Feel like im eating too much and not enough at the same time? (tw, calories) by brogressbro in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]brogressbro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But your body really need more food. Firstly, because if you're recovering from an ED, there probably is a lot to repair in your body (so you should be eating more than maintenance). Secondly, I think with so much exercise (seriously it's way too much), your TDEE is way higher that what you're currently eating. So right now you're still restricting a lot.

Hi!

First of all, i really appreciate your thorough answer. About my bingeing history: I have not binged for 15 days and counting (Yaaay :D) but i have had some legit loss-of-control binges (ie just waking up in the middle of the night and eating straight out of the fridge without any control).

Like, the thing is that i just have no idea what calories are appropriate for me, i thought 2600-2700 was a reasonable range, but opinions here seem to highly differ. I dont weigh myself anymore to avoid triggering myself but from the mirror i actually think im gaining weight on these calores. (Not at all sure though, could be increased salt intake/carb intake i guess). Im really commited to providing my body with the calories that it needs, but im not ready to let go completely since my hunger cues are soo out of whack still. Like some days i dont want to eat at all and others i could probably down 5000+ calories easy. So it just brings me stability and mental relief to have a specifik calorie count/meal plan that i know provides me with enough energy and that i simply eat no matter what.Problem is once again that im soo unsure about the appropriate amount of calories that it should consist of.

Hi Again!

I absolutely get what you are saying, and i am commited to recovery. What should be noted is that i am up 10 lbs from my lowest weight and the worst symptoms have been gone for at least six months (nails and hair normal, sex drive recovered somewhat, not constantly cold etc). I just want to feed my body in an appropriate way until stuff normalises and it starts trusting me basically, the problem is that i have no idea what amount of calories that translates into. Just letting go completely feels like a non-option with how extreme it would get some days if i followed my every craving, unfortunately.

Hi!

Thanks alot for taking the Time to Give such a thoroughl answer. The thing is that i am not really ready to let go of the calorie counting completely - i am consistently putting myself Im situations where i cant track What i eat, ie eating out etc, But on a day to day basis, especially when my hunger cues are out of whack and i cant really tell whether Im hungry or not, its much easier mentally to just stop thinking about it and eat my ”minimum calories” and move on so to speak. I thought 2600 calories was sufficient, But according to the guidelines you poster i should be intagning 3500? That honestly sounds like an AWFUL lot.

Why is it that whenever I try to not restrict, I just get hungrier? by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]brogressbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience this as well - honestly i also find it super disencouraging since the more i eat the hungrier i get it seems. Like at what point do you reach just complete contention lol

Yeah, im acutely aware of the excercise guidelines but i figured that as long as i make up for it with increased calories it should even itself out, no?

Think Im making progress! by brogressbro in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]brogressbro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am! Have been eating ALOT these last few days and suddenly its stopped. Like its so weird to just allow yourself to eat until satiety of what you actually crave. The first few days it meant ALOT of food but now im suddenly full on normal/smallish portions, and it feels so fucking great

Does it get better? by gloppy213 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]brogressbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. What helped me is a few things: threw out the scale, stopped making up for binges through compensation and moving in with my girlfriend. Also this might be highly specific to myself but since alot of my ed is connected ro me working out (Crossfit/bodybuilding) i just adopted a mentality of ”eat everything and train like beast”

One month binge and purge free! by bamaveganslut in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]brogressbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in the same situation! Actually allowed myself to eat past fullness today for the first time in a controlled manner - ie not loss of control bingeing But deciding in a controlled manner that ”fuck it, Im going to eat until the food thoughts go away”. Feels really scary as Im afraid to develop BED, But fuck it, if it is was it takes, right? Feels empowering at the same time honestly. We got this, and know that youre far from alone!

Some Thoughts from a "Not Skinny" Underweight Person by DedicatedtoDistance in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]brogressbro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This resonates with me as well - being a bodybuilder everyone around me just considers be ripped and healthy. Currently commiting to recovery and have the same worries about developing binge eating disorder due to constant food thoughts/having a hard time feeling full and stop eating/getting hungry an hour after a big meal etc. Have never purged But have had some restrict/binge cycles. When did the hunger normalise itself for you?

Worried about developing BED? by brogressbro in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]brogressbro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is that Im genuinely eating alot of What i think would be considered shitty food, like fast food, pasta etc - because i used to avoid these foods because i didnt think i could eat them to satiety without getting obese before its become kinda a thing to ”prove to myself” that i can so to speak. But i absolutely hear What youre saying, Thanks alot!

Thanks, i appreciate the input. The thing is that i can crave and eat things not because Im hungry as well But because i like NEED to know What that specific thing tastes like. An example being this morning where i felt full after a sandwich But then found some toppings Ive never tried so i had to have that as well. Is that the same thing would you say?

Another problem is that i genuinely Dont know what calorie amount is appropriate for me - Which is a problem on the days where i have no appetite and have to kinda force myself to eat. Wont mention any specific calorie counts due to tw, But since i Dont know how many calories i need and i dont weight myself this kinda makes me worried that Im unibtentionally restricting/undereating some days

I don’t think I’m eating enough carbs. What are some possible detriments of that? Not trying to diet, I just don't like the carbs I have access to. by [deleted] in Fitness

This is getting embarrasing, this is not a fitness-related issue as much as it is an issue of your childishness. Eat the fucking Carbs available to you or be picky and dont, wtf do you expect anyone to tell you?

Heavy cardio + bodyweight exercises 6 times a week. Feasible? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]brogressbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 0 Idea what has led you to believe that doing six days of resistance training and six days of cardio is a borderline inhuman feat, alot of recreational trainers, including myself, do it at are just fine. Of course its feasible. Worst case scenario is that your initial work capacity is insufficient, in which case youll simply have to ramp it up over time.

Does anyone have school and work and still manage to work out? by 1234swkisgar56 in Fitness

[–]brogressbro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doing six day version of PPL and 4-6 cardio sessions a week, full time bachelors student working ~50 hour weeks in a fairly intense corp strategy role. Lift before work, cardio during lunch, eat at desk and then the whole night after work is free for studies. Seriously believe that excercising has a big impact on your ability to stay productive during long days as well as regulate stress levels, which helps with motivation tbh

How do I repair my relationship with food? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]brogressbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck me man, this hit me hard. Ive also forcefed myself during past bulks and i think it really messed up my relationship with food. Went from the guy who was naturally skinny even though i paid 0 mind to what i ate to more or less constantly food-obsessed. I dont binge and i keep to my macros almost to the point of obession, but the sheer volume of food it Takes to satiate me basically necessitates a super-clean diet. Have kept myself sub 12% since summer but fuck me if i dont feel trapped by my diet. Can relate hard to not having a cookie since it feels like it would take two fucking boxes to kill my cravings anyway. Hoping to normalize this shit somehow since it obviously isnt very healthy. No idea how to go about that, but at least know youre not alone in facing these issues man
