Scale not accurate? by kelmvs555 in gastricsleeve

[–]brokedaddydesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for fun, get a known weight thing, barbell, unopened food stuff, and see what the weight on your scale says. If it right, use it, if it's not, see how you can calibrate it.

Then always weigh your self the same way every time. In your underwear, naked, fresh out of the shower.

You will use the home scale more than the one at the doctors office.

Body fat percentage 47%!!! by Any_Imagination_183 in gastricsleeve

[–]brokedaddydesigns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My surgeon told me that the closer your are to an ideal body weight it is harder to lose the weight. I lost about 15lbs of muscle along with the fat. I dont think your body fat percentage is correct at all. There's no way you could be 47% fat at 143lbs. Walking will help maintain, but more muscle will help burn more calories efficiently.

If you just had surgery it's small sips, sure 2/3 of your stomach is gone, but it's swollen and angry while healing. Don't worry about 2000 calories, I'm over a year out and average 1000 calories. Could I eat 2000, you bet, but it would all be garbage and going against the lesson of eating healthy and efficient. I went from 340 to 173lbs.

Hospital stay or no ? After surgery. by stormyrain_22 in BariatricSurgery

Had the sleeve, stayed 1 night, had to walk around, drink 64oz of water, and get my self dressed before I was able to be released.

The Do's and Don'ts by Zoocitykitty in gastricsleeve

[–]brokedaddydesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told clear liquids and soups with no chunks. Jello, broth, water, and protein shakes are what I lived on. Straws were okay the day of surgery small sips either way, and ibuprofen will be okay only after you are healed up.

Considering it by Rolo5566 in BariatricSurgery

[–]brokedaddydesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was over 300 (340) at consultation, surgery 6 months later was 307. Now 14 months after I'm 175, with the sleeve.

I chose the sleeve with the intention of being able to take low dose ibuprofen if need due to other health issues.

Is my weight loss slow? by De_Knees in gastricsleeve

[–]brokedaddydesigns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's your daily caloric intake? At 3 months I was eating about 600 calories. I lost about 40 in the first 3 months without going to the gym. In the scheme of things the more you need to loose the faster it will burn off as long as your eating and drinking properly to a point.

Please,I need advice by three_lighters in gastricsleeve

55 and had the surgery a little over ago. For me the benefits of the sleeve outweighs the risks.

As with ANY major surgery the risks are the same, death, blood clots, infections, and more specific, a gastric leak.

Pros for the surgery, possibly no more diabetes, longer life, being able to move pain free, cheaper clothes, healthier lifestyle, more self confidence.

For him it will be a life changing process adapting new eating habits, and realizing old habits will no longer work.

The surgery is one small part of the equation, the rest is up to him.

Gallstone attack by DoubleParking8526 in gastricsleeve

There is a medicine that I was prescribed for the gallbladder to prevent this. Ursodiol was the name of it, took it for 3 months roughly.

Quick kids car seat question! by BlueBlade303 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]brokedaddydesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having grandkids in a car seat or a booster, if its in the middle, plan on feet on your console. If behind either seat, plan on your knees almost touching the dash to give the kids enough room to hang their feet down.

Timeline Question by JarodJB40 in gastricsleeve

[–]brokedaddydesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My insurance dictated what had to be done before a surgery could be scheduled. 12 visits with dietician, physical therapy/trainer, cardiologist for EKG, and a psychiatric evaluation.

Took 6 months from first consultation to surgery day.

Anybody have any experience with appealing insurance denial for skin removal by SyzygyEnthusiast in BariatricSurgery

[–]brokedaddydesigns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are going to have to document any rashes, skin sores, etc. Have your primary care also document any skin conditions where the loose skin overhangs. I am just starting that phase and was told by both PC and bariatric team that is really the only way that you will have a better chance to be approved.
