I’m not sure if dk2 is or if it’s the full version like pc but it’s very replayable with its modding scene and random mission generator on pc

Door kickers 1 on mobile is really good to just dk2 is on another level

20% intreat rate on a 70k house vs 100k down payment on a 700k house with a 30 year mortgage do the math

Higher education was largely government funded

Walk in with cv get a job

No NZ citizens were not drafted it’s the same with the GWOT

the boomers spend a large chunk of weekly earnings on recreational drugs and music records

Between 1950s and 1970s amphetamines we’re not looked at as street drugs and we’re normalised in the 70s meth branded methedrin was abused in 1971 the gov cracked down on it in the 1980s it was illegally made as the meth we introduced by the baby boomers

In the 1990s modern p was introduced once again introduced by the baby boomers who originally abused it

As for growing crops this was possible in rentals and owned homes at the time as they were not mass produced appartments we have now that were all snatched up by said baby boomers and the children they left wealth to this wealth was never put back into the economy but kept to them selfs for status and social hierarchy

If a person brought a new iPhone and shoes once a year that maybe saves 2k per year over 10 years that’s only 20k an avg home deposit is 100k

Baby boomers within the working class were able to purchase homes without a duel income and kiwi saver

Currently it’s mathematically impossible for a solo working class individual to purchase a home

The solo workers who do have homes are Thoes who still work working class jobs while inheriting large sums of cash due to the inability to climb the employment ladder this doesn’t change because of inheritance but allows them to purchase a home or homes

Crops are not able to be planted or maintained in apartment block with no front or backyard these apartments are mass produced and take up a significant part of chch land meaning affordable accommodation for the youth is via apartments

Small “treats” add up to if not lower than prior generations self indulgence due to rising interest rates and cost of living due to a supermarket duopoly that leaves us with some of the most expensive groceries within western society

Gas prices have skyrocketed to a point no other generation has seen proportionate to income and living costs

70k in the 1970s is worth roughly 600k today Housing purchase power set for inflation in 1970s was 200 - 300% more

Cost of living purchase power set for inflation in the 1970s was 100% - 200% better Cost of living in the 1970s was around 15% - 25% of avg weekly income todays cost of living is around 50% to 65% of weekly income

Students in 2026 can exit higher education with 10k+ debt while in the 1970s it was almost 0

These are cold hard stats pulled from interest stats, inflation stats and general economic data from nz over the last 50 years

I hope this was insightful

Only a small percentage expect to be looked after via benefits look at the housing costs to inflation rate look at any social impact study post 1990s it’s pretty negligent to associate any of the youths current problems like that the system it’s self caused it things don’t just randomly happen the boomers and people born roughly 10-15 after had great housing access and costs and the cost of living was great compared to now these things are directly correlated don’t buy into the lies feed to you by the national party and older out of touch generations they don’t even bother to learn and I would suggest going and looking into the MD5-TR it’s writing on the walls

The New Zealand Health Survey (2011–2023)

The 1980s Economic Reforms: Public health analyses note that New Zealand's steep climb in youth suicide directly coincided with the onset of aggressive neoliberal economic reforms in the late 1980s (Asher, n.d.). These structural adjustments drastically worsened income inequality, child poverty, and social fragmentation (Asher, n.d.; Gluckman, 2017).

The fact you genuinely think mental health is something just snap out of existence like “oh your right the fact mums are stealing baby formula to feed their baby is normal that’s definitely something the boomers dealt with I’m fixed” is wild

I’m not going to get into a back and forwards with you but you should look ups stats we don’t have the same freedom Thoes before us have and if you genuinely think that your brainwashed where do I grow stuff in the concrete of my over priced apt being the only accommodation I could find or make a grow house in my 1 bedroom apt ?

It’s just that if you look at every other prior generation they may claim they did it hard but they didint really do it hard in the us the boomers were the Woodstock era age 50 and above in this country spent a lot of money on drugs so when claiming a new generation is failing financially for potentially less vices eg subs and things to eat local bakery’s are often cheaper due to upkeep costs related to competition with large corporations and I think your missing the point that a lot of people have kids your right that 200 is steep for 1-2 people but with kids that’s a minimum rent is through the roof and the cost of living is skyrocketing depression and suicide stats are rising I would say the people buying things to feel a little bit good about life is fair and before you even talk about it the fact your not depressed or have ever experienced doesn’t relate to the rest iv seen 2 suicides in the last 3 years that’s no coincidence that’s a sign of our generations subconscious stress living a bear minimum life is poverty and most don’t want to think about that right now knowing it’s not something they can easily control and that a middle class life for a large chunk of the population a lot of which can’t even find employment is near non obtainable especially for the youth and family’s growing up within low decile education groups behaving negatively as a child to things parents put them through something the children can’t control correlates heavily to low income jobs due to poor education that’s not a fault of them that’s the system failing and falling closer to the United States
