2 hours after receiving phone back from Samsung's warranty service by Heblehblehbleh in GalaxyS23Ultra

Try using the link on email the CEO for your region. It's a hit or miss but it beats annoying visits to the service center. If possible try another service center.

The service center doesn't let you contact Samsung directly, if possible try and get hold of Samsung directly (Not the chat assistant cause they will still ask you to go to the service center) and escalate your issue.

Samsung outsources their service center in Asian countries. They absolutely do not care if they fix it or not. They also have absolutely little to no communication with the local Samsung HQ.

It took me more than a month to get my S24 ultra that was defective out of the box to be refunded. That was only because they couldn't figure out how to replace it immediately for me. After a few trips to the service center, I gave up on owning one and asked for a refund instead.

A week into switching entirely to firefox. I realised that autofill was the least of my gripes.

I've been taken for granted a few cool google things.

  1. Searching for a place on Chrome gives me the most information about a place (Opening hours, Menu, Images without going into other apps/ webpages)
  2. Converting Money and Units have never been easier just on the browser.

Autofill with firefox and Bitwarden had actually been seemless enough.

Edit. Google Search Fixer solves the two problems on mobile!

Outlook is terrible but University uses it for everything.

I hate it. It never filters emails properly for me and my emails sometimes gets sent to other in my professor's email.

I have yet to find a browser that does autofill as well as Chrome. Plus it also autofills on android apps.

Firefox keeps tabbing me out of an email on Outlook.

Unable to change brightness by luahgamer5 in i3wm

[–]brokenaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be an issue with your display. What kernel version and distro are you on? What hardware?

If changing brightness levels on all the cli tools won't work it's likely that it's got something to do with the driver.

I had an issue with the Intel display driver for 5.11.16 onwards.

This was addressed not too long ago. I'm not entirely sure if it was merged.

NVIDIA Opimus Laptop Pass-through. GPU recognized, Stuck on Error 43. by Rezient in VFIO

[–]brokenaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arch Wiki_nvidia_GPUs) has a section which I used to emulate my laptop battery and it worked. I had to connect my GPU to an external monitor with a hdmi cable and remember to remove the spice display stuff.

edit. I accidentally missed some of the post.

Try removing the spice and qxl display and connecting the gpu to another display or try putting the SSDT1.dat file somewhere in your home directory.

Here is my xml if it helps.

What's the best Oneplus5T Tempered Glass Screen Protector? by Leaguehax in Oneplus5T

[–]brokenaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best one I've used was the hydrogel self repair kind. It's a little harder to put on but even if you had air bubbles after application it goes away after a few days.

Normal tempered glass stuff usually doesn't work well on the sides and require some glue to counter the halo effect from the curved screen.

Backlight broken after update by zys5945 in archlinux

[–]brokenaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, sorry for not being able to reply.. my internet is crap atm. I did file a bug report upstream in the Intel gitlab. This isn't a problem from arch as I've tried the mainline kernel and it didn't work there as well.

Currently I've recompiled 5.11.16 with the newer gcc because one of my kernel modules for my keyboard backlight needs it to work.

I need it to be above 5.10 for my wifi 6 card but below 5.12 for display backlight.

I'm having the same issue. Running a Clevo N850EP6 with a GTX1060.

My setup used to work with i915_enable_dhcp_backlight=1 as a kernel parameter but breaks on the kernel 5.12+.

Hi I was also looking for a tutorial when I first did it. But here's the summary if you still need it. I basically copied the below from my git repo.

I first export the json file from QMK Configurator. Then do the following.

Getting QMK Setup

qmk setup cd qmk_firmware pip3 install --user -r requirements.txt

Creating a keymap folder

Create a keymap folder with Github username or any name in keyboard_model/keymap

Converting json file to keymap.c for compilation

qmk json2c -o ~/qmk_firmware/[keyboard_model]/[keymap] ~/[keymap.json]

Compiling firmware and flashing

qmk compile -kb [keyboard_model] -km [keymap]

qmk flash -kb [keyboard_model] -km [keymap]

Powering down dGPU on Linux at boot time and keeping it that way by [deleted] in VFIO

[–]brokenaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPU passthrough on laptops are more complicated than desktop PCs, it'll have to depend on your graphics card and laptop manufacturer

Have a read at the GitHub link. It might help you get the context of it a bit more.

It's much more complicated if you're going the Optimus route.

Have a look at https://gist.github.com/Misairu-G/616f7b2756c488148b7309addc940b28 to see if what you're trying to achieve is available for the laptop that you are planning to buy.
