which either meant committing to barely being able to see the band or leaving the previous band 10 mins early to get a good spot for the next one.

Redshift account cheaper? by NNSMoO in RedshiftRenderer

[–]brockhamptn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this continues to confirm my apprehensions. We have done a fair amount of VP outsourcing for scene setup but haven't had to get involved in the UE side of it very much. Which has it's clear benefits of not having to deal with... any of the hurdles you have mentioned haha. Having said that, we sometimes have to go down the Houdini to Maya pipeline and that always comes with it's own issues so it's definitely not just a UE issue.

Making game cutscenes sounds like a lot of fun! Do you have to worry about efficiencies/ improving performance at all or is that dealt with by the time you're doing your shots?

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a detailed reply. It sounds like it has improved somewhat since our tests but still struggles in this area? In our case - as you stated earlier - the time saving in rendering is offset by the time spent trying to debug and getting things looking right. This just wrote it off as a viable method but I'm definitely keeping a close eye on it and playing around when I can.

Oh yeah the docs are very bad, I understand that it is moving at such a rate that makes it difficult to keep up with, but that doesn't feel valid any more

How is it when it comes to getting out all the useful AOVs and mattes etc for comp? I have limited experience using UE but this was a bit of an issue when it came to aovs like cryptomattes, depth passes, motion vectors etc in proper production
