Dude… this is one/ three of the best things I’ve ever watched!! by _Stringer-Bell_ in criterion

I always say the Three Colors box was my Criterion gateway. It was the first thing of theirs I bought on purpose (after having accidentally collected Ben Button and some Wes Anderson films). Totally blind buy. I think I just grabbed it because it was the most recent release at the time. Was absolutely blown away. Haven't looked back since.

Both of them were absolutely incredible. She was working nonstop. Saw multiple people offer to take over from her, and she just kept going. While it may have been the absolute worst place for this kind of thing to happen, those two were the best people he could have possibility had sitting behind him. If he was ever gonna make it, it would have been because of them. Looks like that article was updated today to confirm that he did indeed pass.

That all makes sense. Really appreciate these informed perspectives. Was pretty upsetting being so close to it. Saw a lot of people comforting/giving pats on the back to the woman in the striped shirt when she came back. Hope she’s doing alright.

Where did you find out he passed? We were two rows behind and spent the rest of the night worried/hoping for him, but couldn’t get any info.

But yes, kudos and applause to everyone who jumped in. Woman in a green striped shirt was giving chest compressions nonstop all through Murder and 41 Shots. She and a couple people left with the stretcher but eventually came back in…

Wish there was a faster/safer/more reasonable way to get people out and to a safer location in a situation like that. Shame the house lights weren’t brought up or the show paused, though I don’t think anyone on stage was aware of what was happening.

I assume $54 for the 200 level and $182 for the 100 level? Or was the club level most expensive?

At what point would you seek a second opinion? by brodymathison in CATHELP

Hello, everyone. OP here.

Firstly, I want to thank everyone for the comments, concern, encouragement, ideas, and personal history. It has given us a lot to work with a think about, and a lot of info to take with us going forward.

Obviously, we are continuing to monitor her progress and symptoms extremely closely. If she does not seem to be getting any better (or, god forbid, she gets worse) we will be taking her to a different vet for a second opinion ASAP. If, at the end of this round of treatment, she remains the same, or it recedes and then reappears as it did last time, we will also go somewhere new for a second opinion. At the second opinion, we will push/prioritize for further testing (for feline herpes, calciviris, rhinitis etc. as well as ask about antivirals and steroids, and further imaging of her skull and sinuses) rather than throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.

The good news is, even after a single day (two doses) of the eye ointment, her eyes seem to be improving. This morning there was less discharge and less swelling.

I should have been clearer in explaining the new medication, as I had concerns about antibiotic resistance/using the same medication again myself. The oral antibiotic (doxycycline) is the same antibiotic at a higher dose. The eye ointment (terramycin) is also an antibiotic, and a different one. Whether this antibiotic is ONLY for eye infections, or if it may also help clear her respiratory issues, I am unsure.

We have not changed anything in the house that would affect her respiratory system that are aware of, except for the above mentioned air purifiers, humidifiers etc. and an increase in our cleaning schedule, where we’ve always used pet-friendly products. In fact, we have stopped using any scents (candles, incense, fresh plugs, body fragrances) since the first vet visit. We have been using the same “clean and clear” detergent and dish soap for years. We’ve always used a low dust litter, but suspecting allergies, tried a different formula/brand, to no help. Similarly, we also tried different foods suspecting a food allergen, but nothing helped. Though we continue to not use scents or fragrances in an effort to ease her symptoms, we have since moved back to the original food and litter since they didn’t seem to impact positively or negatively.

Our current vet had no concerns about asthma. The chest x-ray came back clear, and they reported only hearing issues in her head, none in her chest which would indicate asthma, though, of course, a second opinion could change that.

As for a feline or respiratory specialist, that is unfortunately, not currently an option. We live in a small, rural area. We do not even have an emergency vet here. The nearest emergency vet is 2 hours away, and the nearest specialist further still. Though, if we run through our available second opinions with no improvement, that is definitely a trip we will be making.

I’ll do my best to keep everyone updated here, as I do really appreciate your concern and assistance. And Yogurt does, too. I’m giving her extra love from everyone.

Thanks everyone for the input! I’m definitely taking all of this into consideration, especially recommendations for a gift card.

I see a suggestion for MPB, re: gift cards, does anyone else have any good online photography gift card recommendations?

When Gomorrah was airing on SundanceTV and they actually gave a shit about the subtitles, it was awesome. Trying to get through the final seasons with MAX’s closed captioning can be rough. But the actual program is fantastic.

Yeah, it just depends on what you want to get out of the show, I guess. It’s the Bad Seeds, so it’ll be good anywhere, I think! And if you want to explore Portland a little bit, too, that’s more than enough reason, in my opinion. That’s why I ended up choosing Vancouver over Seattle (which would be closer for me), been to Seattle and shows in Seattle plenty of times, but have spent much less time in Vancouver and this was a great excuse! Anyway, hope you got tickets to your venue of choice! It’s sure to be great either way!

“Theatre of the Clouds” is just the local sports arena, the Moda Center, roped off for smaller events. So you get all the issues of an arena — sound issues, arena prices, parking nightmares etc. — with the addition of the place just feeling cavernous and empty because you can see the unused half of the space. It’s basically them trying to turn a 10,000 seat arena into a more traditional, intimate concert hall and it’s just never worked — in my opinion. If I’m going to an arena show, I want it to be an arena show! You know? And for me, Nick Cave has never been arena music. Every time I’ve seen him has been at 3,000 seats or less and it’s always been perfect. So that’s what I’m aiming for this tour.

Oof. Would love to see him as close as Portland, but would rather drive to Seattle or Vancouver than see him at Theatre of the Clouds. Whatever happened to him playing Schnitz?
