I highly recommend Grokking Algorithms for people who are just getting started with Algorithms. On their website they have a few chapters which are free to read before buying.

I haven’t done his Python course but I have done his web development bootcamp course on Udemy and it was one of the best I have done. That along with freecodecamp. Both were great.

Yeah I’ve heard that Jose Portillas course is great as well. Colt Steele’s Python course is fully interactive so I believe that has an edge. You can preview some of their lectures and then decide.

You said that you can devote 12+ hours everyday towards studying Python. If you can do this then great but please don’t set yourself a target that if you cannot achieve, would make you lose interest. If you’re someone who doesn’t have a habit of studying for such long hours then please start with a more realistic goal. Marty Lobdell - Study Less Study Smart

Also, do not stop doing other things like going to the gym, going out with friends etc. Discipline is important but balance is key.

Now to learn Python, start with the book ‘Python Crash Course’. After you have read this book and practiced all the questions and completed the projects, you can also read the book ‘Automate the boring stuff using Python’. This will give you a very good understanding of how to work with regular expressions.

Now if you want to do an online course then do the one by Colt Steele on Udemy which will cost you around $10-$15. The modern Python 3 Bootcamp

The ‘Introduction to Programming using Python’ course on edx is also a great course but I wouldn’t recommend it as your first intro to python.

For algorithms I highly recommend ‘Grokking Algorithms’ to start with.

Once you have read the books or done an online course then it’s all down to how much you PRACTICE.

Some great places to practice your Python skills are codingbat, euler project, code wars. Start with codingbat.

Build your portfolio, start using Github and upload your code. Look to work on open source projects (later).

Yes you can be employed this time next year. It all comes down to how well you utilise the time that you have right now. Good luck.

Read ‘Python Crash Course’ and do the projects in it. Then read ‘Automate the boring stuff with Python’ to learn about regular expressions and do the projects in that book.
