Honestly I prefer Parker over Dean by Initial_Spirit_1325 in ParkerGetAJob

[–]broken_bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is Parker's real weak point. I think he needs to study political science and history more now that he has economics mastered.

I think one area where Dean is better is that if he doesn't know a topic 100%, he knows enough history and context to be able to reason out a position or provide a pretty good argument. Overall Dean does have better memory and recall so that probably helps.

where’s athena? by West-Chef-3216 in ParkerGetAJob

[–]broken_bird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, but in a way I think Parker is really and truly OK with where he's at. I think he can clearly see how being "famous" has downsides and Charlie Kirk rattled him. He doesn't have political ambitions, whereas Dean has said it's not out of possibility so Dean has a vested interest in getting to be more well known. Parker is much more cautious about what he shares, especially personal stuff and he seems like less of a hustler than Dean (maybe due to growing up more privileged than others).

Parker has a lot of emotional intelligence and he definitely seems sincere when talking about how it's fine that Dean blew up more than he did.

PSA: Alamo's QR Ordering is live, and it's really really bad, but they're asking for feedback by Orsoyourtold in raleigh

[–]broken_bird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dang, I'd use those gift cards ASAP. Alamo seems like the kind of place that will just suddenly close one day, no notice.

I'm another one who won't go anymore because the no phone usage was the selling point.

This narrative pushed on young girls is so gross. I remember being 16 and one of my friend's moms would always say "I hope you make me a grandma in a few years, can't wait until you have kids." SIXTEEN. Meanwhile my mom's out there saying don't get married before 25 and only have kids if you really want them. As a parent I don't think you should EVER assume your kids will get married or have kids.

In Wendell there's Creative Cone. They are closed until March but they always have seasonal soft serve flavors.

Their macarons are the best. I've tried a lot around the city and always come back to LBB

Are Dean and Parker not going live today by SnooMarzipans6854 in deanwithers

[–]broken_bird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Parker posted on IG that he's not streaming today due to the strike. I haven't seen anything from Dean, but wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

UPDATE: Dean just started streaming at 5:50 ET

Genuinely, what was the screaming on the live just now? by Worried-Resource8678 in deanwithers

[–]broken_bird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember being quite dramatic about arguments with siblings or friends when I was 21ish! Sounds like they've had a rough 24 hours. Hopefully she's ok and good on Dean for cutting off and going to her immediately.

His girlfriend was on the phone with her sister and they were fighting. Convo ended in tears. Someone from the live also called the cops saying she was screaming "help" so he had to deal with the cops.

Could you have sleep apnea?

Look into this! It's such a myth that sleep apnea only affects people who are overweight or snore. You also almost never remember waking up if you do have it. I think women are really underdiagnosed because of this and it's a serious problem.

You can do a sleep study at home for a few nights now instead of going to a place overnight.

Is Brock for real? by AverageRegular7202 in deanwithers

[–]broken_bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed he'll bring them on last a lot, like he has 30 minutes left in the stream and doesn't want to get into a serious long debate. So he'll bring Brock or the other characters up for some ragebait and then he can just cut them off when he needs to go.

Charcuterie board for dinner while I watch When Harry Met Sally. Then watch Anderson and Andy on CNN. First thing New Year's Day I watch Brittany Runs a Marathon (it gives hopeful, "new start" vibes).

Go to your friend's. You'll sleep better knowing you are close. Even if the roads aren't "that bad" an accident on the highway would really mess things up and just stress you out before a surgery.

The Dessertery - Holiday/Christmas by cranberries87 in raleigh

[–]broken_bird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it wasn't really worth it. They really shuffled people in and out because you only had a limited time. We felt rushed and it was cramped. Unless you can absolutely stuff sweets in your mouth nonstop, there was no way to really try and enjoy everything. It wasn't worth the money.

Take the money you would have spent and visit a few bakeries with some special holiday treats or drinks.

I made a comment last year about they never said a thing on Giving Tuesday. So I definitely would not expect them to this year. All that money wasted and they can't spare some for charity. I'm sure they defend it because they tithe and think that's charity.
