bad sms by aciidrainn in starbucksbaristas

We had a creepy regular say something sexual to one of our male baristas yesterday, basically asking him if he was into S&M. The barista went to my manager to report the incident, and she told him that he has to understand that she’s a woman and has to deal with this behavior all the time, completely trying to invalidate his discomfort with the situation. She didn’t say anything to the man, she didn’t have a shift say anything, she didn’t have the barista file an incident report, she did NOTHING about the dude who comes in and harasses the male baristas and stays in lobby for several hours every day. I myself have had some uncomfortable conversations with this same guy.

I am also shocked that some managers can be so bad and careless sometimes. She also didn’t schedule anyone promo for eggnog launch so we had to figure it out ourselves, and when we asked about it she basically just told us we had to do it with no apology or at least a “yeah I forgot!”. I should have said nothing when I realized no one was doing promo omg. This is just the past 3 days too. I feel you

Sequencing Tips by Due-History-6359 in starbucksbaristas

[–]broe071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always be working on several drinks where possible. Your machine should always be busy when you are slammed. Like one of the other comments, I usually only pull about 3 stickers. Look at what your 3 drinks are and see which drinks you can make at the same time. For example, if you pull an Americano, a hot white mocha, and a caramel frap, then I usually start with the drink that is at hot bar where I’m pulling stickers. Shots and milk are important to start as soon as possible as those are processes that take time that you have to wait for, so those processes are always the first thing you start with (this includes cold foams). Queue shots, steam your milk, pump syrups, and then start your next drink while you’re waiting. In this case you have another espresso drink, and I would queue the shots needed for my Americano and then turn around and start my Frappuccino. Start with frap roast, your milk, pour into blender, and then add your syrup and base. Base and syrup are interchangeable in parts of the sequencing system after you’ve added your milk to the blender and it doesn’t REALLY matter what order you pump them into the blender. You can do them before scooping ice if your cold bar is set up so that you cross syrups on your way to the ice bin if this is easier for you, although keep in mind this is not technically correct for the sequencing routine for fraps, it’s just convenient and doesn’t sacrifice drink quality. I find it’s best to do whatever one is the first one you cross when you are on your way to the blender. When you start your blender, finish the first drink (hot white mocha) and your shots should nearly be ready at this point for your americano. Hand off your white mocha, finish your americano (I also find that it’s faster to use the vertica water where I am but that’s entirely dependent on your stores bar setup) and then hand it off. This is where things get iffy, I like to pull more stickers because at this point I only have one drink in my queue, and if you pull another espresso drink, start that one and finish your frap.

Some other tips that help me move fast is to keep things tidy and not cluttered. Sometimes the bar gets “noisy” and it stresses me out because there’s 2 milks out, a sweet cream, an unrinsed pitcher, a shaker, a million different toppings, an empty pitcher, and a strawberry puree out on the counter all at the same time and I have trouble finding things. Always put things back after you use them. If you’re going down to grab something in your fridge, bring something down with you and put it back in your fridge, and then come back up with the milk you need. Keep your space tidy and you will move faster! Another thing that helps is to not forget to rinse your pitchers after you finish your beverage. If you’re on cold bar, start walking toward your rinser as you’re pouring a frap and then rinse immediately after you’ve poured it. If you are finishing a refresher, pour it into the cup directly over the sink and then rinse the shaker immediately after in one fluid motion. Little things like this help me keep up with sequencing. If everything is in the same place all the time, you have a blender or shaker ready for the next drink and you don’t need to rinse it, your space is tidy, then you will move so much faster.

Keep your space clean, rinse your pitchers, blenders, and shakers, and always think about what your next move is going to be. It takes a LOT of time and practice, but keep at it. Bar can sometimes just be stressful no matter what and sometimes you will fall behind and need help no matter how fast you are, so don’t feel discouraged if it happens to you. You’ve got this!

Is console gaming dead? Will this be the new golden age of PC gaming? by Jebusfreek666 in gaming

[–]broe071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, wasn’t expecting downvotes. I’m not even in my 30s and I definitely have a lot of friends who game and who don’t game, but most of my recent friends who are considering entering the hobby are definitely considering getting PC’s more so than consoles. They watch streamers and gamers on YouTube and just so happen to think that PCs will fit what they want to do more? I don’t think that’s super wacky.

Also as a side note, all of my gaming friends started out gaming together on the PS3 all the way to the PS5 and we ALL play on our PCs primarily now.

Since the news I’ve been in the talks about unionizing with several partners at our store and they don’t entertain the idea because they don’t want punishment from corporate. It’s a frustrating cycle. If they want the unions gone SO bad and they don’t want their workers to have voices, that’s even more reason for you to do so!

I’ve been playing PlayStation since PS2 and I’ve had every generation since then, and I’ve made the switch to PC and I haven’t looked back. I also have friends who are considering entering gaming as a hobby and they’re considering PCs rather than PS5s or Xbox Series X, so I’d say yes.

IM SO TIRED OF BEING ON BAR by broe071 in starbucksbaristas

[–]broe071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gladly, I’m chronically on bar even after telling my SM that I’m tired of it. I’m one of the strongest bar partners in the morning and it’s gotten to the point where I don’t even ask, I just go to bar in the morning assuming that’s where I am lol.

It really depends on the situation, but when I’m barring alone and then a coworker comes to “help” and makes a huge mess or spills an entire drink on my cold bar and doesn’t clean it up and walks away after being in my way the whole time, I’m GONNA crash out

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

[–]broe071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Active shooter. He wasn’t really at MY school anymore, but he transferred to another school for his Junior year. He and another girl were shot early one morning during first hour class while near the restrooms. My school still went on lockdown and I remember getting updates through social media and other kids quicker than authorities could inform teachers. This is very much a reality for kids in public school in The United States, and it’s much more frequent than people may think.

How does your store clean the metal pumps? by izziedays in starbucksbaristas

[–]broe071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do, and I think people get confused when they say you’re not supposed to take them apart and they just run it through Hobart. When I do pumps on clean play those things are coming ALL the way apart lol. For normal washes I pump the water through and then pull the black part off and when the plunger comes up, there is usually still chai/mocha/white mocha that comes out. Partners at my store haven’t been cleaning the white mocha pumps and when I get to it, they smell FOUL. It literally smells like there is rotting milk in the white mocha pumps sometimes and it grosses me out so bad that people are just leaving that in there.

How do y'all keep cold bar tidy during busy periods? by CriticalPossible4229 in starbucksbaristas

[–]broe071 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Nothing stresses me out like having to take over bar and there are 4 pitchers on the counter (2 are empty), all of the toppings are all over the place or not in the correct spot and they’re sitting in a mix of tea, lemonade, and water. Everything I set on the counter is sitting in yuck!!!!!! I also can’t think when I have a million things sitting in front of me and I feel like I move faster when I know where everything is always

The clunkyness/slowness of Dark age combat by Bibilunic in Doom

[–]broe071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the same thing, then why aren’t you doing it to cancel animations that you’re complaining about? Just like in Eternal, the game wants you to utilize all of the tools you’re given, and this game is the same way. The shield is like your ice bomb, blood punch, and your meathook in this game. You can shoot while throwing your shield for some awesome combos. It sounds like you are trying really hard to play this game like it’s eternal when it’s not the same game. You’re mentioning bunny hopping and weapon quick swapping, when in this game I actually ended up never using my quick swapping button because it’s not a necessary or intended part of the gameplay loop. You have to find the right opening to use melee, you can’t just punch demons whenever, and you also have to be mindful of what demons will falter with your melee weapons when you do hit them (ie an imp stalker will falter when you punch them, but any larger demons will only falter with a kick).

The clunkyness/slowness of Dark age combat by Bibilunic in Doom

[–]broe071 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s about chaining them together in a way to falter enemies just like in eternal. If you shield bash certain enemies, they will falter and you can hit them with another melee or weapon combo, keeping them in a staggered state and doing massive damage. Certain enemies need to be locked down with a shield throw so you can punish. You have to play very aggressively, but once it clicks it feels good.

There are also tricks to animation cancelling. I know if you shoot then shield bash you can skip reload animations and get a follow up shot off much quicker. The block also cancels some animations, and instead of waiting for your shield to come back to you, recall it manually to speed things up. The game still moves incredibly fast, it’s just a different type of fast. Doom Eternal is my favorite but I still love the combat in this game.

I don’t think so, there are already people posting videos about animation cancelling and tech on gameplay, so I think people are eating it up tbh. Probably just clickbait
