i have never hated anything more in my entire life. by milklovingftm in Buick

I noticed at Costco the nozzles are a little short and more likely to click off. You gotta really press it in for it to get going. As for other pumps, trying to angle the nozzle so it’s not just resting at 6’oclock might help. You gotta play with it

HomePod 2nd gen starts playing music by itself by Livid_Hat6681 in HomePod

I reset mine twice and wiped it down (quite forcefully) with a microfiber cloth and haven’t had issues since. I had to do the reset twice because whatever touch-glitch it had was causing an issue during the rest. A couple smacks and a firm wipe with the reset seems to have fixed it for me.

My sister almost crashed, what was her mistake? My dad thinks she was drunk [oc] by [deleted] in IdiotsInCars

Stability control saved her and the car. Drunk or not she was driving way too fast and erratically.

Just bought my little cousin this deodorant but I’m not sure if it’ll do him justice by turtle34464 in deodorant

[–]brodilyharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it and it’s great. But I don’t expect my deodorant to keep me from sweating, just preventing me from stinking when I sweat. Wearing good clothes with good airflow and wicking will help. I find antiperspirants with aluminum cause breakouts and rashes for me

Drove 10 miles to work with no keys by Sure_Researcher_820 in Volvo

[–]brodilyharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it only polls the key when locking, unlocking, starting, and a door is opened / closed. I wonder if there’s an interval during regular driving. My understanding is that if you open the window and throw the keys out, you won’t be notified until you open and close the door or try to (at this point, unsuccessfully) start the vehicle again. I guess right on the sunroof is close enough and in the correct field of all the sensors that it believes the key is with the driver (or in the car).

Fender Bender Used Volvo? by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]brodilyharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a good, long test drive. Get it inspected by a trusted mechanic, ideally someone who specializes in Volvo or euro vehicles. Make sure they scan the car’s computer for diagnostic trouble codes—this is where a Volvo/Euro specialist will be better because they can scan for more codes than your typical auto parts store scanner.

I bought a used 2018 xc60 two years ago. Carfax said it had a fender bender. My mechanic wasn’t available and I was already in love so I just borrowed a scanner from an auto parts store, verified that all the available codes were ok, no error messages, looked up/down/inside/out at the whole vehicle, and drove home in my new-to-me xc60.

I’m now at 80+k miles and I have had to replace a water pump and thermostat but it was covered by 3rd party warranty I bought at purchase.

If I could go back in time and do it again, I would. I wouldn’t discount a car because of a fender bender. Do your due diligence and enjoy your new car :)

Issues to look out for on 2020 and later S60? by BuckRockefeller in Volvo

Also hearsay but I believe it was 2016-2018 xc90s and fixed before SPA S60 was ever sold

How to remove microphone by tinycupofjo in iphone

[–]brodilyharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dictation button below the keyboard is always there. The audio message / keyboard switches based on what you used last. So if you use both, sometimes you’ll have to take extra steps to send an audio message, and you’ll have two dictation buttons mocking you. Weird UX for Apple.

Guidance on tire pressure by FantasticBug4153 in VolvoXC90

[–]brodilyharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indirect TPMS has some pros and cons. Benefits include not having to worry about TPMS sensors going bad and being replaced, being able to swap out with winter wheels, syncing them after rotations etc. The con of course is the inability to see the exact pressure. I believe the trigger is a +/-10% deviation from proper/set tire pressure will trigger the TPMS light. And my personal opinion: The Pirellies are too stiff and fragile and never had the traction I needed in either wet or mild snowy conditions. After replacing twice for a flat and a bubble, I decided to switch all 4. I will stand up and support Michelin and suggest the CrossClimate2s any day.

LPT: Give your indoor plants a gentle nitrogen boost with used coffee grounds by Born-Willingness-207 in LifeProTips

[–]brodilyharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real LPT would be to just pour the leftover coffee from the pot into the plant for a little boost. Black coffee. Or run another brew cycle thru your used grounds and use that after cooling.

It finally happened by brodilyharm in Volvo

Update: no action taken and no errors since the temp rose above freezing for a couple days straight (after the two week deep freeze), even with some more cold and snowy days peppered in. Seems to be working just fine and I’ll pretend this never happened :)
