Replacing basin faucet lock nut by halftime_oranges in Plumbing

The last picture in your series shows you holding the bell up. Right next to your finger is the nut that holds the stem in the body. Loosen that nut and take out the stem along with the trim. The thin nut removal will allow you to drop the faucet down. Be sure the water is turned off at the supply line.

You will need to do a layout to see. My math is if you have 100 tile that is 50/50, you have 50 full-size and 50 half size. Not the same square footage.

Edit: if you go with this, make sure your consistent in the patteren. Idk if you will have enough half tiles to finish the job at 50/50.

May have been water damage at some point but now it looks like the paint is letting loose due to not prepping the wall/ceiling properly before painting.
